"Yes Daddy"

"I hope Mommy will like it" I said to my son

"Yes she loves pasta" He replied his eyes on my hands cutting the vegetables

It's the first time I am cooking with Lucas in Elissa's apartment we are going to prepare lunch while Eli is out buying some groceries. It wasn't easy to convince her to let me see her. It's been almost a month since I saw her; I missed her so much. But thanks to Lucas who helped me a lot she ended up accepting. He definitely deserves a good present for this.

She really didn't appreciate our last conversation about Leo, but I don't regret it I just can't see him with her anymore. She was very angry and I think she still is...

I had to beg her to make her accept my visit today and what it is better than a delicious meal to try mending her.

"What will be the dessert Daddy?"

"I thought about a passion fruit cheesecake what do you think?"

"I never eat it before" He pouted

"Do you ever taste a cheesecake champion?"

"I did but not with passion fruit"

I smiled he is so cute

"It's the same thing son only the fruit changes"

"Huumm" He said "I want to help you please"

"Yes why not, what about you wash the fruit?"

He took the pieces of passion fruit and headed to the sink but he is still too short.

"Do you want me to carry you" I asked

"No I want to do it myself"

So I looked at him lovingly pulling the chair towards the sink and climb on it to turn on the tap. He is somehow stubborn in an intelligent way; I noticed that he often wants to do the things by himself. Elissa made of him a very independent boy.

We continued to prepare the lunch, we almost finished when Elissa came. She was behaving weirdly, she was not the same.

I decided to enlighten her mood but in vain. She ate in silence just speaking when Lucas spoke to her or replied to his questions, and didn't look at me once. Something happen other than our 'discussion'.

I decided to speak to her when we were cleaning the kitchen

"Is everything ok" I asked even if I know there is nothing ok but I didn't know how to start

"Yes" She simply replied

"But you are behaving... well weirdly"

She glared at me for a moment

"This situation is weird not me" She snapped turning her finger in the air

"We just had lunch" I sighed

"It's not just lunch and you know that. It's you invading our space and I don't want it. You are playing the game of a normal family except we're not a family" She said and walked to the living room where Lucas was watching TV.

Ouch that hurts...

But I can't be susceptible, I deserve it all. I followed her and decide to change the topic

"Hailey and Jeff's wedding is soon in two weeks only" I said

"Yeeah I am so happy" Lucas said merrily

But the one I wanted to speak didn't so I tried again

"Do you have your dress?"

She gave me the Are you serious look, but I didn't deflate

"What? It's a very important topic"

"I don't think so, but if you absolutely want to know I'm the bridesmaid so Hailey and I chose the dress already"

"Ah... good" I replied bending my eyes searching for something to say

"You need a second dress you know for the reception" I said 

She frowned and replied

"I didn't think about it..."

Yes that's what I want

"We can go shopping together, I need a suit too and I guess it's the same for Lucas"

"Thank you, I will manage and for Lucas Hailey bought something for him" Eli said coldly

"Come on Elissa let's do it together it's just shopping and in addition I want to match my suit with Luca's. What do you say about this son?" I asked Lucas

"I don't understand" He replied with his innocent face

We chuckled

"It means that you and me we can have the same clothes for the wedding. Do you want that?"

"Oh yes I want to be like daddy" He said jumping on the couch, looking at his mother. She nodded at him which resulted to a huge grin from him and me.

"Give me five champion" I said winking at him.

It's a first step to spend more time with her. We were sitting in silence when Lucas asked

"Mommy you and daddy had a wedding too?"

We looked at each other; I met with a sad look she didn't respond so I did it

"Yes buddy a beautiful one"

"Oh I am sad why I was not with you?"

"Well you were not born yet baby" I said ruffling his hair

"Huum" He replied

An idea popped in my brain

"Elissa you can show our wedding's album photo to Lucas?"

"Oh yes please Mommy I want to see them"

She played with her fingers for a time and sighed

"Ok I will bring them"

After some minutes she came back with the albums; the same I wanted to throw away. I am such an asshole

We made ourselves comfortable and began to look at all these fabulous memories; there are our wedding's photos, honeymoon's ones and all the other we took she kept them all...Elissa was so beautiful, we were so happy that's hurting to look at them without remorse and regret. She was telling at Lucas our story, I looked at her with a total admiration she remembered certain details that I forgot. She told the stories sometimes with a laugh, sometime with a smile a happy or sad one, but what made me feel a complete bastard was her watery eyes.

This woman is a great woman, a great person, a loving mother and an incredible wife and I am the fool man that let her slip out of his hands. I will gladly give all I own to make her my wife again.

I will definitely make her mine again.
