Chapter Six: That's What He Said
"Strip princess." Reed smirks.
"Uh, no."
He throws a pair of jeans at me and the gray tee shirt he wore the other day. I eye them carefully.
"Put these on .”
“No.” Casually, I push them off my stomach. Now too get a little more sleep.
“It’s part of being less of a dork!” Reed grumbles, hitting me with the heavy down pillow. I groan on impact.
“I hate you so much, so, so much.” I roll onto my back, pulling the pillow over my head. All I want is a little more sleep! Why can’t Reed be a normal teenager and sleep in late? Isn’t sleeping what summer is for?
Sadly Reed doesn’t give up. He sits on my back and starts bouncing on me. This causes the bed to make an awful squeaking noise. With the loud noise and the bouncing I know I’ll never get any sleep, but I’d rather lay here rather than giving him the satisfaction of winning. I guess Reed notices because he amps it up a bit.
“Ah Caleb! God dammit!” He moans, “you’re so tight!”
My eyes snap open.
“Fuck! I’m gonna cu-“
“I’ll get up!” I cut in. Reed gets off my back and I sit up. “Was that really necessary?” I glare at him. It’s too early in the morning for this crap.
“Got you “up”, didn’t it?” He smirks.
I roll my eyes and stand. You win this time Reed but it’ll be the only time. “I’m going to the bathroom.” I push past him out of the room.
What if my parents hear that? Their room is right next door, and dad doesn’t work on Thursday so he likes to sleep in. If they did hear I’m going to kill him- I’m going to get Josie to kill him.

Man when was the last time I saw Josie and Ethan? A week? Reed’s been here a whole week! It feels like month! Not a week! I need to catch up with my friends.
“Caleb!”
“Yes m-mom?” I stutter. Please don’t let her say anything about what just happened! I turn around to face her.
She grins. “Your new glasses are on the kitchen table.”
Well there’s one good thing about today. I’ll no longer look like some... dork... some really dorky dork.
Yeah!
Psh.
“Thanks mom!” I smile back.
After I finish my business in the bathroom and get my new glasses, I return to my room. Reed is patiently waiting for me on his mattress. I’m starting to get the feeling he’s like a puppy. Weird, I know. But I mean the guy is all up on me one second and the next he’s being sweet! He’s bad but cut-
Whoa there Caleb. You weren’t just going to say cute were you?
Reed is not cute! Guys aren’t cute!
I’m just tired! That’s it. Reed is making me think weird things because he’s not letting me get enough sleep! Stupid Reed.
“What are we doing today princess?”
“Will you stop calling me that?”
“No, now what are we doing?”
I roll my eyes (a new habit of mine) and sigh. “I want to hang out with my friend-“
“You have a friend?!” Reed’s gray eyes are wide and full of amazement.
“-s,” I snap, resisting the urge to punch him.
He chuckles and springs to his feet. “Have any hot girl friends?”
I crinkle my nose. “I don’t look at Josie like that.”
“So she’s ugly?”
“No!”
Calling that girl ugly will surely lead you to an early death! I’m not ready to die! There’s still some stuff I need to do! Like, uh, stuff. Very important stuff. So important I can’t say!

Mmh.
“Is your other friend hot?” He smiles charmingly.
I make a face of complete disgust. “Ethan isn’t hot! Not at all.” I’m sorry Ethan.
“Alright, I’ll stick with you then.”
I raise a brow. “Stick with me?” What the heck does he mean by that?
“Exactly what you think it means." He winks.
"Okay?" Well I'm really confused now.
Thanks Reed.
"I don't like you." Are the first words out of Josie's mouth when she sees Reed.
Instead of being confused he just smiles. "Caleb! You said she was ugly! You're such a liar!"
My jaw drops. Oh he did not just say that! "Did not!" I pout. "Josie you know I didn't!"
She nods at me and glares at Reed. "Caleb isn't stupid enough to call me ugly."
Reed doesn't even flinch at her evil tone. He stands there with a goofy grin.
"I didn't know you had a death wish," I mumble under my breath to him
He chuckles.
"Listen," Josie hisses, "if you keep the shit up I will personally hurt you."
"Don't worry sweetheart, I'll be a perfect gentleman."
Ha, I'll believe that when I see it!
Josie continues glaring at him. They're never going to get along.
Never ever.
"Well, uh, how about we go get some, uh, ice cream?" I try changing the topic to brighten the mood.
"Ice cream would be lovely right now princess." Reed reaches down to hold my hand but I swat it away. Luckily Josie is too busy staring at her high-tops to notice.
I lead the other two down the block to the small ice cream place. Not many people go there nowadays. the frozen yogurt shop across the street pretty much stole all their customers. Not me though! Frozen yogurt might be better for you but I prefer the real stuff.
Plus yogurt is so overrated.
"This place," Reed looks over it wearily, "it's uh."
One fault about living in the city is that you don't get nice little family owned places. Instead you get big chains that are over expensive.
"This is my favorite place to go." I smile when the bell rings as I open the door. It's not a stupid electric one, it's an actual bell.
"Well if you like it here, I guess I will too."
We all three order, Reed gets the same thing as I do, cookie dough. Josie gets plain chocolate. That's all she ever gets.
"This stuff tastes like beautiful."
I snicker at how stupid made himself sound. Josie already thinks he's an idiot, now I can't even imagine what she thinks.
"The hell does that mean?" She snaps.
Here we go…
Reed chuckles and pats her on the back, “You're cute sweetheart.” This earns him a hard shove off the sidewalk and onto the street. A passing by car honks at Reed as he struggles to get out of the way.
"You don't just push someone into traffic!" He moves to the other side of me, getting away from Josie.
I warned him! He didn’t listen!
"Oops."
"I could have died!" He pouts.
"So?”
