《Alpha Theo || ✓》39 | truth

I didn't know what to do.
I didn't know how to process the information I had been given. I felt my eyes widen, looking at the two twins in front of me, their words echoing through my head.
Nadine? As in Theo's dead aunt Nadine? My mind wandered to when Theo sat me down and told me about what happened years ago between her and my mother.
Out of everything that Theo had told me, the thing that hit me the most was my mother. She was seen killing Nadine, but for my whole life, I could never picture her harming anymore-- She wasn't the type to do so, surely.
I knew that in the past she was an aggressive wolf before her and my father got together, Uncle Mace and Uncle Lane would always tell me stories about how heroic my mother was during her time. But when it came to having children, she decided that it was the best thing to step down.
All my mind she has been soft to me, I couldn't see her killing Nadine.
"Theo--" I couldn't help but stutter, I was helpless. I was chained on to a chair-- and apparently I was faced with twins seeking revenge. "--Theo never told me that Nadine had children." Kara scoffed at me.
"Oh please, Theo didn't know she even had children. She wasn't exactly a model pack member, disappearing for months or even years." I frowned, how did Theo not tell me that about his aunt?
Part of me was irritated with Theo for leaving information out of the story but I didn't have the time to be angry at him. I was currently sitting in front of two people who didn't like me very much clearly.
"Well Theo would have told me about her having mate," I brought up-- surely that was something Theo would have confided in me about while telling me his past. Kai pushed off my knees, standing straight as he glanced down at me with a blank look in his eyes-- He looked nothing like he usually does, it was almost frightening.
Kara laughed humourlessly, crossing her arms as she leaned on the wall behind her. "She didn't,"
I scrunched my face in confusion. "But you said you wer--"
"Our mother was a whore," Kai spoke up, his voice hard yet empty. My eyes widened slightly.
It was uncommon for a woman who was destined to a mate by the Moon Goddess to become impregnated by a male who wasn't hers. There was a 0.1% fertility rate. It was known that if a woman was to be impregnated by a someone who wasn't her mate, she would be shunned by the entire pack and would automatically a rogue.

It would make sense that she had disappeared while pregnant. If one was to catch her scent they would have automatically discovered that she was carrying children who didn't come from her mate.
"But Nadine has nothing to do with me," Again, Kara scoffed, her eyes widened as she looked at me from across the room.
"Nothing to do with you?" She slowly stalked across the room, getting closer to me. "Wasn't your mother the one that killed her?" I bit down my lip aggressively, before shaking my head and lifting my chin up. I was chained down like a dog, but I wasn't going to look weak in front of my inferiors.
That's what they were-- my inferiors. I was Luna after all.
"You don't know that my mother had anything to do with her death--" Kara suddenly inched her face closer to mine, pushing her hands on the arms of the chair-- her fingers wrapping viciously around my arms.
She tilted her head down, looking up at me with our faces inches apart. "There was an eye-witness."
I was quick to match her demeanour. "One eye-witness? That's all you got?" I spoke through gritted teeth. Almost instinctively, I was much more protection over my mother than my father.
Kara huffed through her nose, the air hitting me as she lifted her head up-- now looking down at me. "The eye-witness happened to be our father."
For a moment, my face fell. Their father was part of the pack-- he was the warrior that supposedly saw my mother kill Nadine? For some reason, I still couldn't quite believe it.
I didn't know if it was my love for Reese Daniels or if it was my common sense, but there weren't enough reliable sources in this storyline.
From behind Kara, I heard Kai sigh. My eyes flickered at him before focusing back on Kara, her eyes boring back into mine.
Suddenly, her glare disappeared, a smirk spreading on her face. Her face said happiness, yer her eyes were dull and empty. "But you know the funny thing?" She asked rhetorically, moving to inch her chin at me. "She didn't even have to do anything to kill her."
My brows furrowed in confusion, but I continued to hold my head high. "What?" While I was still holding strong, I was befuddled by her words.
"Oh," The woman in front of me laughed, before turning her head to look at her brother. "Why don't you tell her?"

"No," He said bluntly, his attention on the book he must have already brought into the room.
He definitely wasn't a happy person, was he?
I watched closely at Kara as she pouted at her twin brother. "Boring," She sang before turning her head back at me. "Guess I'll just have to tell you," She lowered herself again, bending down to my knees, with her arms crossed across her own.
"Your mother was going to be killed by a rogue, but our mother threw herself in the way. And what did she get in return? Nothing, your mother was then found and they just left her body there to rot." Her tone went from happy to deadly.
My mother didn't kill Nadine after all.
I was still confused though, why the act of revenge if both Kara and Kai knew my mother didn't kill theirs? "So my mother is innocent?" I stared blankly at my capturer.
Suddenly Kara shot up, her hand flung through the air as it lashed me on the face. I twisted on the impact, instantly pain shot through my entire face. She then grabbed me by my chin, lanking my face forward.
"My mother died because of your own. If it wasn't for her, Nadine would be alive right now." Kara sneered at me, her teeth gritted so tightly, I was surprised they didn't turn into dust. "Your mother is guilty, and she will pay for her crimes."
Crimes?
I immediately what was going on. It was now clear to me that this bitch was crazy.
"And you know what's even funnier?" She asked at me, her eyes almost sparkling with mischief. "I actually saved your mother once,"
What?
As if she would read my thoughts, she nodded at me. "Yep, she was this close--" She directed to her, her index finger and thumb barely an inch apart. "--from being slaughtered by Theo's father, but I ran in the way to protect her."
I looked up at Kara, my eyes furrowed and my face scrunched. "Why would you do that if you hated her?"
She cackled for a moment, attempting to smother her laugh with her hand but failing miserably before speaking up. "Because I wanted to be the one to kill her,"
I felt rage within me combust. I had been sitting here so long-- listening to this poor excuse of Shewolf damage my mother's good name, and threatening her life over and over again. At this very moment, she was much more helpless than me with herself being bedridden with a disease my father didn't know how to cure.
I was very protective of her, and I wasn't going to let these two pathetic portraits of Weres touch my mother.
Kai then spoke up. "We are going to kill your mother, just like we killed your uncle."
I growled loudly, I felt something rumble within me. The anger within me almost awoke the wolf sleeping in my mind, my wolf shuffling.
Wake up! I roared in my head, begging for my wolf to get up.
The twins killed Lane? I could feel myself rumbling with rage as I yanked on the chains that held onto my hands and feet.
I didn't know how long I was down or how much wolfsbane they had given me, but it almost felt like my body was waking up.
Suddenly, the chains around my wrists and ankles began to heat up. My wolf continued to shuffle within me.
Kara glared down at me, her eyes studying me as I continued to growl lowly at me, I could feel my fangs grow very slowly.
But before I could fully wake my wolf from its slumber, Kara's eyes darted to my wrists going wide for a moment in time. I looked down myself, noticing the skin that was surrounding the silver chains going red.
Shit. She knew.
Almost in a blink of an eye, a syringe was in her hands and she was darting for my neck. I thrashed against her, trying my hardest to block her attempts at jabbing the needle in my veins but her strength was too much-- my wolf hadn't fully recovered from the wolfsbane, she was too weak.
I was too weak.
I took a sharp intake, gasping as a sharp pinch spread through my neck.
"Fucking bitch," Kara swore under her breath, pushing her body off mine. I couldn't help but let my head slump forward, my neck giving out.
"I'm going to--"
"What?" Kara piped up. "What are you going to do?"
I felt my consciousness slipping away from me again, but by using the last of my strength I forced myself to look back up at Kara.
"I'm going to kill you."

NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.
