《Enda (Boyxboy)》Chapter 44: Only For Love

Daegi lays in my arms, cold and limp. He's just pretending. Playing a joke like he always did. Little jokester. My sweetheart. I hold him tightly to my chest. Before my arms begin to let him go. Tears forming in my eyes. I'm an Orc. Man of Men. I shouldn't cry. It's shameful. Daegi slides down my lap onto the floor. I just look at him. Fighting away tears.
"Daegi, that's enough. It-It's not funny anymore." I shake him by his shoulders, before leaning my head onto his chest knowing that I'll still hear nothing, just like I heard nothing yesterday. "Please, wake up. No more sleeping. No more joking. I need you..."

"Ca---Canton?!" Ujik shouts.
"Yeah, I'm back." I confirm, walking quickly. The Elite Dragonhearts filing in behind Mulnire. Mynx's eyes widen as soldiers glare at the Dragons. He throws his hand out.
"Don't attack. Air clan!!" The soldiers don't hesitate to collect the Dragonhearts. Leading them off.
"Where is everyone? Did everyone make it out-"
"Daegi-Daegi's dead, Canton." Suzuki informs me, saddened with tears threatening to fall. I stare.
"What happened?" I whisper.
"Before we got here...before Lithu used the spell to get out...Daegi got injured. There was a hole the size of a pebble that went straight through front to back. He bled out. Lithu-Lithu's been in hiding since. He thinks it's his fault." Dukem explains, wiping at his eyes.
"Don't tell the slut about Lithu. Look he went and fucked this random guy." Mynx hisses, glaring at me. Mulnire glares back.
"I'm not a random guy. I'm Canton's true love." He shoots back. Mynx scoffs.
"Yeah, you'll be replaced too. But don't take it too harshly okay?"
"That's enough!" I growl, Mynx gets in my face.
"Look at yourself! Look at the seal! Look at your arm! What use are you now!!" Mynx screams in my face. I stomp on the ground lightly, sending him flipping towards the wall. Staring him down.

"I got the Dragonhearts in Verruchi to fight alongside your soldiers! Remember that!" I growl, intensely. Mulnire watches Mynx.
"You're still a slut to me." Mynx spits out, rolling his eye at me.
"I don't care what I am to you!" I hiss, pissed off. "I'm the King of the air clan! I-"
"Do you think I'm fucking stupid? I knew you'd do this fucking crap! That's all everyone cares about is who's the fucking bitch King!!!" Mynx screams, "Take care of that depressed Orc or I will myself!"
"Wh-where's Zi?" I quickly ask, snapping out of it. Glancing towards my guys. Suzuki walking away covering his face. Ujik watching him go, upset.
"He's in his room. He's...got Daegi's body with him in there. I-I haven't seen someone so.."
"It's alright, Dukey. Take me to them." I request. I want to do something the monks taught me.
~~~~~~~~~>,
"Wake up. Wake up. No more sleeping. You need to eat. I have water. Daegi..." Zi's voice pleas as I open the door. Daegi laying on the bed tucked in tightly. Zi looking at me, "Oh, Canton...I had to cover him up. Daegi's too cold. It's not good. So I'm making him feel better. See...see....wake up..."
"I can see that." My heart aches, "I-can I take a look at him for you?"
"Ye-yes." Zi moves aside. Mulnire watches, content. Zi observes.
"Halda hönd mina," I start taking Daegi's hand then letting it go, placing my hand on his cold bare chest, "Halda hjarta mina..." I let it trail off, as a light of ivy spreads from my chest and flows into Daegi's chest. Lighting up the room and us.
A huge blast of light...a huge feeling of death...a huge feeling of weakness....my power has weakened???....eyes closing...forever...no...not forever...but I...need to rest...
"Canton?" A faraway voice asks in the darkness. I mumble. "Canton?"
"Mulnire..." I grumble, tossing onto my side.
"Canton....babe...up..." Mulnire's voice pleas, hands grabbing my shoulders and shaking me gently.
"Canton...why won't he wake up?" I hear Daegi's voice cry out. Getting shaken again. Before letting out a low groan. My heart feels weird. My body feels numb.
"Come on wake up." Mulnire begs, then I feel something warm on my ear, "Don't die when we're so close to winning." He whispers, shakily into my ear. I grimace, mad.
"I won't." I try to say out but it merely comes out as a whisper. Opening my eyes. The room blurred. I blink a few times trying to clear it up. Why won't it clear up? What happened?
"Canton! I'm so happy!" Daegi exclaims, grabbing onto my hand.
"You're alright?" I simply ask.
"Yup!" Daegi nods, furiously, "I think I might have just caught a cold. Zi was telling me how I was cold and sleepy."
"Oh." I muster up. So they didn't tell him. I gaze up at the ceiling. Well I guess it would sound ridiculous to him. Suddenly waking up and them saying you were dead. Stupid. I squint my eyes, "M-My eyes...I can't see very well. My body feels weird."
"Yeah, you look really pale. Like a vampire, really." Daegi responds. I hold up my arm and see that my skin is pitch white. Deathly white.
"Mulnire...the monks..." I trail off in thought. The monk said I would understand my real power. My power would be recovered when Mulnire and I bonded. But....
"Canton...don't do that again." Lithu chirps in. Looking over me.
"My boy, you gave away some of your own life force to bring Daegi back." Ollovis adds. Luckie gazing at me from behind them. Mynx looking distant.
"You...you could have died. You idiot." Mynx grumbles, sounding pained but angry. I smile, weakly.
"It's okay. I'll be okay. We've got the upper hand here. The Dragonhearts, the clans. I think we're ready to fight together. Grellvo will have dragons attacking from above if we need to retreat. I-"
"All the planning is done." Demise cuts me off. Crossing his arms. Oralile staring at me, saddened.
"Give me a day and we'll get it done." I declare. Leaving the guys looking rather bothered.
"But Canton...you're sick." Daegi says, I stare at him. Ushering them away.
"No, I'll be fine. This is what needs to be done. I'm ready are you?" I grumble loud enough for them to hear as they all begin to leave. Mynx leans against the wall gazing down at me.
"I'm ready for anything." Mynx states, grasping onto the doorframe looking down at his feet, "Be well, older brother."
"Of course." I answer as he closes the door. Mulnire sits on the bed behind me. I lay on my side away from him.
"The doctor said that he heard another heartbeat after yours." I turn to look at him. His features still blurred. I flinch as he cups my face. "Are you sure it's safe?"
"A baby?" I whisper, unsure.
"Our baby. I-I don't want you to fight tomorrow. It scares me. I-"
"I know what I need to do." I state, tears brimming my eyes. You may not approve but it's what needs to be done. My lips tremble as I wish to say those words. My power. I know what needs to be done.
I know.......
Remorse
I have killed many people over my long life. Men, women, children. None have escaped the shadows that I control. It was only one tiny mistake that I made that changed my life forever. I underestimated her, and I would pay for my hubris. “For every death you have given, you will feel their pain.” What? “For every person you have killed, you will feel regret.” Wait, wait… “For every murder you have commited, you will know what you have done.” I don’t think this is going to be pretty. The power leaves her voice as she continues in a softer tone. “I will give you back what you have lost, you will feel empathy again.” Her power releases me and I fall to the ground. Diana. That was her name. I will remember it. ******** This story starts out somewhat dark, but it will lighten up after the first chapter. I tend to not enjoy the psychological tag too much since stories with the tag tend to be a little insane for my liking, but I feel that I would be remiss not putting it on this story, since a lot of it is about the psychology of the main character. All the content warnings are checked since I want to leave my options open to me for the future. I hope you enjoy.
