Lu Beichuan was caught off guard from hearing this stream of so-called gossip and the soup went down the wrong way, causing him to cough several times. His face turned scarlet.
Ye Zhen hastily brought over water and tissues. "Don't get so worked up."
Lu Beichuan coughed several times before his emotions stabilized. He looked at Ye Zhen. "Who... cough.... Who told you this fake nonsense?"
"That's what the forums and tabloid are saying." Ye Zhen very innocently said, "Every detail is vividly described. They also said I'm the other woman. And since the child of the other woman naturally isn't good enough to be seen in public, his first lunar birthday had to be sneakily celebrated at home instead of at a hotel. They wrote that based on that, this child isn't valued by the Lu's."
After speaking to this point, Ye Zhen sighed. "I can let it go if they call me names. But Zhouzhou is so young and they've given him the title of the other woman's child. He's just an innocent child."
Lu Beichuan furrowed his brows. There was a bit of anger in the corners of his eyes and brow. He shouted, "Which forums and tabloids are writing that nonsense?!"
"What do you mean which forums and tabloids are writing nonsense? If you go online and look anywhere, you'll see people scolding me and calling me the other woman." Ye Zhen mumbled, "I can't control whatever relationship you have with Shen Weiyin. I'm just worried about our son."
Lu Beichuan sighed deeply. He called a number and asked the PR Department staff about this matter as well as having them come up to his office to discuss it further.
"This issue is due to my carelessness. Rest assured, I'll have people handle this matter as soon as possible."
Ye Zhen very generously and understandingly smiled at him. "No big deal. The company is steadily rising up now. You're very busy at work and there's definitely matters you don't have time to attend to. I can understand if you overlooked this matter. After all, your company has a contract with Shen Weiyin. I can understand why there's hype. But... I think you should forgo creating this type of hype that has no moral bottom line in the future. It won't be good for her reputation either for them to hype up her relationship with a married man. Do you agree with me?"

"A contract? This matter, I..."
“You're not going to tell me that you don't even know the actress that has an endorsement contract with your company, right? I wouldn't believe such a lie."
Lu Beichuan was silent for a moment. "Don't worry. I'll resolve the contract issue and tell the PR Department that if they encounter any gossip about me, they should contact the publishing company responsible for it and have the gossip about me taken down."
This was probably why Ye Zhen had come to his office.
She didn't like that Shen Weiyin would create hype by faking an ambiguous relationship with Lu Beichuan when she very well knew that he had a wife and a child. Even so, she could overlook that if she stopped there. But Shen Weiyin had to go and portray her as an irredeemably person that stole her boyfriend. Her actions were outrageous!
Ye Zhen very sincerely said, "Mr. Lu, I very much appreciate your efforts for the sake of family harmony."
"... I was too careless. I'm just doing what I should."
"But, there is one more thing..." Ye Zhen took out her phone and showed him the article she had found in advance. "Mr. Lu, looked at this entertainment headline. They're talking about you and Shen Weiyin and how she was your dance partner. When did you go to this party with her? How come I don't know about it?"
Looking at the tabloid article from three months ago, Lu Beichuan was a bit embarrassed. "I went to that party because of a business invitation... The tabloids were writing nonsense... Shen Weiyin was there as someone else's dance partner, not mine..."
"Not yours? Does that mean you had a dance partner too? Who was she? Was she pretty? Do I know her?"
It felt like answering these questions incorrectly would lead to his demise.
Lu Beichuan's muscles stretched taut. Under Ye Zhen's staring eyes, he felt an immediate sense of crisis.
This felt more nerve-wracking than conducting a business negotiation.
In the past, Lu Beichuan had a fixed partner when he went to a normal business function. But after getting married, he never took anyone as his date to parties or large-scale public events. This tabloid article was pure fabrication. Lu Beichuan opened his mouth to explain, but he saw Ye Zhen's fake smile and slightly angry gaze.

He was slightly taken aback.
"Are you jealous?"
Ye Zhen had been waiting for his explanation, but the word "jealous" utterly defeated her.
"Jealous?" She forced herself to laugh to cover up her guilty conscience. "What nonsense. What's there for me to feel jealous over? Don't be mistaken. We have a written contract that clearly states what role I'm supposed to play. You think I'm jealous? What a bad joke. I'm just... I just want to remind you that as Lu Corporation's CEO and boss, you can't just do whatever you want because you have money. You have a wife and a child. This sort of thing won't be good for your reputation."
Lu Beichuan was holding back a smile. Seeing Ye Zhen annoyed and frazzled, he leaned back and carefully observed Ye Zhen's expression. He was extremely satisfied.
"En, you're right. I have a wife and a child. If that gossip spreads, it won't be good for my reputation. Don't worry. I'll tell the PR Department to take care of the gossip related to me as well as issue clarifying statements. As for what you said earlier, I don't take anyone as my date to business events and there won't be anymore of those fictitious rumors in the future."
Ye Zhen nodded. "Since you can think this through, that's good then."
The sound of Zhouzhou crying came from the resting room.
Startled, Ye Zhen said, "Oh no, Zhouzhou is awake."
The nanny that followed her here was waiting outside of the office in the lounge area. Lu Beichuan didn’t have someone call the nanny into the office. Instead, he prepared the infant formula. And then, he held Zhouzhou in one arm and fed him the prepared milk.
There was a knock on the door. An assistant came in. "CEO Lu, someone from the PR Department..." The assistant saw Lu Beichuan feeding a baby and froze in place.
Lu Beichuan, who was impeccably dressed, was holding Zhouzhou and feeding him milk from a bottle. He turned towards the door to look at the assistant and asked in a low voice, "What is it?"
The assistant didn't dare to let her gaze linger. She lowered her head and quietly answered, "The PR Director is here to report something."
"Have him come back in half an hour."
"Okay." The assistant hastily retreated. From her peripheral vision, he saw Ye Zhen coming out of the resting room with a diaper.
Ye Zhen said to Lu Beichuan, "I think Zhouzhou wet his diaper. Let me change his diaper first. You can feed him later."
"Put the diaper down. I'll do it."
The assistant's hand trembled.
A dignified boss of a big company had to feed a baby and change his diaper? This was too shocking!
After leaving the CEO's office, she immediately went to a lounge area to share what she had seen and heard with the others.
She vividly described the scene of CEO Lu feeding his son and changing his diaper. After she finished speaking, she sighed. So there were people like their CEO, who was so impressive at work, but when he went home, he would feed his son and change his diapers.
Her coworkers shook their heads after hearing these words. CEO Lu was so pitiful.
As that assistant had said, the pitiful CEO Lu was currently in the process of changing Zhouzhou's diaper.
Lu Beichuan had changed diapers plenty of times and was familiar with it. It was a piece of cake for him to change the diaper and he did so without a change in his expression.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
