《The Hybridz | TBZ✔》Chapter 27 | Questions

A few days went on. One day the doorbell rang and I had to force myself up out of my bed. I hadn’t eaten much. I had not had the appetite, so when I passed the mirror in the corridor, I couldn’t help but notice a change in my face. It looked as miserable as I felt. I was still wearing the hoodie. I went downstairs to the front door and opened, seeing a police officer in probably his early thirties or late twenties.
“Good day, miss, I wondered if you could answer some questions”, he said.
“About what?” I wondered.
“The assault on you a month ago.”
“Alright...come in, come in.”
I let him in and took him to the living room. Before the interview started, I made coffee for us both. For him, to be polite and for me to wake the fuck up.
“How are you holding up?” he asked and sat down on the couch.
“I’m fine.”
Lie. I’m dying.
Literally. I was dying. As I had mentioned. I had not eaten for a few days. I had not felt the hunger. I knew I wouldn’t die for a while, but I was on the way.
“I wanted to ask you some questions”, he said and took up a recorder. “This will record everything you say so I can go back to the interview later, is that okay?”
I nodded.
“So, miss Y/N, what time did you get robbed and assaulted?”
“Around five. I had just gone off work and was on my way home.”
“Do you remember what they look like?”
“One had a tattoo right under his eye and the other one had a scar on his forehead.”

“Okay, good...they got killed a few weeks ago.”
“Oh, what happened?”
“No one really knows. There were no witnesses and no security cameras around.”
“Are there any leads or so? DNA?”
“I’m not supposed to say this, but...there is no recognizable DNA either. And I am really not supposed to say this to you either, but...it’s the same with your parents.”
“Do my hybrids get to come home then?”
“No...not from what I know.”
I sighed in sadness.
“I have gotten your stuff back”, the policeman said.
He gave me a plastic bag. I opened it and saw my phone and some things I had in my bag.
“Your wallet though...it’s gone.”
“No, no”, I said. “They only took the money. They left the wallet. I got it.”
“I have a question. The night of the murder of these two men, did any of your hybrids seem suspicious?”
I frowned, trying to remember. “My hawk took a walk that night.”
“He did? From what time?”
“I have security camera footage if you want to see?”
“Yes, please.”
I walked upstairs, got my computer and came back. The policeman got to see the footage. He looked at the time and wrote something down.
“Here he comes all covered in blood”, he said, pointing at the screen when Juyeon came into the house again.
“He had been in a fight”, I explained. “I had told him that it was dangerous to be outside alone, but he didn’t listen. You should know that it’s not safe for hybrids to be outside alone.”
“Yes, I know.”
“He got cut with a knife too.”
“Hm…Do you have any footage from when your parents got killed?”

“I...uhm, yes...I do. But could you please don’t say it like that?”
“Absolutely. My bad, miss.”
I showed him the footage of me catching Kevin before he went out.
“This is...Kevin, right?” he asked.
“Yes, that’s Kevin”, I sighed, missing him.
“What was he going to do?”
“He was craving rabbit meat. You can hear that if you listen to the audio…”
He reacted that Kevin was wet when he came home.
“Why is he so wet?”
“It was raining outside”, I said.
“Alright. Hey, can I get the footage to take with me so I can use it in the investigation?”
“Absolutely.”
I managed to send the footage to him from my computer.
“Thank you, Y/N, that was all I needed! I will be keepin contact with you! You’ve been a great help!” he said and left.

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
