《Marvel One-Shots》Pow Pow

Peter looked over the large city as the sun rose above the horizon. His cape flapped in the wind as the breeze started to pick up. He stared down at the cars that started to drive through, their lights shining over the streets. Buildings were quiet and dark, with the occasional baby cry, laugh of kids staying up, the honking of cars, and the small number of lights turning on as people started to get ready for work. The morning smell was crisp with the familiar smell he had always known.
He looked back up to the sun to see it had moved higher in the sky. Blue started to tint the dark colors of the sky as the orange, yellow, and pink colors of a new day swirled into the sky. Stars disappeared as the moon became less visible. Peter heard a whistle in the distance. He turned around to see two of the Avengers staring at him. Peter's cape fluttered around him as he turned, his soft brown curls following in the direction of the breeze. "Hey dad, hey pops", his voice was a whisper but it seemed so loud. His dads smiled at him as their eyes glinted with pride, "Hey Pete. How was your patrol?", Iron man questioned.
"You know, being the top superhero isn't easy." His pops said while smiling at his adopted son.
The child grinned at the two heroes before him. He ran towards them, his cape flapping behind him. He jumped into the arms of the super soldier and laid his head against his pops' chest. "I mean, being CaptainMan isn't easy, huh sport?" Tony said.
Peter shook his head up and down. He pointed towards the floor telling his pops he wanted down. "Now let's go save the world!" Ironman used his boosters and Cap jumped down and scaled the building. Peter jumped off the skyscraper and flew off after his parents.

He just loved being a hero.

The young child awoke to the sound of his alarm playing AC/DC out of the speakers. He looked to the large windows covering a whole section of his room. He squinted with tired eyes and looked at the still dark sky. He looked at the window in confusion. He looked back to his clock wondering why it had woken him up so early.
Now that he was awake, Peter slipped out of his Avengers themed comforter as his feet made a soft noise on the wooden floors. His feet padded across the room as he made his way to the bathroom. He stepped on top of the small stool next to the counter. He brushed his teeth and then went to the bathroom. When he came out, both Steve and Tony were there wearing grins.
"...why are you looking at me that way?", Peter questioned as he rubbed his eyes.
"You didn't forget did you?", Steve asked.
"Well, our little genius is going to kindergarten." Tony said as his grin grew even wider.
Peter's eyes widened in realization. He quickly shooed his parents out in excitement as he told them he had to get ready. He pulled on some shorts and a little Thor tee-shirt was pulled over his head. He put on his tiny tennis shoes and grabbed his Avengers backpack. He then ran to the kitchen.
Bouncing on his chair, Natasha slid Peter a plate of peanut butter toast. "You excited Peter?"
The young boy nodded excitedly as he continued to inhale his toast. He slid the plate back to Natasha, signaling her that he had finished. He jumped off the stool and ran around the counter, hugging her legs. She pat his head and then he ran off again towards the garage.

Peter ran towards Happy and hopped into the car. "Where's pops and dad?", he asked.
"Well, they had a quick thing to do so, they promised to pick you up. They wanted you to tell them all about your day."
"Oh okay." Peter quickly masked his disappointment and started to think about all he would get to learn at school. He had always been told he was smarter than others but he didn't mind. He watched the streets fly by as the car moved throughout the city. His parents didn't want him to have much attention because they were his parents so they put him in a public school system down in Queens, under the name of Peter Parker instead of Peter Stark-Rodgers.
When they pulled up to Midtown Elementary School, Peter couldn't contain his excitement. Happy walked him up to the front office and signed him in for the first day. He then walked Peter down to the Kindergarten rooms and said his goodbyes as Peter ran into the room.
Peter looked around in awe. There were books all in the cupboards, crayons in buckets on the tables, and a rainbow carpet in the middle. A few kids were already situated on the carpet but one was sitting a bit farther than the rest. He was a slightly larger boy, with black hair and a little bit darker skin. Peter walked over to the boy and plopped right down next to him.
When he looked over, the other boy had looked at him with wide, teary eyes. "Hey! I'm Peter!!", he said as he put out his hand for the other boy to shake. The little boy looked hesitant but grabbed Peter's hand. "I'm..-I'm Ned."
"Do you want to be friends? If you do, I love Star Wars."
Ned looked at Peter and then smiled. "I love Star Wars too!"
The two boys instantly became best friends in that moment and they both sat in the green row of the carpet.
Throughout the day, they got to meet their classmates. Peter liked this girl named MJ. She stood up for Ned when this rude kid named Flash made fun of Ned. He thought she was cool. His teacher, Mrs. Rubay, had them play some games and then color. She was surprised seeing how smart her class was, especially Peter.
At one point the class starting talking about their favorite Avengers. Most of the girls had favored Black Widow but a few had liked Captain America. Peter was having trouble choosing, but considering not many of his classmates had chosen his dad, he said Ironman.
"And why is Ironman your favorite Peter?", Mrs. Rubay asked.
"Because he's super cool and funny and he goes pow pow."
The teacher looked at him confused, "pow pow?"
"You know his blasters make that noise."
The rest of the class had then decided that the phrase "pow pow" was now their favorite thing to say so they all ran around screaming that for the rest of the day.
When Tony and Steve asked Peter how his day was, all he said was "pow pow".
That left the two to stare at their son in confusion for the rest of the ride home.

Bleached Nightmare
500 years into the future, technological progress has stagnated. Wracked by a series of problems like climate change, lack of resources and the innate human lust for war, the geopolitical landscape of planet Earth is radically different, and quality of life is far from what it was in the past. While technical development and research into realistically feasible space travel has made leaps and bounds, this has come at the cost of a world that is reeling from centuries of technical stagnation in other aspects of life. The establishment of a mining colony on Mars has led to the discovery of a new, rare material called sarinium; though it is extremely tensile and durable, it has a very low melting point. The discovery of this metal leads to large mechanical infantry- dubbed 'Spirit Striders', they are six to ten meters tall and as famed for the pride they provide a nation as they are a lethally mobile heavy weapons platform. The story follows the character of Marilin, who must both figure the enigma that is her past, and what this means for her allegiances in the future. Despite her genetically physical frailty, she seeks to gain power through a vessel that will channel her wish to change the world- the Spirit Strider. --- I hope you all enjoy my work. This is a story that I began writing over four years ago in my beginning years of high school, and have cast aside unfinished in the past two years. Though it is not up to my current standards, I hope you all may find some enjoyment in it. Happy reading.
