Nathan's POV
~edited~
Luckily, I did end up sleeping. I had a feeling it would be one of those long days. Felicia was still asleep next to me. It was 01:00 now so I carefully got out of the bed.
I went to the bathroom to take a shower. I stopped by the mirror, first. Of course, I looked bad. My eyes were still red but not too much and there were bags under my eyes.
I sighed and walked away from the mirror. I stripped and walked inside the shower. I turned the water to hot.
It hurt, but I didn't care. It didn't compare to the pain my heart was going through with my princess in the hospital, fighting for her life. I washed my whole body and a while later, I stepped out.
I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked back to my room. Felicia was awake, sitting up on the bed. "Go take a bath. I'll go take some clothes for you. It's usually cold in the morning," I told her.
She nodded and got off of the bed, walking past me to my bathroom. I did my morning stuff and wore my clothes.
It was just some black jeans, a black t-shirt, black Nike Air force and a black hoodie. I was going all black today. I exited my room and got inside my sister's, which was just across from mine.
It was too purple for my liking. I walked into her closet and got her a black comfy dress, a white parka jacket, a black beanie and white boots.
I carried them all in my hands and went back to my room. I placed the clothes on the bed. While waiting for her to finish, I took my phone and entered the Gallery app.
I clicked the 'Princess and I' album. It was filled with pictures of me and her together but more of her alone. I loved looking at these pictures.
Seeing how happy she was with me made my heart leap with joy. I had stolen pictures of her sleeping, her head rested on my chest.
Those were my favorite, even though we weren't a couple at the time. My sister walked back into my room. "Thanks," she said pointing at the clothes.
I nodded. She took them and went to the bathroom again. I directed my attention to the pictures. I missed her, and there was no doubt in that.
What would I be doing now if she was here? Most likely, still sleeping.
I turned off my phone and pushed it into my jean pocket. Vanessa's phone was on the bedside table. I took it, in case her siblings asked something again.
A few minutes later, Felicia walked out fully clothed. "Should we go now? I'm hungry," she said, crossing her arms. I rolled my eyes.
"Fine. I'll make you breakfast. Let's go to the kitchen," I told her and we exited my room. We descended the stairs and turned right.
We walked a little bit further after that and then entered the first door to our left. I could only make her cereal.

I took Coco Pops, knowing she loved them and made her the breakfast. I sat down across from her as she ate, just scrolling through Facebook, as I waited for her to finish.
"An't you going to eat?" She questioned, her mouth filled with cereal. I withheld my irritation. "No," I simply replied. I wasn't hungry so I was not going to eat.
"When last you eat?" She asked, again. I rolled my eyes. "Yesterday," I answered. She could tell I wasn't going to budge because she kept quiet after my reply.
"Okay, I am done," she said and pushed the bowl to me. I placed my phone on the dining table and took her bowl.
I washed it in the sink and rinsed it, before putting it on the dish rack. "Okay, let's go," I said to her and we walked out of the dining room.
We got out of the house and immediately got engulfed in cold morning air. It was certainly going to be cold the whole day.
I took my sister's hands and led her to my car. I opened the backseat door and she got inside. She sat in the middle and I put a seatbelt on her.
I almost thought she would complain about not sitting at the front. I closed the door and entered the driver's side. The engine roared to life and I drove off.
Schools were closed and I was done with my exams, only waiting for the results.
"After you've seen her, do you want to go back home?" I asked her. She shook her head.
"No. I don't want to go back home. It's bowing. I'll spend thr day with you," she replied.
"Okay, fine by me. Just don't catch a cold," I joked.
"I won't," she said. I drove with my sister in silence. It was completely comfortable.
Though it was a bad time, I was going to bond with my sister today. I realized that I hadn't been giving her much attention. That was wrong of me, I have to admit.
I wanted to be a better brother to her. She was so young though. The age gap is unbelievable. My parents are around forty-five years, I think.
There were twins, after me actually. But I didn't want to talk about them. It would open up old wounds. I already have Vanessa; I couldn't be crying about something else too.
We finally arrived at the hospital, stepped out of the car and closed the doors. I locked it and we started walking towards the entrance.
We entered the hospital and since I knew where Vanessa was, I didn't stop at the reception. Very few people were here.
That blank look was still present on my face. We stepped inside Vanessa's room. Instantly, Felicia ran towards her and clasped a hand on her mouth, letting out a loud gasp.
She reached for Vanessa's hand and clutched it in hers. I was still standing by the door watching her. "Big sissy, I'm sorry. I hope you'll be okay. I want us to bond. I want to know you more. Please wake up," she whispered.

My heart broke. Vanessa is was Felicia's only chance at having a big sister. I realized it at that moment.
I walked closer to them and sat next to Felicia. "She'll be okay, sis. Don't worry," I reassured her. She nodded a little.
