A few days later. Hilltop.

We preparing for war. Maggie and Sasha have already started to train the people of Hilltop. Maggie's baby was fine and that is perfect.

In times like this i really miss my smartphone because then i would know how dad and the others are doing.

Maggie, Enid and i were eating in a trailer. Daryl and Maggie haven't talked at all. Neither of them knew what to day. Since we stepped foot in Hilltop i felt Daryl's whole presence change. He keeps blaming himself for what happened to Glenn and Abraham. And it hurts me to see Daryl punishing himself like that.

Daryl had been sitting outside, cutting arrows since morning.

I stood up and prepared a plate for Daryl because i know he's not gonna eat if i don't bring it to him "i'm gonna bring him something"

Maggie nodded "okay"

I walked with plate and saw Daryl sitting there in a bench. I walked to him and put the plate on the bench.

Daryl looked at the plate before continuing cutting.

Me "Daryl"

He ignored me.

Me "Daryl"

He looked at me.

I sighed "you have to eat."

He started cutting again.

I rolled my eyes before walking back into the trailer.

Next day. Morning.

I was sitting on the steps of Jesus' trailer, hanging out with him.

I'm good friends with Jesus. Wow, never thought i would ever say that during Zombie apocalypse.

No but serious, he and i became very good friends. And no matter how close he and i will get as friends, i will never forget Glenn. Blood or not, Glenn was my brother and will always be my brother.

Me "Sorry for taking over your trailer"

Jesus "i grew up with a lot of people around. i'm used to it"

Me "big family or group home?"

Jesus "group home. This isn't like that, though.Not the bad parts at least"

I smiled.

Maggie walked to us.

I smiled "Hey"

Maggie sat down on the first step "what are you guys doing?"

Me "hanging out"

Maggie nodded.

Jesus "for the first time, i feel like i belong. Trying to make sure Maggie and Sasha became a part of this like it made me a part of this"

He looked at Maggie "when i was first here..i was never here. I, um..i always found it hard getting close to anyone..neighbors, friends..boyfriends"

My jaw dropped and i started to smirk.

I squealed "this friendship is getting better and better."

He smiled shyly.

Me "Let's not tell Daryl about this brilliant news. "

Maggie asked amused "why?"

Jesus eyed me "jealousy sex?"

I nodded "jealousy sex"

He chuckled "well, i am the last one who's gonna stop you from getting laid"

I smiled "that's why i love you, Jesus"

Then i shook my head "no, but serious, you should try it sometime. You really should, even if it doesn't last. But that is what makes it. Being with each other like it is your last day together"

Maggie nodded "I'm gonna talk to our blacksmith about making more spears. Maybe we can trade with the Kingdom for some body armor. Thing is, what we really need is riot gear. "

I saw Daryl sitting on the same bench he sat on yesterday.

I walked to him "Hello, lost one"

He looked at me and nodded.

Me "You okay?"

Daryl put his things aside "yeah, why?"

Me "did you sleep last night?"

Daryl shot back "did you?"

I sighed.

Daryl pulled me to him so that i was standing between his legs "you're still worried about Ric, aren't you?"

I shook my head "I should've gone with them, Daryl"

Daryl "He didn't want you to come with him. He wanted you to built an alliance with Ezekiel"

Me "and i failed. I failed him"

Daryl shook his head "you didn't fail anyone, princess "

I asked hurt "then why do i feel like it?"

Daryl squeezed my thigh "because that's all in your head"

I smiled a little "i love you"

He chuckled and i kissed him.

He kissed back.

Suddenly we heard a bell.

I let go of Daryl and looked around.

A guy yelled "The Saviors are coming!"

Enid ran to us "we have to get Maggie"

I nodded "Where is she?"

Enid "come on!"

Daryl grabbed the knife and we followed Enid.

We ran to Maggie who was already looking for us.

Me "We will never make it in time.

Enid "come on"

We started to run.

Enid lead us to a basement door.

She opened it "just stay down there. I'll keep them away"

Maggie, Daryl and i ran downstairs into the basement.

Enid "they aren't the same ones who came to Alexandria"

Daryl closed the doors.

Maggie and i looked around.

Daryl was peeking through the slits of the door.

Maggie "Daryl"

He didn't listen.

Maggie "Daryl"

No answer.

Maggie "Daryl!"

He looked at her and walked to us.

We walked into the corner of the basement and opened a door.

We walked inside and closed it.

Suddenly i heard the door open.

Daryl prepared to attack. We ducked.

There was a guy looking around.

He came our way.

He couldn't see us because we were hiding behind boxes. The guy turned his back to us. I saw Daryl preparing to ram the knife in the guy's back.

I put my hand on his forearm holding him back.

He looked at me and i shook my head.

Then the guy left, closing the door.

Daryl rushed to the door and looked through the slits "He's gone"

Maggie sighed "you were gonna kill that guy"

Daryl "he was gonna find us"

Maggie shook her head "he wasn't, and he didn't"

Daryl still had his back to her "he deserved to die. "

Maggie "ever since you and Ken got here, you haven't said a word to me. "

Daryl didn't react.

Maggie "Would you look at me?"

He didn't do it.

Maggie pleaded "please?"

I took a few steps back. It was none of my business.

Daryl slowly turned around.

Did i hear hear him sniff? ow, my man.

Maggie walked to him "Daryl.."

His voice broke "i'm sorry. I'm sorry. "

He sniffed.

Maggie "it wasn't your fault"

He nodded, voice cracking "it was"

Maggie shook her head "no. It wasn't. You're one of the good things in this world.That's what Glenn thought. And he would know, 'cause he was one of the good things, too"

I took a deep breath. I had tears in my eyes too.

Maggie's voice broke "and, u, i wanted to kill that guy, too. I wanted to string them all up and watch them die. But we have to win."

Then she hugged him.

Maggie "help me win"

Daryl nodded.

I whipped my tears away "this talk was long overdue"

They looked at me.

Me "sorry"

They cracked smiles.
