《Foster Brothers | COMPLETED》Ch. 15 - Thanksgiving Part 1

It's a couple days later, and today is Thanksgiving. I was sitting at my desk, reading a book when Bella's words flashed in my head.
~Flashback~
"Are you going to tell Ross and Lisa that your father is in jail for murder?"
"How did you find out?" I asked her.
"I have connections. I connected them when you were acting strange earlier."
"Why were you snooping in my business? That's none of your business," I asked her.
"I thought that you were a con artist. Okay," she admitted, sighing.
"What?" I asked her.
"You were acting strange, but I found out that you weren't. I was making sure you weren't going to hurt my family," she said.
"Is that what you think all foster kids are? Con artists? Why would I do that to them? They care about me, and I would not do anything to mess that up," I told her, truthfully.
"I-..."
"Don't apologize. Just stay away from me, and please do not tell them about my father. That is my secret to tell, not yours," I told her, sternly, before walking back into the house.
~End of Flashback~
I closed my book, and I took a deep breath. I picked up my phone, and I dialed Brent's number.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
He didn't pick up. I put my phone down on my desk, sighing.
"Where are the yams?!" Lisa yelled, making me go downstairs.
Lisa and Ross were preparing Thanksgiving, and the boys were helping look for the yams.
"They're in a huge can. How could we possibly lose it?" Michael said, looking in the cabinets.
"Is this it?" I asked, uncovering a huge can. It was under a kitchen towel.
"Yes! Thank you, Campbell!" Lisa thanked me, taking the yams off the counter.
"What's going on?" Bella's voice asked behind me.
I turned around to see her, and she had a huge smile on her face. She didnt even spare me a glance, but, instead was looking at the boys.
"I thought we lost the yams, but Campbell found them," Lisa said with a proud smile.
"That's great," she said, but I saw her smile falter.
"Campbell, sweetie, can you go get dressed? We have guests coming over," Lisa asked me, and I nodded.
"Who's coming over?" Nick asked, cutting some potatoes.
"Well, I invited the Masons and the Smiths over to have dinner tonight," She said, making Elliot spit out his water.
"What?" He asked, drying his mouth with a towel.
"I thought it would be fine. We haven't seen their parents in a while," she replied.
"Okay. I'll be upstairs," Elliot said before walking upstairs.
"I gotta go to the restroom," Michael said, getting up from the chair.
"What's up with Elliot?" Ross asked, coming from outiside.
"Anna and Elliot had a fight a couple of days of ago. They haven't really talked to each other," Gavin said tob his parents.

"I didn't know-.."
"It's okay, Mom. Maybe this will make them talk," Gaberial told his mother, making her smile.
"Cough. Cough. Mommy's boy," Nick mumbled knew his breath but everybody heard him.
"Hahaha, very funny. Run," Gaberial told his older brother.
They took off running outside. We all laughed, and I went upstairs to get changed.
When I open my door, I saw Michael in my room with a hesitant smile on his face. I smiled back, but something felt off.
"Whatcha doing in here?" I asked him, pushing my hair out of my face.
"I....was looking for.....you," he said, making me suspicious.
"But I was downstairs with everybody else."
"We're you? Short term memory loss, I guess. I'll just leave now. Bye," he said, walking past me.
"Hold it mister," I said, grabbing his shirt, pulling him back.
"Yes?" He asked me.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked him, letting go of his shirt.
"Yep. Nothing wrong here," he said with an awakard laugh.
"Okay, but if you need anything, let me know," I told him, and he nodded.
"You know it."
He walked out of the door, and I shut the door behind him. He was acting really strange.
Boys.
I walked into my closet, and I picked out an outfit for today; a pair of jeans with a hole on the knee, a white shirt that was knotted at the bottom, and a cardigan.
I brushed my hair, and I put a pair of beige ankle boots. Then I sprayed some perfume on my clothes, and I checked my phone.
Be there soon. -Brent
I smiled to myself. To kill time, I grabbed the current book I have been reading, and I continued to read it.
"Knock, knock," Ross said, knocking on my door.
I put my book down, and I said,"Hi, come in."
He walked into my room, and he stood there, quiet. I frowned. This wasn't like Ross. He usually would have a smile on his face, and start the conversation.
"Is something wrong?" I asked him.
"No," he said quickly and I narrowed my eyes. "Yes. Actually, I need to talk to you."
"Okay..." I drawled, sorta confused.
"Did Bella do something? I mean, did she do anything that offended you? My sister can get carried away some times, and I saw how-.." he finally said all at one.
"No, everything is fine," I lied. I don't want to cause trouble between Ross and his sister.
"You sure?" He asked again.
I nodded,"Yeah. She's super nice."
"Okay. That's great," he said, rubbing his hands together. "I'm going to go now. I have finish the turkey."
"I'll be down in a few minutes," I told him before he left my room.
My phone rang, and I answered it, not looking at the screen.