Felicia sat on my lap and we stayed there, just staring at my princess. The time was four o'clock. I don't know when, but I found myself drifting to sleep.
A light tap on my shoulder made me jerk awake. I looked at my left and saw a woman. She looked pretty old, but not too much.
"Hello," she greeted. My eyes darted to everyone who was in the room. Five people?! When did they even get here? I shifted in my seat and cleared my throat.
"Um...hi," I greeted back, my eyebrows furrowed in utter confusion.
"We are Vanessa's siblings if you're wondering. Who are you?" Another woman asked.
They looked similar to Vanessa and I mean all of them. Even her brother, wo was busy staring at his phone. The resemblance was incredible.
"I'm Nathan. This is my sister, Felicia," I introduced us. "Are you the friend who told us the news, yesterday?" A woman who looked more like Seth, questioned.
I guessed she was his twin.
"Yes, I am," I responded, gulping nervously.
"Are you her boyfriend?" The woman who woke me up asked. Gosh, I was feeling more and more uncomfortable with them here.
"It's...complicated," I replied.
"Well, I'm Zanniah but you can call me Zan. I'm 35," she introduced herself. I gave her a smile and nodded.
The others started introducing themselves, too.
"Farah. I'm married and 38 years old."
"Seleene. I'm still single and I'm 29. Am Seth's twin." I knew it.
"Okay, since you're also adding your marital status when introducing yourselves let me tell him mine, too."
We chuckled at Zan. "I'm married. Now, you can continue."
"Felix. I'm 41 and single. I'm their oldest sister."
"Nick. 31 and single," the guy said.
He wasn't much of a talker, I'm guessing. "Pri–Vanessa is your youngest sister?" I almost slipped. It felt weird calling her by her full name.
"Yep. Our dear little sis. Is that your child or..." I quickly shook my head with a nervous laugh. "No, no. She's my little sister. She's 7 years old," I told them.
"And how old are you?" Farah asked. "I'm twenty-two," I replied. They all nodded. "Well, I'll be leaving you guys alone with Princess. Uh...I mean, Vanessa," I said and stood up.
"Aww! You call her 'Princess'? That is so cute," Zan gushed. Okay, she was seriously making me blush. "I know, right?" Farah agreed, her eyes wide in excitement.
I rolled my eyes and held in a comment. I just walked out of the room, swiftly. I sat down on a chair. Felicia was still sleep in my arms.
"Hey, cuz," I heard a voice from the distance. I snapped my head to Dan. "Oh...hey, Danny," I greeted back. "What are you doing sitting there?"
"Her five siblings are in there," I told him. "Oh. Well, the time is quarter-to ten. We should go find Vane an apartment," he suggested.
I nodded and stood up. "Let's go." We walked in silence out of the hospital. I went to my car and Danny went to Bella's.
I assumed he left Bella back at the university. I laid Feli slowly on the backseat. I buckled the seatbelt.
I got in the driver's seat and started driving, letting Danny lead the way. We drove for a while and then Danny drove inside a parking lot.
I followed him and parked my car next to his. We got out at the same time. I was just going to leave Feli there, fast asleep. I couldn't carry her everywhere.
I left my phone in the car, just in case she woke up and got bored. She could play some games.
The building was really beautiful and well kept. It screamed expensive. But I didn't care. There was loads and loads of money in my bank account–not that I was bragging or anything.
Danny led the way to the receptionist. He shined his pearly white teeth. "Hello, ma'am. We heard there was a vacant apartment here. Is it still available?"
The receptionist nodded. "Yes, sir. Let me lead the way." So, we followed closely behind her. We walked inside the elevator and she pressed the buttons.
It continued going up and up and up, longer than I expected. Finally, it dinged and we walked out.
She opened the third door on the right. We got inside and it was empty. There was no furniture. Perfect.
"I would explore with you but unfortunately, I have to go back to my desk. I hope you will like it," she told us.
It was fortunate actually.
It was nice and spacious inside. On my right, was a space for a kitchen; on my left was space for a living room.
There was a straight corridor in front of me. I walked down it. First, there was a door and it was a bedroom. I'd make it the master bedroom.
The following three doors also looked like space for rooms. And then other doors were just empty. We'd think of something.
I walked back into the kitchen. "We're taking it," Danny and I said, simultaneously. I smiled. "Okay, let's go tell the receptionist," Danny said and we walked out.
We reached the ground floor and stalked towards the receptionist. "We liked it and we're taking it," I got straight to the point.
She jumped up and down in delight. "That's great! I'll contact the landlord. You can leave your details and I'll get back to you."
I wrote down my name and number on a piece of paper and we finally left that place. Soon, I'd be coming here more often.
Princess was going to be so surprised when she sees this.
