《Her Given (Editing)》Chapter 9 - Truth or Dare

"I'm gonna kill them!" my voice booms.
I can't believe what Xavier just told me. How could someone harm another as innocent and pure as my babygirl--someone with a soul as sublime as hers? I can feel my wolf, Dusk, start to surface. He's just as angry as I am that someone could hurt his potential mate.
"You will do nothing of the sort--not now, at least. Not until we figure out a plan that involves keeping our angel safe and happy, protected from everyone and everything that tries to harm her. I can't . . . we can't, lose her. Not now. Not ever." Xavier has a strength and determination to his voice that fills me with hope.
"Good, as long as we get to have our revenge soon. Preferably with something that involves rope, a crowbar, and a blow torch. Only the best for my kitten."
The fuck is wrong with this kid?
"And what exactly would you do with the blow torch, Cole?" Xavier asks.
"Don't worry, you'll see when the time comes," is his reply. He's rubbing his hands together like they're as dry as the Mojave Desert and he's applying lotion, with an evil smirk plastered on his face.
"Remind me to never get on your bad side," I say; he's kind of freaking me the fuck out right now.
Out of nowhere, the most delicious smell is wafted into the air. The food's done, I realize. As is this conversation. Thank God. I don't know how much more I could've taken listening to this.
Cole is practically sprinting down the stairs. He's like an animal. Wow, no sense of irony in there at all. I chuckle at the pun. What can I say? I'm a sucker for cheesey puns.
Xavier and I follow him. Though, our enthusiasm level is brought down just a notch--or, like, 10 notches.

Yet, somehow, we all still enter the kitchen at the same time. And we are greeted with the amazing smell of spaghetti and homemade garlic bread.
"That smells amazing, baby." I praise her.
"Thanks," she blushes under my gaze, clearly not used to the praise. I'm definitely going to have to fix that.
"Kitten, if this tastes anywhere near as good as it smells, I'm sure it will be absolutely amazing."
"Princess, thank you so much. Really, you didn't have to do all of this."
"Like I said, I wanted to. Plus, after making all this food, I'm starving. You guys go sit down, and I'll bring you your plates," she orders us--no room for argument.
"Fine, but we're going to clean once we're all done eating. And you won't be able to sway me in this decision; it's final," Xavier orders.
My brothers and I make our way to the dining room to eat. After being sweated, Avelyn brings us our food and sits down with her own plate, as well.
We all simultaneously take a bite, and I'll be damned if this isn't the best fucking thing I've ever tasted. It tastes fucking amazing, and what makes it even better is that our angel made it. I'm pretty sure that she could serve me a pile of cow shit, and it'd still taste great coming from her.
"Kitten, this is amazing! Where did you learn to cook?"
"I taught myself," she admits sheepishly. "I mean, I've always had a lot of free time on my hands, so I've always tried keeping busy by teaching myself new things. Some things just came naturally to me."
After that, we finish eating in comfortable silence. And after our meal, the guys and I clean up the kitchen and wash the dishes. Avelyn would keep trying to help us, but eventually she just gave up, seeing that it was a useless battle. Once we were done cleaning, Cole suggested we play a game. So, that's where we are now: trying to decide what game to play.

"How about Truth or Dare?" he suggests.
"Yes! Let's play that one. I've always wanted to play Truth or Dare!" Avelyn exclaims.
"Wait, are you saying you've never played Truth or Dare?" Xavier questions.
"No," she looks down bashfully. "I've never really had friends to play with before."
"Well, kitten, then we definitely have to play it."
We had to explain to her how to play, and she was so excited and giddy that I couldn't help but bask in her delighted excitement.
We sat down in a circle on the floor of the living room. Well, it was more of a square, considering there are only four of us.
Avelyn was on my left, Cole was in front of me, and Xavier was diagonal from me, to my left.
Let the games begin.
~~~
I'm so ecstatic to play Truth or Dare! I've never played before. Coco starts the game with his gaze directed towards Ash.
"Okay, Ashton, truth or dare?"
"Dare," he answers confidently.
"All right, I dare you to speak in third person for the next three rounds. But instead of saying your name, I want you to refer to yourself as Professor Snuggle Puss."
"Fuck you, Cole," Ash grumbles.
"Hey, man, I don't swing that way," Cole replies, sending a wink my way. I blush at his insinuation.
"Fine, asshat," Ash sighs.
"What was that?" Coco questions, mockery lacing his tone.
Ash sighs once more. "Professor Snuggle Puss says fine." He glares at Cole.
Now it's Ashton's turn to ask. He looks at me and says, "Professor Snuggle Puss wants to know if Avelyn chooses truth or dare."
I giggle and reply, "Truth."
"Professor Snuggle Puss wants to know if Avelyn has ever had a boyfriend."
I blush. "I told you guys; I've never had any friends, and I've definitely never had a boyfriend."
"But how, though? How could someone not realise how amazing you are?" Xavier asks no one in particular.
I merely shrug. I mean, I wouldn't say that I'm amazing, but it definitely doesn't go unnoticed that he thinks so.
Now, it's my turn. And I've kind of been wondering--since they're, you know, werewolves--what their wolves look like. So I decide now is the ample opportunity to find out.
"So, Xavier, truth or dare?"
"Dare," he responds.
"I dare you to . . . shift into your wolf."