"Hello?" I asked, looking out my window.
"Hey, Campbell. I need to ask you a favor," Anna said through the phone.
"Sure. Anything," I replied.
"Can you please stay by me all day? I don't want to talk to Elliot today," she asked.
"I'll do it, but, Anna, you two need to talk. He has been moping around here like somebody stole his favorite toy," I told her.
"I will, but just not today."
"I'll see you when you get here, I guess" I said, nibbling on my nails.
"Yes, bye," Anna said, hanging up the phone.
So, I'm meeting Brent's parents today and I have to stick by Anna all afternoon to make sure Eillot doesn't talk to her. This should go great.
Note the sarcasm.

Two hours later, a knock on the door brought everybody to the living room.
Lisa and Ross went to go greet our guest, while we sit in the living room.
"It's so great to see y'all, again. Thank you for joining us," Lisa said, walking into the living room.
Anna followed behind her with her parents behind her. Anna is an exact replicant of her mother. Both have hazel eyes and both have red hair. Her father, on the other hand, has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.
Anna smiled, but it faltered when she was Elliot, sitting next to the twins. He was looking at her, and I could tell he wanted to get up and talk to her.
"Bella? You're back," Anna's mother said with a smile.
Does everybody in the world love her?
"Caroline, it's nice to see you, again," Bella said, giving her a hug.
"Hello, boys. Elliot," she waved for he boys, but her eyes narrowed at Elliot.
I'm pretty sure she knows about their arguement.
"And who are you?" She asked me, looking me up and down.
"Campbell, ma'am," I introduced myself.
"It's nice to meet you, Campbell. I'm James," Anna's father said, shaking my hand.
"Likewise," I said with a smile.
Another knock at the door made Lisa walk to the door with Ross.
"I love what y'all have done with the place, Lisa," a female voice said, amused at the decor.
"Thank you, Martha," Lisa thanked her.
They walked into the living room where everybody was at. A blonde woman walked in after Lisa. She has warm brown eyes that were looking at everything.
Her husband walked in after her, smiling at something Ross said. His dark brown hair was combed, and his blue eyes were looking very familiar.
"Campbell!" Vanessa screamed, running towards me.
I caught her, and she hugged me, tightly. She was wearing a denim dress with a brown leather belt around it. Her hair was brushed, and she looked adorable with her brown boots.
"Hi, Nessa," I said, when she finally let go of me.
"Campbell, I need to tell you a sweret," she whispered in my ear.
"Okay. What is it?" I asked her.
"Not now. Breny is here," she whispered back, nodding her head in Brent's direction.
He was dressed in a white button down shirt that was tucked and deniem jeans. His spike hair was combed, but it looked normal. He smiled when he saw me.
"Yo! What's up Elliot? Nick?" A boy older said, walking over to the boys.
He looked a little bit older than Elliot, but Elliot was taller than him. The boy looked like Brent's father with his cropped brown hair and brown eyes.
That must be Brent's brother!
Anna walked over to me and said,"Thank you again for doing this."
"Anna, you're my friend, of course in going to help you. You would do the same for me," I said, looking over at her.
She was wearing a pastel pink sweater that was tucked in her light purple, pink, and blue plaid short skirt. She has on knee length gray boots.
"Who is he?" I asked her, nodding my head towards the brown headed boy.
She rolled her eyes,"That is Xavier, Brent's jerk of a brother."
"It looks like nobody is too fond of him," I told her, looking at the boys.
They were bored and annoyed. I could see why. Xavier was bragging about everything.
"Are you Campbell?" A female voice asked me.
I turned around to see Mrs. Mason. She had a small smile on her face.
"Yes ma'am."
"Brent talks alot about you."
I felt my cheeks warm up. Traitors!
"I'm Martha, by the way," she introduced herself, holding out her hand.
I shook it with a big grin on my face. She didn't act like I thought she would. I thought she would interrogate me until my death.
"Martha!" Anna's mother called, making Martha excuse herself.
"I'm going to go get something to drink, but I'll be right back," I told Anna, walking to the kitchen.
Nobody was in there, and it was really quiet. I opened the fridge, and I got a water bottle out. I took a couple of sips, calling my nerves.
"You look very pretty," Brent said, walking into the kitchen.
"Thank you. You don't look bad yourself," I said, eyeing his outfit.
"Why, thank you."
"Don't flatter yourself, Mason." He walked over next to me.
He took my hand, and butterflies were back in my stomach. Brent kissed my forehead, making me go dizzy.
"Brent James Mason! Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend?!" Martha exclaimed with a big grin.
Oh chicken noodle soup.
