《Alpha Theo || ✓》06 | wolfsbane
It has been a few days and Holly has yet to feel the connection. Sure, she always blushes when I'm near or whenever I reach out to touch her, but there isn't the special connection you'd get when you truly love someone, the connection you automatically get with your mate.
It was obvious that she couldn't feel it between us, she didn't love me. That kills my wolf every time I lay my eyes on her.
Plus, the wolfsbane hasn't left her veins which is quite odd. Usually, the wolfsbane leaves your body after four hours, but my men had used such a improved and heavy amount of the poison-- since we automatically assumed that the Alpha's daughter would be incredibly hard to capture, given she has Alpha blood within her-- that it stays in your veins for a week.
Yes, it's a intense increase, but not only is wolfsbane hard to find, but when used it is mainly used on the Weres that have lost themselves due to either their mate's death or something just as, or almost as heart-breaking.
Excluding torture. Similar torture that I've seen my father provide when he used to be Alpha.
It is known for Weres to go insane after losing their mate, especially if it was murder which most of the time it is. Especially in these past few years.
I looked at Holly, who was sleeping innocently on the bed that I was gracious enough not to sleep in as well. I moved her to my bedroom after finding out she was my mate, I wouldn't dare leaving her in that rusty mess, she deserves the best but I don't want to overwhelm her.
Well, not yet anyways.
It has been a tough few years for Weres. For the last few years, Rogue sights were incredibly common, no matter what pack you were or how strong you were. And the amount of rogue attacks, especially on Alpha's and their mates, increased very largely. None of us Weres even know nor understand why it all started, or why it started to die down now.

Ever since the last attack of rogues in the middle of last year it all died down, the rogues sights were getting smaller and smaller but they were still there. We all are just waiting for it all to start again, which is why the training in packs have increased drastically. We all want to be ready for the next attack, we never know which pack will suffer.
But as cocky as it sounds, my pack won't be the one that suffers if any rogue pack tries to attack.
But right now, the rogue pack isn't the problem.
My mate's is.
It is awful how Holly has no idea what is happening in her pack, even before I ever made a move to kidnap her.
By kidnapping her, she must think that I'm in the wrong, that I'm the one starting it all when it was all started behind her back, by her own family. Was she too fragile to handle what they did?
It was obvious that she wasn't keen on being around me. I would move to touch her, to caress her cheek or even wipe stray hairs off of her face, and she'd flinch away before I could even touch her.
And when I do get the chance to touch her, it would only last seconds before she moved away, looking at everything but my eyes. She was avoiding me, but I definitely wasn't going to avoid her. She is my mate, and I will be with her through everything, even if she doesn't want me too.
I stood up from my seat, I have work to do and I have paperwork to fill in so sitting and watching my mate sleep wasn't ideal at the moment.
I stood over my mate, before leaning in to breathe in her scent as well as giving her a light kiss upon her forehead. I took in her scent, only to take in the scent of wolfsbane instead.

What the hell?
I sniffed her again, around her neck which was were you'd normally inject wolfsbane, and it was strong. Fresh. The last time she was injected was the first time, it was the only time.
Or I thought it was.
I kept in a angry growl, afraid to wake up my angel. Someone injected her without my permission, without my consent. Someone had been injecting my mate behind my back. The question is who, why and how will I kill them.
Before leaving the room I had sniffed it, especially around Holly, but I smelt nothing beside Holly and the wolfsbane. The asshole must be working with witches to cover their scent. I stormed in to my office and let out a intense growl, it shook the house.
I was beyond pissed off.
'Grey, get your fucking ass in here.' I growled in to our mindlink. I wanted to get to the bottom of what was going on, who was injecting my mate without my acknowledgement.
No longer than a minute was Grey in my office. He looked hurried as if he had run from far to get here.
"Do you have any idea what is happening with my mate?" I growled at him, unable to contain my rage. I hardly ever leave my mate alone, this shouldn't be happening.
"Well, no but--"
"No buts. My mate has been injected with wolfsbane again, and I had no idea." I gave him a humorless laugh, looking around for a moment. "Did you just hear that?" I looked back at my Beta. "Me, a powerful, fearless Alpha, had no idea that his mate had been getting injected with doses of wolfsbane, making it impossible for her to feel the full connection with me. I had no fucking idea that my mate was danger! And by the looks of the rogue sightings, which--" I slammed down on my seat, my look was icy, incredibly cool as my eyes narrowed into slits, "--are slim to none, it looks like the person that seems to think my mate is some kind of play toy belongs to my pack."
I stood up quickly, the chair behind me instantly fell to the floor by force.
"You hear that?" I shouted, spit flying out of my mouth. "someone from my fucking pack, is poisoning their own Luna." The papers that were neatly on the desk were now flying in the air, my fist even slamming in to the desk leading to the large crack, the desk close to its expiring date. "Tell me what you think about that."
I looked back at Grey whose was glaring at the broken desk, his teeth gritted. He hated the fact that one of our trusted pack members have been poisoning his Luna almost as much as me.
Almost.
"I think we should find that fucker." He spat out. "How dare they, not only had they stolen the wolfsbane supply but they have been using it to dose up our Lu--"
"What?" I stopped him, I wasn't sure I heard him correctly, even with our werewolf hearing. "Someone stole the wolfsbane supply?"
Grey went visibly pale and he gulped. I eyed his expression, he was hiding something.
"Grey, how much did they take?" God, I hope they didn't take the entire load. It was equivalent to two packs, as well as a little extra for bypassers. I don't mean making them pass out for a certain amount of time, I mean death.
"Grey, how much did that bastard take?"
"All of it."

