《The Diggory Sister || Draco Malfoy》72 - Labour of Love

Draco's heart was in his mouth as he flew across the room, slipping and sliding over the wet floor, diving down to Aurora's shaking body.
He tried using his hands to stem the flow of blood coming from the gash in her stomach; but it was no use, and the blood was pouring out at an alarming rate.
"My baby," she choked as her hands grappled at his, her eyes wide with fear, "my baby!"
Panic tore in his chest. He whipped his head back up at Potter, who was just standing there wearing a gormless expression on his face.
"DON'T JUST STAND THERE, YOU MORON - GET SOME FUCKING HELP!" He bellowed at him, fury making his vision blur around him.
He snapped his head back down to Aurora who, to his horror, was shaking more violently now; her lips turning blue as her eyes started to roll up inside her head.
"Aurora," he murmured fiercely, clasping her fingers tightly in his, and cradling the back of her head in his hand, "stay with me, Aurora. Stay with me."
There was a loud bang as the door slammed open.
Relief flooded Draco as Snape strode over, and without a word, knelt down beside them and instantly started chanting an incantation as he pointed his wand at Aurora's stomach.
Draco instantly felt her shaking cease; her body going rigid as the wound started knitting together.
"Draco!" She gasped, and he was relieved to feel her hand tighten in his, and see her eyes focus back on him.
But the fear in them was still rife.
"Something's wrong," she trembled, gasping for air. "Draco, something's wrong with the baby."
"It's all right, Aurora," Draco soothed, giving her hand a gentle squeeze, "Snape's here, he's healing the wound."
"No, Draco," she gasped, her head shaking up at him, as her eyes looked imploringly into his, "You don't understand. I can feel there's something- AHHHHH!"
Her entire face screwed up as she howled in what could only be described as agony.
"Aurora!" Draco's heart was hammering fearfully as he held her. He looked up at Snape, who had finally healed the wound, hoping for answers.

"POTTER!" Snape yelled, and Draco noticed Potter hesitantly step back inside the bathroom.
"Y-yes, sir?" He asked timidly.
"Fetch Madam Pomfrey, immediately." Snape barked. "And tell her she'll need to bring her midwifery kit. She's about to deliver a baby."
Draco couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"NO!" Aurora cried, her body writhing in panic, "No! It's too early, it's not read- AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Her body contorted once again as she violently squeezed Draco's hand. Draco felt helpless, desperate to take her pain away.
"I'm afraid this baby is saying otherwise," Snape muttered, rolling up his sleeves.
Aurora started panting and gasping, tears pouring down her face.
"It hurts so much, Draco," she sobbed, "I'm so scared."
"It's going to be okay," he tried desperately to reassure her, holding her tightly and pressing his cheek against her sweaty brow. "I'm here, Aurora, I'm here."
Madam Pomfrey came flying in, tossing her bag to the ground as she positioned herself down by Aurora's legs.
"Now, I'm going to have to examine you, so I'll need your knickers off." She said authoritatively, whipping a pair of latex gloves out of her bag and snapping them on. "So if there's anyone here who you want out, then say now. It's not going to be pretty."
Draco looked down at Aurora who just shook her head.
"I don't care, just save my baby, please," she implored, before burying her face into Draco's chest as she cried through another wave of pain.
He held her tight as she screamed, trying to absorb as much of her pain as he could.
"Uh- I'll think I'll leave," Draco heard Potter simper pathetically in the doorway.
"Don't you dare go far, Potter. I haven't finished with you, yet." Snape snarled, remaining where he was.
"It won't be long," Pomfrey said, her hand up Aurora's skirt. "We need to get her as comfortable as possible. Severus, see if you can do anything about this water, we're all getting wet here."
Snape nodded and immediately set to it, using his wand to firstly fix the cistern.
"What can I do?" Draco asked urgently, desperate to do anything to help Aurora and their child.

"Keep her calm." She said, motioning down at Aurora who was clinging onto him and sobbing into his chest. "Panicking is not going to help her. She needs all her strength and determination to get through this. Now, let's get her as comfortable as we can."
She cried out in pain as they tried to sit her up, the wound inflicted by Potter still alarmingly angry and raw.
Draco positioned himself behind Aurora, allowing her back to lean against his chest, with his legs either side of her and his arms wrapped securely around her.
"I'm here, baby," he murmured, pressing his mouth against her ear, holding her tightly to him as she cried through another contraction. "You can do this. I've got you."
"I love you," she wept weakly, "I love you so much."
"I love you, too," he said fiercely and with complete conviction, "with everything I have."
She screamed again as yet another contraction ripped through her, pressing her face up into his neck as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Pomfrey lifted Aurora's wrist checking her pulse. Draco didn't miss the frown flicker across her face.
"Aurora, you need to start pushing now," Pomfrey ordered, positioning herself in between Aurora's legs again, "we need to get this baby out, fast."
"What's wrong?" He asked fearfully. His heart clenched painfully in his chest - he was utterly terrified.
"Aurora's lost a lot of blood, her pulse is weakening. Soon she won't have the strength to push and that could be deadly for both mother and child." Pomfrey said darkly, as Snape returned, passing her some towels.
"Draco?" Aurora breathed shakily, barely able to lift her head up, "am I going to lose the baby?"
"Never," Draco growled fiercely, holding her tight, "now listen to me, Aurora, you can do this. I know you can. You've got to do it for our baby. And you've got to do it for me. I won't lose you."
She nodded, closing her eyes in exhaustion.
"Okay," Pomfrey barked, looking up Aurora's skirt, "on the count of three, Aurora, I want you to push as hard as you can."
Draco felt her brace herself and he clutched both her hands in his.
"One, two, three - now push!"
Aurora's body went taut as her scream ripped through the room and echoed out into the castle. Her knuckles went white as she clung to Draco's hands for dear life, pushing with everything she had.
Her screaming came to a breathless stop as her body slackened against his.
"I- I... can't do it," She panted heavily, sweat pouring profusely off of her.
"Yes you can!" Draco implored vehemently, stroking her hair as he willed her to go on, "Come on Aurora, you're doing amazing - you're amazing."
He held her and murmured encouraging words as she pushed and screamed again and again, each time Draco could see, with fear in his heart, that she was getting weaker and weaker.
"You're almost there, Aurora," Pomfrey said after what seemed like hours, but couldn't have been much more than ten minutes, "I can see the head."
"Did you hear that?" Draco said, pressing his mouth against her ear, "our baby is nearly here, Aurora. Our baby."
She flopped her head heavily back against his shoulder, panting exhaustedly, unable to respond.
"Come on now, Aurora," Pomfrey demanded brusquely, "you can do this."
Draco felt Aurora's fingers clench once again around his as she threw her head forward, giving a strangled cry as she pushed with all her might.
"The heads out." Pomfrey said, her hands positioned under her skirt, presumably supporting the head. "Come on Aurora, keep going. That's it. Severus, get my scissors out ready would you."
Draco held onto Aurora, murmuring in her ear, telling her over and over how he loved her.
And then, all of a sudden, as Aurora once again flopped back exhaustedly into his chest, a baby's cries filled the room.
Draco looked up and felt his heart burst with such an immense feeling of love.
For there, cradled in Madam Pomfrey's hands, was a baby.
A tiny, wailing, baby girl.
Draco and Aurora's baby.
