《》More Info Than Y'all Need

I saw this little "writers asks" thingy and decided to make it into a quick chapter just for fun. C'mon, indulge me, willya?
1. What's your favorite character(s) to write for?
Hisoka! But I like the entire adultrio TBH
2. What character(s) do you find the most difficult to write for? Why?
Kurapika, because I find him to be very inflexible (as opposed to characters like Illumi, whom I have written a billion different ways with ease). I never feel as if I've done him justice when I write about him.
3. Do you have a favorite scene you've written from your fics?
Many many! One I go back to all the time, though, is in "The Early Years," when Hisoka finally tells Illumi he is in love with him.
4. Did you have any ideas that didn't make the final cut of [Fanfic Name]?
Mmmnnnnn no, can't say I really am that disciplined. When I have ideas, I'm the type that has to write them out. I'm very self-indulgent that way.
5. Do you listen to music when writing?
Sometimes. You'd think all the time, since I'm naming all my chapters after songs (and I like to put song lyrics preceding my Ao3 fics). However, there are times when I can't concentrate unless the room is silent.
6. If you listen to music when writing, what were you listening to when writing [Fanfic Name]?
Often I'll remember the lyrics to a song and write a short story completely based on them. Since I title stories based on songs/lyrics, it's not too hard to figure out what I was listening to!
Generally though, I write in silence most of the time, then play the song while I'm reading the final draft.
7. What story/headcanons do you feel the proudest of?
THE LOST BROTHER! I love that entire concept, love the plot, love Feitan, love the Zoldycks.
8. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi chaptered stories?
I love both! One-shots are more fun. Multi-chapters are more satisfying.
9. If you had to assign a theme song to [Fanfic Name], which would you assign?
(Shrugging shoulders) I already do this for practically every story.
10. What is the line you're proudest of from [Fanfic Name]?
Hah, I have a lot of lines I'm fond of. Probably anything I've made Hisoka say in any fic I've written. "Let's go and reinvent the wheel, shall we?"

11. How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)
While I love writing angst, I can't stay away from humor, even in microscopic doses. Everything I write is tinged with wryness.
12. Who is your favorite author?
I have many; it's very hard to narrow them down. I actually wrote an Adultrio fic based off of one of my faves, John Steinbeck, which you can find over on Ao3.
13. When did you start writing fanfic?
I'm quite new to it. I started doing it for creative exercise. I am a non-creative writer professionally with a journalism degree...for some time now, I have had the urge to start writing fiction. Diving into my own original characters was intimidating, so I decided to try messing around with established characters in the fanfic world first.
14. How do you feel about your older work?
I cringe at it but always find myself getting sucked in when I re-read it. I guess that's a positive thing, right?!
15. What is the fanfic you've written that you're most proud of?
"The Lost Brother." Which isn't finished yet, btw. Hah.
16. What fanfic tropes do you avoid writing for?
I'm going to get a little NSFW here. I don't like writing about anal sex in graphic detail, mostly because my experience with it (yes, I have actual experience with it) is nothing like the stuff I read here in fanfiction land, and since my experience with it is so drastically different, it makes me feel as if there is something weird about my experience since it does not mirror what 99.9% of other writers write.
Also I hate making characters do it in the bathtub or any other form of water. I actually have a fic over on Ao3 where Illumi gripes about how much bathtub sex sucks. LOL.
I have no problem writing about blowjobs, hahaha.
I also don't like overly tread-upon AUs. When I write an AU I try to make it one that's off the beaten path. For example: "Pledge Pin" is a college AU--yawn, yawn--but I'm doing it from the vantage of a crazy-ass fraternity, which I think is a little less worn out.
17. What fanfic tropes do you gravitate to writing for?
I love completely goopy Female Reader X Character. I like well-established ships.

18. Do you prefer editing as you write, or waiting until it's finished?
I am a professional editor so I do both, almost involuntarily/automatically. I don't have a beta reader and I never will.
19. What words do you think you tend to use the most?
I love adverbs. Bad habit. And I realized in one recent short story, I made Hisoka say "Shit" about 20 times (but I left it, because...he was saying shit for a good reason every time!).
20. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear?
That my work is unusual and different. That it made you laugh!
21. Is there an idea you've always wanted to write, but haven't yet?
Stick with me and find out!
22. Do you enjoy making OCs for your fanfics, or prefer sticking to canon characters?
I am currently working with a whole tribe of OCs, I just haven't unleashed them on the world yet. I like both. Both are fun. OCs way more difficult though. It's like baking a cake from scratch vs. a mix.
23. How much do you stick to canon?
I try to stick to canon, but hey, isn't going OOC part of the fun of fanfic?
24. Do you prefer AUs with the characters, or sticking to the original universe?
AUs are more fun to write, IMO.
25. What scene in [Fanfic Name] took the longest to write? What was difficult about it?
I can't recall a really hairy scene that gave me trouble. I did try to write a short story about Kurapika and it was a bit difficult, but that's mostly because I don't write Kurapika very well and find him intimidating.
26. Are titles for your stories easy to come up with?
Yep! Usually because they are named after song titles or lyrics.
27. What time of day do you prefer to write?
No specific time. Whenever creativity strikes.
28. Is there a part of [Fanfic Name] you're surprised no one has picked up on yet?
I'm damn surprised nobody is asking more questions about ANYTHING in "Pledge Pin," because I am rolling on the floor in tears laughing every time I re-read it, and all of that shit actually happened in real life.
29. What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc)
Writing! Nothing gives me more joy than just sitting down and pounding it out! I don't brainstorm (ideas come to me in huge chunks), I don't outline (I hate that), and while I don't mind editing I would not particularly call that a joyous task.
30. Do you write down all your ideas? What makes you decide to write one versus the other?
Nope! If I get an idea, I write it. The whole thing. When I get pregnant I birth that baby.
31. What was the development process of [Fanfic Name] like?
32. What story do you think showcases your signature style the most?
I don't think I have a signature style. I write a lot of different ways. As said before I try to keep a bit of wryness and humor in there, but I think you could compare two or three of my stories and mistake them for being written by different authors.
33. Have you ever stopped yourself from writing something? Why?
Nope! Silly question!
34. Have you felt emotional while writing a scene before? What scene was it?
Always! I'm telling MYSELF the story as I write it, so I better be feeling SOMETHING!
35. Where's your favorite place to write?
In bed with a laptop.
36. What fanfic of yours has the symbolism you're proudest of?
Hmmm. Kind of a weird question. I am Catholic so whenever I write anything having to do with religion (and I do that, because we all know how I feel about Chrollo), I'm careful to be authentic.
37. Would you ever collaborate with another writer for a story?
No, it wouldn't be fun for me.
38. What story of yours are you surprised that people liked as much as they did?
My ridiculous Boyfriends headcanons. Those are so silly, y'all! I'm glad they make people laugh, though!
39. What area of writing do you feel strongest in?
I'm pretty confident in most areas. All my workouts as a non-creative writer-- having to write about all sorts of crap I'm not interested in and do it well and factually and quickly--has made me feel pretty strong overall in the creative arena.
40. What area of writing do you want to improve in?
Smut...butt sex... LOL
Thanks for reading! xoxo
