《Wizards x and x Hunters》Part One: Arrival- Departure

Warning: From this point in the story, there will be spoilers from movies and a special HunterxHunter manga edition called "Kurapika's Memories" (Highly recommend it to anybody who hasn't read it yet though!)
Kurapika lay awake in the hotel room he, Gon, Killua, and Leorio were staying in. His body wanted to sleep but his mind simply wasn't allowing him to.
Is it really okay for me to be here, he thought. I feel like I'm wasting time, like there are other things I should be doing.
There were. When he was put into leadership at the Nostrade family, he had taken full advantage of it. The family was body part collectors. They had connections in the underworld and many different clients and co workers. The job itself disgusted Kurapika but it was the only way he would be able to achieve his goal.
The Scarlet Eyes. He was getting closer. He had been able to locate different people who would have it in their possession and he was started to get a clearer idea on where they would be located in the black market. The next step would be to head over to those places and negotiate for the Scarlet Eyes.
Kurapika had agreed to meet up with Gon and the others but as time passed and he got more leads for his clan's eyes... he was starting to wonder whether it was worth his time to meet his friend and take a few weeks out of his work. It was a horrible feeling but there was never any logic when it came to his ambition. It was simply something he HAD to do.
He had missed his early airship flight, planning not to go. In the end, there was only one thing that made Kurapika get on that other airship.

The words of a young boy rang in Kurapika's head.
"Kurapika...the reason we wanted to go into the outside world was because we wanted to have adventures, right? It's because we wanted to enjoy the outside world, right? When you return Kurapika, I'll have just one question. Was it fun? I'll ask that so... you have a journey such that you can answer 'yes' from the bottom of your heart."
Pairo... Kurapika's best friend from the Kurta clan. He was the reason Kurapika left to go see the outside world. He was the person he wanted to become a Hunter with, a person he should have been having all those adventures with. But that never happened.
Looking at Gon and Killua, Kurapika couldn't help but see a little bit of himself and Pairo in them. He saw the journeys they could have gone on and the people they once were and could have become.
But...he thought, just because Pairo isn't here, doesn't mean I can't enjoy this anymore. Pairo would have wanted me to have the adventures for him, and to be happy even without him.
So... someday I will kill the Phantom Troupe, and I will take back all the Scarlet Eyes they stole from us. But... I'm also going to have fun. I will share my journey with friends and maybe someday, at the bottom of my heart, I will be able to say "yes" to Pairo's question.
With that, Kurapika finally closed his tired eyes and fell asleep.
And outside, the full moon turned a light shade of red from the city lights.
Gon had been awake from the crack of dawn and was swinging his legs impatiently on the couch, waiting for everyone else to wake up. He wanted to wake up Killua, but he had been out like a log. Gon decided to let him sleep.

Finally, a tried yawn from the hall alerted Gon that Killua was awake.
Killua was shocked at how early Gon woke up. "Geez, it's just a machine. You don't even know whether it will do anything. It could be broken, for all we know."
Gon hung upside down from the couch. "But, Kurapika said it was like a game system. I was wondering whether... it had anything to do with Greed Island." The Hunter video game he and Killua played had held some clues about Ging, Gon's father, and Gon had learnt a lot about Ging.
His eyes turned determined. "I don't have any proof that the two are related but if there is any chance that this machine will give me a clue to finding Ging, I want to take it."
Killua couldn't help but smile. Gon's determination was one thing he admired abut him. He would stop at nothing to one day see his dad again. Killua didn't know what it was like to have a goal where you would give anything in order to achieve it, but he hoped as he traveled with Gon, he would someday find a goal worth achieving.
Everyone gathered around the strange machine Kurapika unpacked from his suitcase and put on the table.
"Yeah right, a game system." Leorio scoffed. "This thing is literally a box with buttons. There's not even a plug."
The item was a huge rectangular metal box with rows of buttons. The weird thing was that, try as they might, none of the buttons were able to be pressed. They were simply...there.
"Well, you try describing it." Kurapika countered. "It's not like I wanted to take it in the first place."
Killua carefully examined the box and noticed something. "Gon! You might be right. This machine seems to be made out of the same metal of the box Ging gave you."
"Really!?" Gon said excitedly. He felt the metal. "Killua, I think you're right!"
"What are you guys talking about?" Leorio asked.
"When we visited Whale Island before our last visit to Yorknew City, Ging left a box for me to open once I become a Hunter. It's made out of the same metal as this machine. It's not ordinary metal, you need to use Nen on it for something to happen." Gon explained.
"I see." Kurapika said. "So the person who made this machine must have been a Nen user."
Gon nodded. "Let's all use our Ten on this machine and see what happens!"
"Whoa Gon. We have no idea what this thing is. Who knows what will happen if we do that." Leorio said.
"Well, we won't know unless we try. I say we give it a shot." Killua said. Gon was going to try to get them to do it no matter what so might as well speed up the process.
"No objections here." Kurapika said.
"Okay, on the count of three!" Gon said.
"3"
"2"
"1"
"GO!"
All four used Ten on the box. For a few seconds, nothing happened. Suddenly, the machine starting emitting a blue glow.
Before any of them had time to react, the light burst out into the room, blinding everything.
And the world fell away.

Is Lucas Destined to Die in the New World?
Lucas imagined himself doing grander things in life; after all, he put in his own blood, sweat, and tears, and got himself a master's degree in English. Maybe he'd be the next best-selling author, or maybe the most popular late night TV show host. However, life didn't give him anything more than a management position at the local burger joint. Day in and day out, he flipped burgers, swept floors, and made weekly schedules that his employees ignored. All he had known for the past five years of his life was pure misery. Then after one night of drunken revelry, he found himself in an unfamiliar world, but he knew all the gimmicks. He knew these stories had quirks he could manipulate- he could put all his stats into magic and become the best wizard in the world, or he could dump all his stats into strength and become a veritable warrior. But once again, just like Earth, this new world seemed to have different plans for him. Instead, he was given a luck stat of 0 and a skill that forced him into danger where there should have been none. Why is this nerdy, magical paradise trying to kill him? Content warnings are there to give me some creative legroom later. There's not an excess of any gruesome content in the story, and what is there is tastefully sprinkled in. This is a LitRPG. Updates are twice a week on Mon/Fri plus some extras here and there.
