《RTTE watches HTTYD》(15) Hiccup The Disowned
Advertisement
"Right, Hiccup has to kill the monstrous nightmare..." Dagur remembered.
Viggo raises his brow, "You really think Hiccup will actually kill the dragon?"
"No, but that's what I'm scared of." Viggo is confused.
"Why?"
"Really? You haven't noticed Hiccups self-sacrificing dumb plans when all seems lost?" Suddenly everyone is nervous, eyes staring at the screen intently.
Dagur just hopes, Hiccup doesn't do what Dagur thinks he's gonna do. Shadow prepares the chain mechanism.
Mala and Throk shake their heads at the idiocy of Stoick's words yet again. 'Doesn't he see how that affects Hiccup? I mean Gobber gets along with Hiccup better than him. Doesn't that say something...' Mala thinks with a scowl.
'Please don't do it Hiccup, you can still run, just please don't do it. If you do and the reaction is what it's gonna be, I'm taking you away, even the Grimborns will be better for you than anyone on that blasted island.' Dagur thinks savagely, willing to storm Berk just to get to Hiccup.
'Hiccup.' Dagur thinks sternly.
'Don't tell me he's...' Viggo thinks desperately, he knows that won't go well.
'If you have any self-redeeming qualities, talk Hiccup out of it. Please.' Dagur once again thinks desperately.
'What is he planning on doing..?' Ryker thinks, confused yet dreading his answer.
'Don't Hiccup. Get yourself out of there...' Dagur is getting restless, all this lead-up is pointing to Hiccup doing something dumb that he knows won't be received well.
Dagur closes his eyes in worry, 'It's too late...'
Viggo looks at him curiously, looking back at Shadow's grim face doesn't help his thoughts. 'He does it, doesn't he...' He thinks with dread.
"Oh no, no no no no no." Dagur is looking intently at the screen, his fears have come to fruition.

Dagur's eyes, as well as the rest of the watchers, widen to saucers. 'Oh, Hiccup. Why...'
"That's not going to go over well." Ryker understates.
Shadow looks at him with a look that says 'You don't think?'
"It's working." Throk says to Mala.
Dagur shakes his head, "That's only because everyone is too shocked to react, once they aren't though..." It doesn't help anyone's nerves.
Dagur's body starts twitching, he knows this kind of crowd.
All the watchers jump, and Dagur actually leaves his seat.
"That's not good..." Ryker once again understates, everybody is too focused on the screen to care.
Viggo's hand tightens on the arm of his chair.
"That's really not good." No one pays any attention to Ryker.
Mala continually squeezes and releases her hand on an invisible handle.
Throk can't tear his eyes away from the screen, 'Why isn't anyone doing anything!? Isn't that their Heir!?'
Dagur's twitching worsens. No one notices but Shadow.
'How could it all go so wrong so fast...' Throk thinks.
"Come on, come on." Throk whispers.
Everyone holds their breath.
"No..." Mala whispers.
"They'll kill him! Damnit!" Was surprisingly Viggo, but it everyone was to tense to care.
"That just made everything worse..." Ryker states.
Dagur is still twitching, eyes focused intently on the screen.
Throk closes his eyes, unable to take anymore.
"Just listen Toothless... Please, for Hiccup's sake." Viggo pleads
Mala closes her eyes, stressed from all the tension. Ryker did not help matters at all, in fact it just made it worse.
Similar actions happen with the watchers. Shadow prepares the chains for later, she might need them for even Mala and Throk.
"No..." Was once again whispered by Mala, almost heartbrokenly.

Dagur's twitching starts up again, this time it makes his whole body shake. Shadow's fingers start to spasm as if they have a hasty trigger finger.
No one is willing to say anything, the tension is at its peak.
Mala scoffs.
Ryker growls.
Viggo scowls.
Throk glares.
Dagur spasms. Everyone is aware of the mistake Hiccup just made.
Ryker's grip on the armrest tightens, body tensing and leaning forward, as though to jump out to strike at a moment's notice. A reaction followed closely by the rest of the group.
Dagur spasms again.
It's not an exaggeration, everyone knows. They also know Stoick doesn't know that, and will most likely bull straight to certain death.
Everyone stares, bodies so still one would think time has stopped. Dagur stops twitching, eyes bright with insanity intently staring at the screen, unmoving.
Shadow's body also tenses but for a different reason, ready to act at a moment's notice.
The images paused. There was silence. There was silence so profound one could hear their own beating heart... Bah dum, one beat; realization was setting in. Bah dum, two beats; the watchers' eyes glazed over with murderous intent. Bah dum, three beats; all eyes were on image Stoick. Bah dum, four beats; Dagur lets out a crazed inhumanly insane laugh, leaping to strike with the others following suit. Bah dum, five beats; chains sprung around each of the watchers, slamming them back into their seats, chains tightening until they were unmoving and unmovable.
Shadow sighs, they had gotten them right before they reached the images, one wrong move and all this would have been for nothing. They wince at Dagurs crazed insane anger, combined with the others' shouts of rage and violence. All were using all their might to get out of their bonds, but they held... Thankfully...
Shadow waited until they quieted, realizing raging was going to get them no where.
Through were numerous growls, the room seemed to thunder under its weight. No one was happy, Stoick deserved any pain and suffering he got. He. Hurt. Hiccup. And no one was going to let him get away with it, making him an example for others.
Nonetheless, the watchers stew in their anger, waiting for the final set of images. The ones that explain it all, and possibly leave even more questions than answers.

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
