Lacey felt like she was going to have a panic attack waiting for Morgan to get there. She couldn't believe she had actually called him. She was rethinking her decision but it was too late now. Morgan had immediately said yes before she could even finish her sentence and was on his way to her apartment.
The doorbell rang, causing her stomach to drop. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to walk to the door and open it.
"Hey Lacey"
"Hey Morgan. Um, you can come in" she said awkwardly, stepping aside to let him in.
"I like your place"
"Thanks, its not much, but it will do for now"
"Missin' the country?"
"Yea. I kinda hate it downtown" she said with a small laugh, making her way to the couch and sitting down. Morgan did the same, sitting on the opposite side.
" I hated living here when I first moved here. I had an apartment bout like this one" he said glancing around "Maybe a bit smaller, I've got a farm on the outskirts of town now"
"Oh wow, that's cool. I know you always wanted your own farm"
"Yea, I was so happy when I bought it" he said smiling " I was uh- I was gonna call you and tell you about it" He swallowed " then I remembered I couldn't" his said, his face falling . "There were a lotta times like that, when I was excited about things or needed someone to talk to, I missed having you for that. You were always a good person to go to with my problems"
"Yea, I missed talking to you too. Well I never let myself admit that, but I did" Lacey said in a sincere tone, while meeting Morgan's eyes.
Morgan's phone rang, but he quickly looked at it and turned it off.

"Well, we can talk now"
"Yea, yea we can. Don't get me wrong i'm still pissed Morg, but I just wanna let you know that i'm proud of ya. You've come a long way"
"Thanks Lace, I really appreciate that. But you know I wouldn't be anywhere without you, and I really believe that. I mean you were the one that encouraged me to start writing'. And you basically wrote halfa The Way I Talk. You sure you won't let me give ya somethin' for that?"
"No, I don't want anything"
"Come on now just a li-"
"Morgan. No."
He have an exasperated sigh, saying " I don't understand that, but whatever."
"Well, you don't gotta understand it"
"Yea, I guess so. Well, tell me how ya been Lace"
"Pretty good. Pretty great actually " her face lit up " I can't believe I'm actually here. I mean I never thought I would do anything in the music business. I didn't even want to send in my material, but Addie basically forced me to" she said laughing " and now I'm working on these songs with all the amazing artists and even Mr.Wiseman said he liked my songs, which I don't even know how he got them. I also have been getting closer to Lainey and Harper. I'm just really happy. "
She looked to see Morgan with the biggest smile on his face.
"Im glad your happy Lace, you deserve it"
"Thank you" she said, her face getting slightly flushed.
Morgan's phone rang again and this time he answered, getting up and taking a few steps away, saying "sorry I've got to take this" not looking very happy.
"I told you I had to work"
"No, I don't know when i'm going to get home" he said shortly

"I know I've been working a lot lately, but I've got to. Do you just want me to stop"
"I don't have time for this, I'll talk to you later. Bye."
He hung up the phone, looking very irritated.
"sorry bout' that"
He walked back over to the couch and sat back down.
"Was that Olivia?"
"Um, yea"
"She thinks you're at work?"
"Yea" he said looking uncomfortable "she wasn't very happy after that night at the palm. She thinks there is something going on between us, so she probably wouldn't be too happy to know I was here right now"
"Oh, ok. Too be fair you were a complete asshole that night"
He chuckled saying "Yea, maybe I was. But, hey had to get a feel on your new boyfriend"
"Well you sure made an impression. I'm not sure he knew what to think" she said laughing.
"I like to scare your boyfriends just a bit" he said with a hinting tone.
"Oh yea. You sure do that all right. I have never in my entire life been more embarrassed than when you yelled at Warren on the lookout that night"
"That was some funny shit. He looked like he was about to shit his pants"
"It was not funny!" She said hitting his arm. "It was embarrassing "
The pair laughed and reminisced for hours, not realizing how late it had become.
Lacey yawned, causing Morgan to look down at his phone, realizing how late it was.
"Well, I better get goin'. I had a lot of fun Lace. I missed this" he said smiling. "and thank you, for talking' to me again"
Lacey smiled back. "Your welcome. I had a lot of fun too. We definitely need to do this more often"
"Yes, for sure"
They both stood up and gave each other a hug. Morgan wrapped his arms around Lacey's waist, while hers found their way to his neck. That familiar smell of Morgan's cologne hit Lacey's nose. So many memories began flooding through her head, with that smell and the feeling of Morgan's arms around her. They stayed like that longer than necessary, both so glad to have each other back in their lives. They let go and said their good byes. Lacey walked Morgan to the door, shutting it and leaned against it with a wide smile across her face.
