《How I Got To You | Morgan Wallen》F I V E

2 hours later and we finally were outside the venue. "Bailey are you sure we don't have time to go to the hotel first?!" she wined
"Kayla it's literally 6:30, the concert starts at 7. We are late as it is" I half snapped back, but what could I say I just drove 5 hours. "damn sorry, you're cranky. Be happy. Morgie is only feet away" she smirked at me before grabbing her phone from the cup holder and getting out of the car.
We shuffled through all the people and finally made our way closer and closer to the front. The pre concert music was blaring through the speakers as everyone around us softly sang along saving their voices for the real show. Before I knew it my phone was vibrating repeatedly in my back pocket. "kayla! Morgan is fucking calling me. Like out of all the days he wants a preshow goodluck, it's today!" I was starting to panic and I knew she could tell
"Just send him to voicemail and say you'll have to call him after the concert you are at work or something!" she rushed "He thinks we are at your grandmas!" my phone rang for what felt like forever but finally the vibrating stopped and the notification read 'missed call Morgie'. I can't believe Im in a room full of people who would die to talk to him on the phone and I just ignored his phone call. "Bailey look! Luke is side stage" she practically screamed in my ear
"It's 5 minutes till show time and Im pretty sure Morgan hates me now" I laughed shaking my head "he won't for much longer babe!" kayla always found the good in everything and I didn't blame her, she was probably right, they would come on stage and eventually see us, or not and we would call after the show and fill them in on our whereabouts.
I haven't seen any of Morgan's performances since we met, but somehow the whole situation felt different. I was overthinking everything and when he was up there playing, Im sure his mind wouldn't be on me. I mean sure we talked, but nothing like Luke and Kayla. There might be wedding bells for them one day but for Morgan and I, there was just too much at stake a whole career to be exact.
Those 5 minutes passed before I could even process them and just like the concert had started that night in Maryland the beginning notes of Up Down started and Morgan bounced out onto the stage. " how the hell do we keep pulling this random shit off?" I looked Kayla half dazed at the fact we just drove 5 hours without them finding out and now we are feet from them watching a replay of the same concert we witnessed a week ago. "I have no clue! But this shit will never get old" she screamed back before singing along with the random girl on her right.

As he started to sing the first lines of Chasin' you he did a double take as he scanned the crowd, that's it we were busted. "Kayla! Im pretty sure Morgan just saw me"
"Shit! Well shows over I guess" she laughed and continued on like she didn't have a care in the world.
As the final notes rang loudly through the speakers Morgan's glance was now stuck on me, but I couldn't quite tell if he was mad, happy, or just plain confused. "Luke would you look at who showed up" he smirked nodding his head our way while looking over to Luke. I can not believe he is going to do this right now! In the middle of the concert? "Bailey were fucked. All these girls are gonna catch on and we are gonna die. I don't want to die in North Carolina at a damn concert! I have so much life let to live" she wined with a hint of sarcasm
"Wow Morg, who do we have here? Would that be those girls from the Maryland concert last week?" he smirked right at Kayla. This was not going to be good. "Why yes Luke I believe it is, Bailey and Kayla was it?" He grinned right at me. Shit everyone was looking now and the girl to my left must've looked me up and down at least 3 times. I HATE being the center of attention, and since when were they so proper!? "Kayla let's go! We can meet up with them after or something, this is weird" as much as I wanted to stay I couldn't ruin the rest of his concert.
"Look! He's starting the next song it's fine I promise!" she nodded towards Luke as his fingers played the first notes of Whiskey Glasses. And stayed we did.
The rest of the concert went by in a flash but I can honestly say I was glad we stayed. Something about the energy in this small little bar would keep me buzzing for days and I was still so much in shock about the events of the past two weeks. Before I could finish my thought the song was over and so was the concert "Goodnight everybody! We hope to see ya'll tomorrow night too!" and with a smile and a wave he was gone.
The security at the back door was making sure no one left with any open containers and just as we were about to walk out the door we were pulled aside. "Ladies, can you all wait right over here" the large gentleman ushered us over to the bar stools at the now empty bar "I promise it won't be long and you're not in trouble" and with that he walked back over to the back doors and continued his job. Kayla and I glanced at each other before she finally spoke up "What the hell do they think they're doing. This is so awkward." she pulled her phone from her back pocket and began trying to call Luke with no luck.

"This shit is ridiculous. All the fans are gone and we are stuck here looking like a bunch of idiots that don't know when the party is over" I couldn't help but laugh at how bent out of shape she was getting "I think we'll be just fine, but we can at least play it up a little bit. Act mad, annoyed, and want nothing more than to just be home" Before the words even finished coming out of my mouth she was smirking, Kayla always loved messing with people and I knew it would be the perfect way to put her back in a good mood.
It's been 34 minutes exactly since we've been sitting on these bar stools, still no calls or texts or any reason for why we were forced to stay in an empty bar while everyone else was way past gone. "All this and we didn't even get meet and greet Kayla!"
"Oh god I know, these famous singers let everything go to their head" she laughed
"Hey! That's not very nice there miss" Kayla's head shot around faster than I had ever seen her do before only to be met with Morgan and Luke all alone on an empty stage. "I was going to do a little something special for ya but between your shit talking and your friend over there ignoring my calls it seems like maybe we ought to call it a night" the smirk never left Morgan's face as his country accent drew out every word
"now that they're lost for words let's play them a little song shall we" he said more as a statement than a question. 'I think Im past the point of calling you a bad habit' he started. Kayla and I looked at each other shocked, which we seemed to be a lot of these days. "I can't believe they're playing us our own private concert, and this is my favorite song. How the hell did we get here" kayla looked at me agreement before turning around to watch the rest of this situation unfold, as the chorus started Morgan and Luke sang together laughing with each other and even though no words had been spoken between Morgan and I, I suddenly knew there was more to this whole thing than I had originally thought.
Once the song was over Kayla ran onto the stage and jumped on Luke, I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh at her "you never were one to hold back!" I yelled at her up on the stage. "fuck you" she laughed flipping me off before heading back stage to what I'll assume was a 'dressing room'. So with that it was just me and Morgan, "what did you think?" he asked as he began to walk over to the bar stool I still hadn't managed to leave.
"That was really cute of Luke to do that for Kayla" as hard as I tried not to laugh a smile soon appeared on my lips.
"That Luke, such a romantic" Morgan was still stepping closer with every word spoken between us, "you know, I've missed you a little bit" and by the time he finished his sentence we were inches apart.
"Oh, I haven't really thought of you much" I couldn't help but act dumb in any real situation, but he seemed to catch on quickly because before I knew it he leaned down and kissed me. This wasn't anything like last time. This time was so much more real, and though we had this unspoken bond everything seemed to make so much since right now. Before I knew it, it was over and he had stood me up and grabbed me into a long hug "you're such a little shit, driving 5 hours and paying money to see me in concert. You could've called! Sat backstage, anything!"
"if it makes you feel any better it was Kayla's idea!" I chimed in "Oh and wasn't this so much more fun?!"
"seeing you in the crowd about made me forget the words but it was a night I'll always remember, so thank you darlin' " and there it was, 'darlin' a word that about made me drop dead where I stood. This boy was going to kill me, and I had no plans on stopping it anytime soon.
