Sorry it's late!
••••••••••••••••••
It was dark.
Too dark.
Peter walked around in complete darkness, he couldn't even see his own feet.
"Hello?"
His voice echoed off invisible walls.
Peter could feel his chest tighten slightly with a growing panic.
'Where the hell am I?'
Peter continued to walk around. The silence was causing a creeping panic to flow through the young heroes body.
drip
drop
drip....
Peter went towards the only source of sound. He didn't see anything but the sound continued.
drop
drip
drip...
Then a splash noise bounded through Peter' ears as he fell through the puddle, his screams silenced in the mysterious liquid.
When he came too again, he looked at his surroundings. His breath hitches.
"No-no no no"
Peter whimpered as he tried to move backwards but he remained in the same spot on the tiled floor of a small store.
'Please no'
Lights flashed as sirens wailed.
Peter's ears filled with the loud ringing, and the sound of screams.
A weight had suddenly been placed on his legs. Peter looked down seeing the dead body of his Uncle Ben, blood pooling under his body, the blood dripping onto the once clean floor.
"It's all your fault". Peter looked up to see the grinning face of the man, his already fired gun hanging in his hand. "If only you moved faster Spider-Man."
Peter couldn't take it any longer.
He ran
The sirens and screams grew louder, the images of his uncle and the blood dripping on the floor flashed by quickly.
Peter's breathing quickened and he fell to the floor, sobs shaking his body and he curled into himself.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry..."

Peter jolted up in his bed, hitting his head on the ceiling.
'ouch that hurt'

His breathing was still fast and ragged, his sheets covered in sweat.
Peter looked around quickly, slightly relieved to see his bedroom, his computer, and his small desk.
But that wasn't enough to stop the horrific images plaguing his mind.
With blurry eyes, Peter pulled his phone out of the wall where it had been charging.
Small sobs still came out of the boy, as he scrolled through his contacts in need of some sort of comfort.
'Ned' he thought, 'please be awake'
Are you up?
Why are you up?
Dude please don't laugh..I had a really bad nightmare and I can't seem to calm down. pls help man.
Oh shit. Sorry. Do you want to talk about it?
————————————————————————
Tony had been working on a few trinkets in the lab when his phone buzzed.
'Wonder who else is up at this hour'
Tony frowned slightly. Why was the kid up at 2:30 in the morning? He opened the messages.
Peter seemed to be in distress so Tony put his wrench down and chatted with the teen over text. The young hero explained his nightmare and to be honest, it sounded horrible.
If you want, you can hang here tomorrow. We can chat some more if your up to it. I know talking to someone can help.
Thanks Ned. I needed that. I really appreciate it.
Tony stared at his phone in shock and in slight amusement. 'pftttt. The kid thought he was talking to Ned.'
Hey uh, Pete? Look who your'e texting.
Why?
OH MY GOSH. IM SO SORRY MR STARK. I HAD NO IDEA.
Hey kid it's fine. I meant what I said.
Thank you Mr.Stark. See you tomorrow?

Well, I guess he had the wrong number.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

Daily life of a cultivation judge
Tired of those cultivators who think it is righteous to eliminate a sect or clan root and stem all in the name of revenge and avoiding future troubles, fights over treasures that end up destroying cities with no consequence whatsoever to the culprit, these psychos whose aim for the peak always involves a trail of carnage and bloodshed in its wake for some reason. Then look no further than the daily life of a cultivation judge. Yang Qing, is a young genius cultivator from a low-tier family whose only safe choice to get resources and hopefully lead an easy life led him to the courts of the Cultivation Order Society. Author’s disclaimer: Hey there this is my first novel so any criticism will be well taken though beware I’m a million-year-old monster who has cultivated the way of the sword to the peak. The daily life of a cultivation judge will be true to its name so it will be heavily on the slice of life lane with a bit of action here and there.Meaning we will see the life of Yang Qing when he clocks in and out. Hopefully, it will be one of those novels you read if you need to relax or are in a slacker mood like one of those otakus who listen to the noises of cicadas in the summer famously used in most animes. And it is in the slacker spirit that chapter release will be on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. Sank yuuu Cover art by Conny Schneider on Unsplash
