《The Hybridz | TBZ✔》Chapter 12 | Sick

“Shouldn’t Y/N be up by now?” Sunwoo asked the next morning. “I’m starting to get hungry.”
“She should...I’ll go check on her”, I said and stood up from the spot we sat.
I walked over to Y/N’s door and knocked. When I didn’t get an answer, I opened and went inside. She was still sleeping and I took a moment to watch her features. She was beautiful, no doubt. I forgot why I was there for a moment, I was mesmerized by how peaceful she looked.
Right. I was going to check up on her.
I sat down on the bed and took her hand, shaking it slightly.
“Y/N…”, I said quietly. “Wake up.”
“Hmm?” she asked tiredly, not opening her eyes.
“You don’t usually sleep this long...we’re hungry…”
“Oh, gosh, sorry...I’ll come now.”
She stood up but I noticed that something seemed wrong. She seemed weak. She stumbled slightly, trying to get away from the bed, so I grabbed her arm and held her up.
“Are you okay, Y/N?”
“I feel a little sick, but it’s nothing.”
“I’ll help you down to the kitchen.”
I scooped her up in my arms and walked downstairs, knowing that if she was weak, she shouldn’t walk down the stairs. The risk of her falling would be too big.
“Y/N!” Sunwoo breathed out in worry and hurried over to me. “What happened?”
“Nothing”, I said. “SHe seems to be a little sick. Her legs aren’t so strong."
“Oh...t-that’s fine! Come here, I’ll fix a chair so you can make breakfast for us.”
“You really should learn how to cook”, Y/N sighed.
“Why should we when you make the best food?”

Y/N called for us a while later and when she came out into the living room, she was holding a thermometer in her hand.
“I was right. I have a fever. A pretty high one too. Thanks to that thirty minute walk in the rainstorm, I’m now sick.”
“What? No...”, Sangyeon pouted and hurried up to hug her.
“Alright, let’s get you tucked in and taken care of”, Juyeon said firmly. “Sangyeon, carry her to her bedroom.”
Sangyeon lifted her up and carried her upstairs as we all hurried after to help. All eleven were standing in her bedroom as Sangyeon tucked Y/N in.
“Do you need anything?” Changmin asked.
“I just need to rest”, Y/N said. “If I don’t, I won’t be able to go to work tomorrow. I took the day off today because I was sick. I can’t risk more.”
I poked Kevin’s shoulder and he leaned towards me so I could whisper in his ear.
“Let’s make sure she can’t rest, so she has to stay home with us”, I whispered. “She won’t be able to rest enough to heal."
“Good idea, Hak”, Kevin smirked quietly with his arms crossed.
We looked back at Y/N sadly. We didn’t want to hurt her, but we didn’t want her to be outside in that horrible weather again. What if something happened?

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
