Illumi's birthday party turned out to be a blast. Everyone wants to throw another party, but it's nobody else's birthday anytime soon, so someone suggests a costume party.
"But it's not Halloween?!" No problem, who cares?
-Shows up at the party completely covered in a lump of what looks like fuzzy brown carpet
-"Dude," says Killua. "What in the ever-loving sam hill are you supposed to be?"
-You can barely hear Gon's voice under all the fuzzy stuff
-"I tried to make a foxbear costume," he says, grumpily
-Has decided to take up guitar and therefore been going down a YouTube rabbit hole at night watching classic rock music videos
-He comes to the party dressed in shorts, a tie, a cap, and his guitar slung around his shoulder
-Leorio is mystified. "What is this? Why are your pants so short?"
-"AC/DC, bro!" he says proudly
-Has also been on a YouTube kick lately but he's been watching classic cartoons, not music videos
-Wants to dress up like Fred Flintstone
-Realizes with disappointment that his blond hair will totally ruin the whole vibe
-Snaps his fingers. Ah! He can be Barney Rubble instead!
-Comes to the party in full surgical garb
-"This is really half-assed of you," says Killua. "This is literally, like, your job"
-"I didn't have time to buy anything," says Leorio. "Give me a break. You're just lucky I'm here"
-Two strange women show up to the party
-Both of them are pretty hot
-Both of them are dressed like complete sluts in tight dresses and stripper heels
-One of them opens her mouth and says "Hey, boys!" in Hisoka's voice
-"Amazing what Transmuters can do, eh?" Hisoka snickers
-Nobody can tell who is Hisoka and who is the cis woman, all night long

-Of course he doesn't want to dress up
-He--grudgingly and with exaggerated patience--finally agrees to don a pair of red devil horns, but that's all the effort he makes
-As soon as he has a drink he takes the horns off and puts them in the trash can when nobody is looking
-Feels rather competitive about this entire costume thing
-Resolves to find something really good to wear
-He figures out a pirate costume and looks so good he basically out-Johnny-Depps Johnny Depp
-Everyone agrees he wins the contest
-Wait, who even said there was a contest?
-Oh well, there is one now
-Shows up wearing a long black coat, black boots, and a mask with a skull printed on it
-When anyone asks him what he's supposed to be, he replies, "An interrogator"
-"You and Illumi are the ultimate in buzz kills," observes Hisoka
-Finds a '70s disco outfit at a thrift shop that is full-on John Travolta
-He's really pleased with himself
-Forces everyone to listen to the Bee Gees and Abba the entire night
-Gets into a small scuffle with Feitan when Fei informs him he's not really as good of a dancer as he thinks he is

This is a story about a boy who fell in love with a tree… A story about powerful people changing the rulebook to stack the odds and line their pockets… I aim to create a story that will transport us so we get a glimpse of what that boy felt. The first 4 Chapters might be classified as a prologue depending on how you look at it. The boy quickly grows and the story really starts when the System arrives on Earth. I’m trying to achieve a relatively slow power progression and guide what we learn at a pace following the people in the story. There will be fighting but It’s more focused on base building. The MC is not all-powerful and all-knowing but he has some significant advantages. I’m trying to create a universe that makes sense in its own context. Much of what you will find, are my own world views, in a magnified way, as to make it for interesting fiction. The story took a life of its own when I started to write and I’m really happy with it. Not all of the tags I have marked will immediately be applied. There is stuff planned for far in the future such as the Sci-fi tag. There might be some cursing and gore but it is not very often. -------------- English is not my primary language, so I ask everyone to be forgiving. If you see a glaring error I would appreciate a msg but it is not feasible to fix everything. It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.
