《The Rejected Royal》Joke's On You

"What do you mean 'I'm dangerous'?!" I yell at my newly found cousin.
"I don't know. When your parents took you away they said you were. And that, that's why they needed to take you away." He says with his hands up in surrender.
'?' I yell at him through the mind-link. It's quite easy to mind-link different people. You just have to be touching the arm of the person you're mind-linking for the first time. Then you can mind-link them whenever. Not everyone can do this, but Jessica and I can.
"How did you do that?!" He asks, shocked, his eyes are basically bulging out of their sockets.
"Let's talk inside." I say after looking around at my surroundings, and before grabbing Jessica's arm. Jessica is in her own world right now. I know because she can't move on her own, and she's staring at mid-air.
"Hey, be careful she's my mate!" Brian says before growling possessively.
"And I'm her best friend."
"Hey, be careful shes my mate!" Brian growls. I think he should stop being so possessive over me. I am not a toy!
"And I'm her best friend." Emily makes a come back.
'!' I mind-link Emily.
'.' She answers back.
When we get to Brian's house Emily and I stop in our tracks and stare at the house. Jeez! I don't even think it is a house!
"Welcome to mi casa." Brian grins while opening his arms out and walking backwards.
"Wow!" Emily says with wide eyes. On the other hand, I just stand there looking back and forth between Brian and his house in awe. This guy is just getting hotter.....
Once I get out of my trance, I look at Jessica drooling over Brian. When she turns around and looks at me, I smirk and wiggle my eyebrows, teasingly.

'?!' She acts dumb in the mind-link. I roll my eyes in my mind, and go back into reality.
"So are you coming in, or what?" Brian asks teasingly.
"Oh, yeah." Jessica and I say together in unison, before looking at each other and chuckling. Once we enter the house, there is a huge entry way. On the right there are two huge wooden doors, and on the left the same. They're both closed so I can't see anything inside. Someone gasps from behind me and I turn around frantically.
"What's wrong?!" I ask Brian.
"Can't you hear that?" He asks, freaked out. He puts his hands to his ears and searches where the sound is coming from.
"Um...... no we can't. Are you ok, Brian?" Jessica asks him, worriedly.
"I'm completely fine...... oh, maybe you didn't know. Everyone knows this, an if you're going to be living with me..... I've gotta warn you..... this house, is um....."
"Spit it out!" I interrupt Brian.
"It's um... haunted." He says, then closes is eyes like he's afraid of what our response would be.
"Are you serious?" Jessica asks him nervously. He slowly nods, and Jessica freaks out running around the house. She hates ghosts. Brian quickly shakes his head 'no' while trying to stifle a laugh. I smirk at him.
'.' I mind-link him and his eyes widen, but then he tries to stifle more laughter.
"Wait! Before we forget. How did you mind link me?" He asks, his voice full of curiosity.
"Jessica and I have this 'power'," I put quotation marks on power.
"and it won't make sense to tell you, soooooo I won't." I state calmly. He looks at me, confused, but we just ignore that and walk towards where the big doors on the left side are. There, inside of what looks like to be the living room, is the princess of weirdness. If you haven't noticed yet, I'm the queen.

She's running all around the huge room like a mad woman, but stop once she sees Brian. Next thing you know, she's on his back shouting, "Piggy back ride!! As the princess of weirdness I demand you give me a piggy back ride!!" That is the most hyper I have EVER seen her. What happened to her. I guess I'll ask her once she's done being hyper.
'?' I mind-link Brian, worriedly. What if he doesn't. This is the real Jessica, if he doesn't like her. We will both leave.....again.
'.' I grin at his response. I gasp loudly for both Jessica and Brian to hear.
"What's wrong?!" They both ask in unison. I guess Jessica is back. Remind me to ask about her recent hyper attack. Wait, who am I talking too?
"Jessica, there's someone behind you.... She's really pale, and has blood around her face. I think she's a ghost...." I lie, acting like I'm freaking out.
"AHHHHH!" She screams while jumping in the air, and Brian catches her bridal style. Jessica didn't look behind her, so she didn't have any proof that there was someone actually behind her.
"That's cruel. Jessica, Emily and I were just playing with you. This house is not haunted. Let's get you to bed. You'll be sleeping in my room, unless you don't want to. What do you want to do?" He asks Jessica. Jessica gives me a short glare, and then goes back to thinking about where she wants to sleep.
"Can I get my own room, for this week, and then I'll think about it again next week." Jessica asks sweetly. This is kinda sweet. I've never seen Jessica look at anyone like that, or even talk to someone like that. She really likes him.
'.' I threaten Brian in the mind-link, and glare at him in real life.
'.' He says sweetly back, and grins at Jessica. He starts to go up the stairs, and I follow him like a lost puppy. Brian puts Jessica down, once we reach a white door. I know Jessica and I will probably decorate that door tomorrow.
"Ok, there are two rooms. Sorry Emily, but Jessica gets to pick first." I groan and waits until Jessica picks. She starts walking towards the first door. She shakes her head, and walks towards the second door. Once she opens that door, she gasps.
"What's wrong?!" Brian and I shout in unison.
"I love it. I get this one!" She yells while jumping on her bed.
"I don't mind, I like this one." I say grinning at my room like an idiot.
"Awesome. So Jessica, you could rest, or if you want a tour of the place, you could come with us." Brian says. He keeps giving options to Jessica, but not me. C'mon!

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
