《The Roommate: A Mathew Barzal Fanfiction》10. Jade

10.
I was woken up by the sudden vibration of my phone on the night stand. I checked the alarm clock first before grabbing my phone.
It's still ten-thirty in the evening, so basically I was just asleep for like thirty minutes. A text from Tori and Collins appeared on the screen.
: we just got back. :)
: we leave 2morrow around 7 Anders said.
: brace urself hun! ;)
What's that supposed to mean?
I immediately shoot a text back to Collins asking him the same question, but as I was about to press send a knock on my door interrupts me.
Maybe this is Collins bringing liquors, maybe telling me to brace myself because he's about to bring the party here in my room.
I immediately went out of the bed and opened the door. And the whole world suddenly stopped when a piercing hazelnut eyes glued into me as I swing the door open.
I wasn't able to breath for five seconds.
Mat is on my door.
I gulped the sudden lump on my throat. "What are you doing here?"
"Can we talk inside?" He said, not answering my questions.
I hesitated for a bit but I'm also afraid that Tori or Ander might see us. So I open the door wider, letting him in.
He went straight to my bed and sat on the edge as I close the door behind me. I was just there standing gripping the door knob while waiting for him to talk.
"What are you doing in there?" He said turning the lampshade at the bedside table on. "C'mere."
"No. I'm fine here." I said firmly. I don't want to be anywhere near him. "What do you want?"
He removed his cap and brushed his hand on his dark hair and stood up. Walking towards me.

Oh shit! Where should I go? I can't clearly step back if he'll try to touch me. Now I'm regretting why I decided to just stand here!
He closed the gap between us and before I can react he already planted both of his hands on my waist pulling me closer to him as he bumps his forehead to mine.
Gazing on my lips, he spoke on a low husky tone. "I want you."
My breath hitched hearing those words, feeling his heavy breath on my face as he caress my back with his big strong hands.
My knees grow weaker.
"I've been dying to touch you Jade." He added. "Two weeks without talking and seeing you was torture!"
He touched my cheeks. "Will you please stop doing that and give me a shot?"
I looked through his eyes.
"Jade?" He begs cupping my face.
And finally... Finally! I found my voice.
"And why would I do that? How can I trust you?"
"Let me prove it to you, Jade." He responded right away. "I'm not an asshole manwhore you think I am. Jade please." He said bumping his forehead to mine again desperately pleading for me.
I'm blink the tears that are starting to form.
"Please?" He said and with that I lose my control.
I kissed him. I have been dying to hear those words come out from his mouth.
He kissed me back hungrily, not even stopping to catch for our breathes. I'm not the only one who's been feeling this up too. And I'm really glad he feels the same way for me!
Oh shit!
I broke the kiss.
What did I just told myself before?
I don't want to be weak this time, not over a hockey player named Mathew Barzal.

"I'm sorry." I blurted out.
"For what?" Mat asked looking at me confused.
"You should go now." I said because I don't have anything else to say. "Seriously."
"But-- Alright. I'm sorry I kissed you." He apologized.
"No. I'm sorry I kissed you first." I said not looking on him.
He pulled my chin to look on him giving me his gorgeous smile. He kissed me again but I only let it last for like ten seconds.
"You should go now." I said.
He's still looking at me confused. "W-we're cool Barzy, don't worry. I just-- can we take it slow?"
He smiled. "Of course Jadey." And he planted a kiss on my forehead. "I see you tomorrow?"
I nodded.
"Thank you for giving me a shot Jade." He said as I open the door for him. "I promise, you won't regret it."
He said and kissed me on the cheeks.
Damn!
I still did let his charm get into me! But I hope he's right.
I hope he won't let me down this time.

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
