《Elegance | Harry Potter》Year 5-7 | Dumbledore's Army (3)

I walked down the corridors to see Neville sitting on one of the benches along the corridors. He was staring aimlessly into a wall with a blank facial expression, he looked sad.
"What's wrong Neville?" I asked sitting besides him. He slowly turned to face me looking at my eyes for a second before quickly looking away.
"Draco said my parents are probably glad they can't remember me" He said in a mere whisper. My eyes widened when I heard that, it was definitely not something I was expecting.
"Well Neville you know that is not true"
"Is it really Evelyn? I was almost a squib, I didn't have magical powers until I fell off a tree and survived. I can't do anything correctly. If my parents still remembered me I would be a disappointment to them"
Disappointment to the family. I know what it felt like. I got placed in Gryffindor, became inseparable with a muggleborn, chose Hogwarts over Beauxbatons. I don't want to title myself as a disappointment though, I came to change my thoughts on it. I'm proud to be myself, not fitting in to any of mother's expectations.
"Neville, you're talented in Herbology. You even helped Harry get past the second task" I said placing a hand on his shoulder. He looked up at me slowly and gave a small smile.
"You really think so?" He asked.
"Of course, never seen anyone know more about Herbology than you. You're also really determine and brave. Remember when you were going to fight Harry Hermione Ron and I back in our first year?"
"You still remember that?" His smiling got bigger and his eyes lit up.
"Of course, it was something a true Gryffindor would do"
"Thanks Evelyn. I really thought you were intimidating and scary when I first saw you but you're really not"
"Thanks Neville.. I'm not the only one who's different inside. Draco is not all bad, he'll act like a total scum but really he's not. Try to understand that". He nodded slowly and a big smile formed on my face. I got up out of the bench and faced him.
"We have bigger things to worry about Neville, let's go find a place for us to practice" He smiled and got up beside me.
The two of us walked down the corridors in silence. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, we were just too busy thinking about a place. Preferably inside the castle, it would be a safer option since we wouldn't have to sneak out for every meeting. I would ask Profesor McGonagall but she would totally freak out and say this was a mad idea. The Astronomy Tower is usually empty but seeing Draco goes there half the time it wasn't safe either. Chamber of Secrets was too traumatic, not to forget the giant dead snake.

I was too busy trapped in my minds when I noticed Neville was no longer walking beside me. I turned back to see Neville standing still staring at a wall.
"Neville?" I called out walking towards him. The wall in front of him started to take shape as a door. The room of requirements, one that only shows up to the people in great need. It'll supply the founder with anything he wishes at the moment that could be supplied.
"You've found the Room of Requirements, excellent Neville!" I turned to face him giving him a huge genuine smile. He was thrown back and he had the same blank expression.
We walked inside to reveal a very big room. It's walls were like mirrors with a fire place in the very end. It was perfect for practicing spells. In the middle was a practice dummy with a piece of stick to act as a wand.
"Room of requirements?" Neville asked looking around the room examining it.
"It only appears when a person has real need of it, always equipped for the seeker's needs"
"That's amazing"
"I know, well done Neville. We should head back and tell Harry about this"
***
The students all gathered around in the middle of the room of requirements. Harry stood in the very front and I stood next to him. He wanted me to help out teaching the 25 students because I already knew how to perform a couple of the disarming spells he planned on teaching.
"So um, hi everyone. Welcome to the first uh- meeting" Harry stuttered. We didn't exactly have a name for this student led classes yet.
"I suggest we could come up with a name for our group" Luna said from the crowd of students.
"Great, any suggestions?" Harry shrugged looking around the room.
"Defense Association? DA for short?" I suggested looking around the students for confirmation.
"What about Dumbledore's Army? You know, since the ministry fears Dumbledore's Army the most" Cho suggested smiling at me ever so innocently.
"Well if Umbridge found out and the name of this organization is Dumbledore's army then-"
"I agree with Cho" Zacharias interrupted me crossing his arms looking at me straight in the eye. I opened my mouth to say something but didn't, instead I just stared at the ground a little discouraged.
"I also agree with Cho" Marietta called out from the crowd of students standing beside Cho who only smiled at me.

