The sound of someone's piercing cries awoke him. The voice of those sobs sounded so, so very familiar and yet he couldn't put his finger on who it was but somehow he had to have known. He fully opened his sapphire eyes to look at the ceiling. It didn't feel right, didn't feel normal or comforting in the slightest. He wasn't in his own apartment, in fact he had no clue where he was currently. He sat up quickly, glancing around the ill-lit room only to see absolutely nothing but furniture standing like tall unknown creatures in the dark. But it wasn't his furniture, it was someone else's. The crying continued to distract him as he pulled himself forcefully off the bed. As he got closer to the hallway, the wretched sounds became louder. And the more he stepped down the hallway towards the light, the more distracting and ear-piercing the cries became. It hurt to listen to and yet he continued on. There was somebody at the end of the hallway, sitting underneath the bright white light with someone else in their lap. Who was it? The person was calling someone's name but it was unintelligible.
Killua circled around the room and stood beneath the light fixture that seemed to be the only thing in the room at all besides the three figures. He averted his gaze down and that's when he saw it. The scene in front of him. It was him, eyes closed and lifeless laying in whose lap? He looked up just a bit, it was his dear best friend. Gon had been the one letting out all those weeping sounds. He was saying something, something that Killua couldn't make out unless he got closer.

"Killua, please wake up! You can't leave! What am I supposed to do?!"
He became a bit puzzled, raising an eyebrow. "Gon, I'm right here." He spoke aloud but Gon didn't seem to hear him. In fact, Gon didn't even notice his presence even though he was right in front of him. It was almost like he was a ghost. He continued to try and talk to the other male, try to get through to him until he was screaming. Both of them were screaming, shouting words that barely made sense. On the verge of tears himself, Killua was. He reached his pale hand out towards the other, blinking his tears away but when he opened his eyes everything had vanished completely. Gon wasn't there anymore, nor was his own body and nor was the light fixture. Nothing, nothing was there.
He gasped for breath, shooting upwards in his bed. He frantically looked around only to see his own furniture, his own bedroom. He relaxed just a bit when he realized he was no longer apart of that dream. It felt like a fever dream, it was uncomfortable to think about. It made him feel a bit sick to his stomach. He wasn't going to die on Gon any time soon was he? No, he couldn't. That was basically impossible. Plus, he was fine with Alluka here and Gon had been staying in the guest bedroom. Especially ever since that whole incident with Illumi at the hospital and such. But it was hard for Killua to trust anyone still, he'd always been afraid of others on the inside. He didn't know who was being controlled and who wasn't. It was difficult to constantly have to deal with every single time he was out in public. But he figured he would be fine, all he had to do was keep Alluka and Gon out of harms way.

Something cold dripped onto his arm which snapped him right out of his thoughts. He pressed his hand up to his cheek. Tears. He'd been crying? Since when? It might've been because of the dream. Or his fear of Alluka or Gon getting hurt. He was thinking too much for his own good. But what if one of them had gotten hurt while he was asleep?
Killua quickly got out of bed, tossing the blankets and such aside in a fast motion before stepping down the hallway towards Alluka's room. He peeked inside and saw his sister soundly sleeping, untouched. She was holding onto a few stuffed animals Killua and Gon had won her at the county fair a year or so ago. Those couple days were some of the most fun days the silver-haired male had ever had before. Nothing went wrong for those few days, he wasn't even bothered by family which was quite surprising.
Kil smiled softly at the sight of his sister being a-okay, cerulean eyes crinkling just a bit at the edges. He stepped back and silently shut her door behind him, letting out a quick and relieved sigh. Proceeding to step down the hallway without sound he peeked into the kitchen to check the time. The sun was just about rising and it was nearing seven AM. He knew Gon was an early riser but he definitely wasn't awake yet. Maybe.
The light-haired male stepped towards the guest room and slightly opened the door, poking his head inside to see if Gon was asleep. But automatically panic ran down his spine and wracked his bones. It made the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. Where was Gon? He wasn't there. He wasn't sleeping in the bed but all his things were still there. Killua stepped inside the room, turning his gaze every which way in search of his beloved friend but the green one was no where to be found. Where had he run off to? Or had he been taken? The possibilities were so infinite it gave the panicked one a splitting headache.
This couldn't be happening, there was no way. Maybe he was still dreaming and this was still part of his nightmare. It had to be. He pinched himself but felt nothing, he dug his nails into his skin but not a single thing happened. This was reality and the person he cared for most had vanished and he had no idea where that person was. He didn't know what to do. Gon could be anywhere and all he was doing was panicking in the middle of the guest room. He knew better than to wake up Alluka so he stepped out into the living room, holding his phone tightly in his hand. He attempted to call Gon but there wasn't a single answer which made the situation a whole lot worse. He thought he was going to be sick.
"What do I do? Where are you, Gon?"

The BLOODLANDS
The story follows a young lord in which a middle-aged man reincarnated into the body and gets a second chance at using the knowledge he learns from reading in his past life. No longer bound to the world of his library and university but in a world in which if he failed not only his death but the death of others are in his hands. This concept of the book came about from having two mild heart attacks and the regrets of not being more active in my younger life. Note: The cover of the book is from a painting of Richard the Lionheart at the Battle of Arsuf (1191) during the Third Crusade where he defeated Saladin. Painting by Gustave Doré (19th century).

This legend can only tell you of the fight, who won or lost if for you to decide.
