Selene went back to her room, Pip to his, and the rest of their friends did, too. Besides, the weather was now cloudy and cold. Selene's roommate, Lulu, was on her bed, reading a book. Lulu usually was in the mini library, so Selene could have her privacy while she cracked cases, but today the library was being cleaned.
Selene was just reading a book about Sherlock Holmes (A Study in Scarlet) when there a knock on the door.
"Come in!" said Selene, sitting up.
A girl walked in. She had dark skin, long black hair in intricate braids and had changed the orphanage uniform skirt to leggings, somehow. But Selene had turned the skirt into shorts, so she couldn't say anything.
"Hello," said Selene, motioning for the girl to sit down. "Welcome to Selene's Detective Business."
"Hey." said the girl, not sitting down. "Catchy name."
Selene shrugged. "So, what's your name and your case? Assuming you came here with a case for me to crack."
"I did, come with a case." She said, "And my name is Aria."
"Aria, okay, sit down, you can tell me your case."
Aria glanced at Lulu, and Lulu, catching the look, left the room.
"So," she said, "I have one thing linked to my family past, a-a metal brooch, you could say, in the shape of a shield. It's made out of some type of metal, and it has the letters A.I.P. on the front, and the number 138 on the back."
"And you lost it?" Selene guessed
Aria sighed. "Well, more like it was stolen."
"Really!" said the detective, "Tell me, in detail, what it looks like."
So Aria did. Then she told Selene that she knew her family had lived in Fisherman's Wharf for a bit right by Pier 33, then somehow got driven out, in 1962, lived in different places for a bit, then eventually left her on the porch of the orphanage with the A.I.P. brooch.

"And how do you know all this?" asked Selene
"Oh, Ms. Pinnicle told me." She said.
"Hmmmmm, okay, and do you know your last name?"
"Ummmm, I think it's, Norris? Yeah, something like that.Oh! And I remember one random thing! They owned a shop that sold metal sheets, bars and rods that read Alcatraz Prison on them! And because they sold that Alcatraz stuff, they visited Alcatraz a lot."
"Okay, well, I think it's time for dinner, there'll be an announcement about Alcatraz, so I think you better go, but I'll be working on the case, and if you remember anything else, tell me. Also, thanks for the great case!"
"Uh, sure," said Aria "Thanks for helping me with it, too."
"Anytime!"

As he uncovers more of the truth, bloody secrets are revealed and even darker revelations...I am inspired by A Game of Thrones, Mark Lawrence's hauntingly dark tone, Joe Abercrombie's gritty combat, and Patrick Rothfuss' beautiful prose; seeking to emulate these elements into my own story.