"Me too"
"I do too"
Many different students called out. Almost everyone did except for Neville, Luna, the Weasleys, Hermione and Harry. Silence filled the room and Harry looked at me conflicted.
"Alright, so it's settled. Dumbledore's Army" I smiled weakly looking back up at the crowd of students. No one smiled back.
"How will we meet for our next meeting? Verbally telling each other is too risky" Hannah Abott called out directly looking at me.
"Well I was thinking, Hermione could help me perform the Protean charm on a fake galleon where the numbers on the edge would change to the date of the next DA meeting by Harry's will... Just like-"
"Death eaters" Zacharias spat glaring at me, "Except not with the mark on their body"
"That sounds amazing Evelyn" Hermione smiled at me encouraging me. I signed and looked back towards the ground. They didn't trust me at all, nor did they like me.
"Alright well um, we can first start with a simple disarming charm, can you guys all get in line behind Evelyn and I?" Harry asked as everyone listened standing behind Harry. No one stood behind me except for Luna, Neville, the Weasleys and Hermione, I was extremely discouraged.
"I'll just- watch from the side" I smiled weakly at Harry before stepping away standing beside Neville who was right behind me. A couple of students then stood behind Neville.
"Go ahead and try the disarming spell, just a quick flick and say expelliarmus" Harry motioned towards Neville. In front of the students was the target mummy with the fake wand in it's hand. Neville took a quick deep breath and pointed his wand at the target dummy.
"Expelliarmus!" The spell deflected itself causing Neville's wand to go flying above the students heads.
"I'm hopeless" He muttered to himself.
"You're just flourishing your wand too much, try it like this. Expelliarmus!" Harry pointed his wand at the dummy making it's fake wand go flying out of it's hand. Neville turned around to get his wand when Zacharias stopped him grabbing his arm.
"She'll get it for you" He gestured towards me glaring.
"No, why don't you get it for Neville? You're closer" Harry furrowed his eyebrows at him a little annoyed.
"It's fine Harry I'm not doing anything anyway" I gave him a quick smile before grabbing the wand off the floor handing it back to Neville. He looked at me apologetically to which I only smiled.
"What is your guys' problem?" Harry furrowed his eyebrows turning to face the students.
"We don't trust her" Zacharias said.
"Well you idiot why would she be helping Harry how to defend yourselves if she's the one that would attack you?" Ron turned around to face the other students too.
"It's fine Ron, it's true. My mother murdered my dad and she's also a death eater. That's just the truth and it makes sense you guys don't trust me, but honestly I think I deserve basic respect" I said looking at Zacharias with an emotionless face.
"You won't be given respect in Azkaban with your mother" He said glaring at me. My hands gripped on my wands tight. When I was trying to figure out a jinx for the snitch I had learned other hexes and jinxes. I could easily do damage to him right now and I very much wanted to. I took a deep breath in and turned around looking away to avoid the temptation. If I hexed him no one would trust me.
"You know what Zacharias-"
"Ron, your turn to try the disarming charm" I quickly interrupted Harry to avoid creating a fuss.
The rest of the DA meeting went by with students trying to learn the disarming charm. Hermione helped me perform the Protean charm on the fake galleons. The whole time she was looking at me sympathetically and I pretended not to notice, I don't need anyone's sympathy. The students all headed out of the room grabbing a galleon leaving just Harry and I inside.
"Evelyn.. Are you alright?" He came up from behind me standing besides me. I walked over and leaned in placing my head on his shoulders.
"Never better" I whispered in his ears. He wrapped his arm around me pulling me close kissing my head.
"I still remember all the hexes I learned from my third year" He said playing with my hair as I laughed slightly. My laughter was very short remembering him and Cho. I still wasn't sure if that kiss back at headquarters meant anything to him.

New kingdoms expand as the old decay. This is a story of those who lived in the times of change. Dear Reader, Thank you for stopping by! This is my first attempt at writing something of more substantial length and would be incredibly grateful to receive feedback and advice. The plan is to post at least a chapter a week and more if I find time. Also, in order to not disappoint any expectations; the story plays in a fictional world reminiscent of the real world 17th to 19th century with some supernatural elements, but no obvious magic or game-like system.

The Villain's Double Life
“The Villain’s Double Life as the Hero’s Mentor," “Demon Nobles Want to Live Too: A Hero-Raising Simulator for the Transmigrated Villain," “Just Because I’m a Villain Doesn’t Mean I Want the World to End!” Cyrus Calvide was the second son of an aristocratic lord; haughty, vain and power-hungry. One day, when his ancestral inheritance manifested, he discovered he was able to steal other’s powers and abilities using demonic magic. Taking this as a sign that he was destined to rule over others and become the new king of this land, he poisoned his father, killed his elder brother, and embarked on the path to greatness, taking advantage of a demonic invasion to consolidate power and harvest the abilities of others in a cruel and bloody fashion. Until he was summarily defeated by the Hero as a mid-game boss battle and executed for his crimes, of course. When a dedicated fan of the RPG “Next to Eden” awakened in the body of the cruelest future Count, four years before the beginning of the game, he pledged to live humbly. He would let his brother lead and support the Hero from the shadows to ensure the demon invasion would be defeated and he could enjoy life in peace. Rather, he would have, if he hadn’t gotten the Hero’s mentor killed in a freak monster attack before the Hero’s training could even begin. How was he supposed to live a life of peace and luxury if the Hero couldn’t stop the end of the world!? Donning a mask, Cyrus took up mentoring the Hero himself; how hard could it possibly be? . . . Four years later, the kind jack-of-all-trades hero Leon had become a twisted powerhouse: alienating his party members, clearing enemy encounters in a single magical blast, and coldly ignoring the affections of the girl whose love would have allowed him to clear the final boss. He seemed to have plastered himself to his Master’s side, instead. Cyrus bit back his despair while the hero reached out to grasp his hand. “Please stop ignoring the saint, Leon; you can't beat the Demon King by grinding stats! You need the power of love, remember?” “Don’t worry, Master,” Leon smiled as he traced the lines of Cyrus’s palm gently, almost reverently. “I have all the love I need.” VDL is two parts plot and worldbuilding, one part slow-build gay romance, starring a man far too proud to admit he's in over his head and the hero who loves him. Should be updating weekly.