The London Phantom: A Superhero Webnovel
London is an old city. It has survived floods, fires, plagues and the man-made smog of industry. It has stood firm against the armies of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and the aerial might of the Luftwaffe. It has borne witness to dynsatic feuds, civil wars, military occupation and the sin of regicide. Through all these disasters the city has survived not through force of arms, though its walls were once the envy of the world, but through adapting to the times. Enemies become dependant on the city, and the wealth of the world that flows through it, and so become new allies. If the rulers change, then the city welcomes them with open arms, and open lines of credit. In this way the city seeks to preserve its ancient rights and position of power. Superheroes are a new phenomenon. The first superpowered man walked out of the Nevada desert in 1950, and the world was forever changed. Across the planet, men and women with exceptional abilities made themselves known. At first, they were little more than another source of fear in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction, but over time attitudes changed and the concept of the Superhero was created in the city of Los Angeles. From there the phenomenon spread across the globe; superheroes went from being feared arms of the state to a symbol of hope in these maddening times. Times have changed. Sixty years from the emergence of the first superhero, the City of London stands on a precipice. Two years have passed since the madman Fawkes nearly brought down the United Kingdom and the remnants of the Bow Street Runners, London's premier superhero team, are struggling to keep order in a city that seems on the brink of collapse. London stands on a knife's edge, with criminal organisations that once stuck to the shadows becoming more bold, and ancient powers from myth and legend making themselves known. Alexander Laszewski has recently 'awakened' and has become entirely unremakable, effectively making himself invisible to the world. He must use his newfound power to navigate a city on the edge of collapse. If only he could figure out how to turn it off.

Quantum Worlds (A LitRPG dark fantasy)
Find the missing VIP in an illegal game world. Kill the monsters. Return home for the paycheck. Decorated Marine commander, Damon Williams, never thought his latest mission would take place in a full-immersion world fighting monsters… but when a high-value VIP disappears after being stealthily transported to a banned MMORPG, he's their only hope. Damon must lead a group of rescuers into an unforgiving world infested with terrifying monsters and worse. Pain is real. Death is permanent. He and his crew must adapt quickly, trust each other, and fight to survive. And if all that's not bad enough, they'll also have to race against time to avoid the realm’s disintegration and mutation effects. Quantum Worlds features race and class designations, unique creatures, dungeon crawling, level progression and Easter eggs that reference video games and pop culture. This a dark fantasy, but it also has sprinklings of humor throughout. It is a multi-cast, multi-pov story. In many ways, it is a melding of one of my favorite novels, “The Stand”, with my favourite genre, LitRPG. I don’t espouse to be anywhere near Stephen King, but I would like to think that I have succeeded in many areas here (you’ll be the judge of that). So, this thriller-style story has a lot of build-up and lots of drama. When it hits the 100-page mark, it starts to take off with some intense action and fight scenes (although there are battles long before that). Nothing comes easy for this group of rescuers. And the dangers are very real. This saga is already over 100 chapters with more to come. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your reviews, comments, and feedback. Thanks. Chapters are uploaded every day at noon ET. Please do not repost this work anywhere without my written permission. Quantum Worlds is a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge.
