《Jotaro Kujo (Part 6) - Remember Us》SP: Tired 2/2

The next time I woke up, Jotaro was still in my arms. I untangled from him and placed a pillow in place of me. I grabbed a rag from the bathroom. I came back to wipe the dried tears off of Jotaro's face.
Thankfully, it didn't wake him up.
I immediately remembered that we haven't eaten anything in a while, and we needed groceries.
I began making calls in the bathroom as to not disturb him from his slumber.
Afterwards, a few members of the SPW arrived. I informed, "Please watch over him, okay?"
They nodded.
I was hoping to get some things he needed and food for us. Before leaving, I went to Jotaro and kneeled down and placed a kiss on his forehead.
Jotaro steered awake. "Hm?" He still had that vulnerable look in his eyes.
"I am going to get us some food, okay?" I pointed at the two SPW members at the table. "They are here if you need anything. Okay?"
He didn't say anything. He looked away.
"I'll be back soon, hun."
"Okay," he said.
"Sorry," I said. "I can't just leave you alone and-."
"I know," he interrupted. "I wouldn't either." He pulled to covers further over himself. "See you later." He closed his eyes.
I gave him one more kiss on the cheek.
And then I left. Not going to lie, I felt bad leaving him, but we needed food and, he needed rest.
When I arrived back to the hotel room, the SPW members were talking amongst themselves at the table. Jotaro was sitting on the couch with a marine book.
The two men came over to me and grabbed the bags as one of them said, "Let us help."
"Thank you."
Jotaro was about to get up from the couch.
"Stay," I commanded.

He stayed sitting in place.
With the bag I had, I went over to him. I took out a weighted blanket.
He looked at me skeptically.
I then took out a box of tea. I informed, "Some nice herbal tea would be perfect for calmness. I also got a journal and a marine book. Some other things as well." I left the stuff to him while I went to make some tea.
I finished helping the SPW members with putting my stuff up. I told them thanks and let them leave. I grabbed a breakfast bar for Jotaro and me.
When I was done, I handed him his tea and bar and plopped down beside him. We were finally alone together.
Jotaro mumbled, "Thank you." He had the weighted blanket over his legs. I wasn't sure if that was helpful, but he seemed at ease. Over the blanket, on his lap, was one of the books I bought. He sipped the tea. He mumbled another thank you.
I kissed him on the temple. "Your welcome. It's no problem at all."
He stayed quiet as he peeked from his book to me. He looked back down. He ate his breakfast bar and sipped his tea. He placed it to the side. He spent that time peeking at me. Not much time went by until he glanced at me again.
I scooted closer to him as I said, "Do you want me closer?"
He nodded.
"Alright," I said quietly. I wrapped an arm around his waist to hold him snuggly against me.
We sat there side by side, without saying another word. The silence was comforting.
Jotaro peeked down at my hand on my lap.
I sighed a knowing sigh. I reached over to place my hand over his. "You okay?"
He took a heavy breath in then out. "I'll be okay." He interlocked his fingers with mine. "Thank you. Um... I still don't feel like living but... I'm comfortable." He leaned against me. "It's something."

I nodded, "That is something. I got you, hun. If there is anything you need, I will get it for you. " I squeezed his hand.
"Thank you," he said. He looked back down at the book.
I asked, "How is the book?"
"It's interesting."
"Want to talk about it?" I wanted to distract him from the whole suicide thing. I hoped that this would work.
"Actually, I can't really focus," he said.
"Oh," I said. "Am I distracting you?"
"No," he said. "I can't really focus. It's not you. It's me." He averted his eyes from me and gulped.
I rubbed the back of his hand with my thumb. "What's going through your mind, hun?"
"Why am I here?" He sighed, "What's the point of me being here? What if every one dies just like everyone else in my life? And Jolyne... she hates me. Either she hates me, or I could get her into danger. There's not much for me to do."
"I see," I nodded. "So much is going on with you, but you bring your own value. You protect many others. No one else can replace you. And your daughter will understand, she's just too young."
He said, "Your word is reliable, so I trust you. But I still have this nagging feeling..."
I nodded to let him know that I was still listening. I was hoping it would encourage him to continue.
He sighed, "Sorry."
"You're fine," I said. "You are allowed to have worries. It's just getting through them that will be the task for us to work on."
He glanced at me with a look I didn't understand. It was like he was vulnerable and a bit hopeful.
"And it's possible," I said. I reached for Jotaro with the hand that was previously over his. I placed my hand on his cheek. "I will make sure of that. I promise."
He nodded, "Okay."
"Okay."
After that, he sat there in silence. He went back to his book, but this time, he bent down to place his cheek on the side of my face. He was comfortable in the silence.
If he was comfortable, so was I.
I turned on the television and put it at the lowest setting.
Jotaro would alternate between the book and the television. He wouldn't let go of my hand.
"Jotaro," I called.
He attention turned to me.
"I love you."
A subtle smile appeared on his face as he said, "I love you too." His lip trembled before breathing: "Thank you."
I swore that I was going to continue to take care of this man until my last breath. "Anything for you, hun."
....
...
....
Now here we were in the present. Those worries were nothing but a distant or a lost memory. He was carefree and in the moment.
For the trauma, he was getting the help he needed.
Jotaro came over to me from the water.
"Got something else to show me?"
"No," he said. He reached his hand out to me. "We should go inside. Feeling dirty."
I said, "Agreed." I reached up and grabbed his hand. "Oh, and we have to go shopping tomorrow to find something to wear for Josuke's wedding."
He said, "Oh, right. I almost forgot." He pulled me up.
We began walking to the house. As we arrived to our room, I asked, "Is there anything you want to do tonight?"
He said, "Yeah. I'll get everything while you shower."
Jotaro and I had own little family routine, and I wouldn't give it away for nothing.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

A Litrpg apocalypse
Join Aya as her world will be changed forever by the advance of a so-called System and where she will need to keep herself and the ones she cares about safe when the world goes to a different kind of hell than it was already heading to! The story will feature a stubborn and sometimes just plain weird female MC and those she cares about. Edit 02-03-22First mini arc is completed, am working on the second part. Note: this is my first time writing a Litrpg and the second time I tried to write a story which contains more than a few pages. So please bear with me and feel free to offer suggestions, positive criticism, and the like in the comments. A note’s note: the Litrpg part will be, especially in the beginning, slow going. While I like to think this story is going to be a Litrpg, it will not focus heavily on the mechanics. And finally, a note-like note of a note: English is not my native language and only me, myself and Word grammar check have looked at the text. If you see a horrible affront to the English language, please let me know. Enjoy!
