《Dark Saviour ✔》Chapter 19: Thunder & Snow

Winter was in full glory here in the countryside of Windsor.
Zero spent a longer time than she would have liked on any vacation. They had arrived a few weeks back and hadn't found the heart to leave yet since everyone was having such a good time. Elijah was doing a lot better and travelling was definitely a good choice for him. He adapted quickly to the new country lifestyle and was eager to see the sights every new day- Tom was more than glad to help out. Wayne was always excited to host a house of guests and he took full responsibility to make sure their stay was comfortable. Not that Zero or Elijah needed much to be content. To them; warm food, a roof over their head and honest company was all that mattered. And right now, they had all that and much more.
However, the world wasn't as pure as it seemed.
Many were still in the darkness hoping for someone to protect them and save them. Zero knew of her mission and she was even more assured when she met her goddess.
Staring down at her hands, Zero saw no scars but she saw the power surging through her veins. Her body had been touched by Maya and even now Zero didn't know to what extent she had been blessed. All she knew was that her blood wasn't red like the rest of civilization. Her blood was blue, as deep as the ocean waves and shined like sapphires too. She didn't know what to think of that when she first saw it, but that was when she realized that her body really had been touched by the divine.
"You'll catch a cold out here," Wayne alleged as he walked out onto the veranda.
Zero hadn't realized that she was sitting in her leather jacket only. Wayne came around and put a blanket on her legs before he took a seat beside her.
"What are you frowning about now?" he asked.
Zero looked over at her friend who was now her father-in-law and it was safe to say he reminded her of that fact at every breathing moment.
"Nothing," she told him half-heartedly. "The boys just look like they're having a lot of fun." She gestured towards Tom and Severin who were showing Elijah how to ride a horse.
"You know since I'm your father-in-law now I don't like being lied to," he remarked.
Zero rolled her eyes. "Of course, how could I forget," she retorted.
"Sir-" a voice interrupted them from behind.
"Bring them here-" Wayne said as he reached around and grabbed two glasses off a tray. "Thank you, Ben." The young boy quickly scurried off from the cold. "Here, warm yourself with this."
Zero grabbed the mug from his hand and caught a soft whiff of the warm chocolate and marshmallows with a hint of peppermint. Her lips curled up unconsciously as she took the first sip of the chocolate delight.
"Are you all warmed up now?" Wayne asked.
"Yes," she mumbled. "Thank you."
"So, for the most important discussion-" Wayne gave her a clever grin- "when will I be seeing grandchildren?"
Zero choked on her drink. "Wh-what?" she coughed out.
Wayne laughed hysterically before passing her his handkerchief. "I want at least five grandchildren," he told her.
"Wayne," she chided.
"I know but I can't help it," he said. "I'm old and don't know when I will die, so I need to push you youngsters to hurry up."

"I can't promise you anything," she burst his bubble for sure with that one.
Wayne glowered and slumped back in his seat. "Severin said the same thing," he grumbled.
"There's a lot more I have to do before I can have kids, Wayne," she said as she remembered Maya's last words to her.
Zero took another sip of her drink as her eyes tracked her mate on the field. He stood tall, dressed in white like the snow and he was smiling with the others. She saw the way his indigo eyes were vibrant with all the white around them, she didn't understand how those eyes could make her heart still stop now, like they had when she first saw him. It wasn't that she never wanted kids, it was that she couldn't. But that wasn't the case anymore.
"If they look like Severin then I think it would be lovely to have kids," Zero revealed. Wayne put his reassuring hand on her knee and she did over his.
"So, what now?" Wayne asked. "Reaper's gone and the world has been peaceful for a while."
Zero's memories flooded her mind as she recalled the drugs Reaper used on her. She needed to annihilate that poison, so no other wolf suffered what she had.
"My new mission is a big one," she told him and he frowned in concern. "But I won't do it alone this time."
He looked at her surprised. "What do you mean?"
Zero recalled Maya's last words to her. "Before I was being reborn, my goddess gave me five names," she revealed to him. "I think it's time for some recruiting."
Wayne looked puzzled. "For what?"
"A team," she said. "My team."
"You're finally getting a pack then," said Wayne.
"No," said Zero as she got to her feet and looked out to the vast fields ahead of her. "A pack is something I have to protect, but a team... my team will help me protect the world."
Zero and Wayne joined the others on the field and that was how they spent the rest of the day. Dinner was served with as much food as they could fit on the massive dining table. Zero had no problem clearing it out and she always had room for dessert too.
The night passed after they watched a few movies and went to bed pretty late. Zero stayed awake beside Severin who was fast asleep after he kept her occupied all night. She didn't bother him and let him sleep some more. She got out of bed and went over to the terrace.
Snow fell leisurely in front of her, the tall pine trees dusted with white looked magical. The snow pulled her into a trance as it delicately laid itself over the rolling fields and hills. No one was awake this early and neither were any birds out to sing. The silence would have been eerie to others, but for a wolf it was enchanting.
Zero pulled on some clothes and grabbed her leather jacket off the couch. She went over to her mate's bedside and smiled down at his peaceful expression. Nothing ever bothered him when he was asleep, it was nice to see. She brushed his golden hair back and bent down laying her lips on his head. She breathed in his warm scent and let herself be lost in that love. She had never felt like this before, but it felt so natural now. She didn't know how long she lived without him and how she survived because now Severin mattered the most to her.

Zero covered him with the duvet before she quietly left the room. Making her way downstairs then out the door, she went to the stables across the field. Her feet crunched with the snow under her boots, but as soon as she made it to the stables, there was no more snow because it had been thoroughly cleaned away.
Zero entered the barn when she saw Sean bustling around the stables alone and in a padded plaid jacket with large boots.
"Good morning, Sean," she surprised him.
"Oh, good morning, Zero," he beamed at her. "Here for a morning ride?"
"You know me so well," she jested.
He laughed sprightly at her. "Thunder's been itching to be set loose too," he told her. "I can saddle him up right away."
"Thanks, Sean," she said.
Sean disappeared behind another door. Zero made her way to Thunder's stable which was one of the largest rooms apart from Snow's stable. She heard the soft sound of his breathing and then his large body revealed behind the covers. He stood at his powerful height looking out the window. His cobalt-black eyes surveyed the large field and he looked hungry to be out there instead of in here in the warm farm.
Before she even found the moment to say a word to him, he sensed her first. Thunder shifted back looking at her with thrill in his gaze. Zero knew with this particular beast to never touch him without permission, he'd only bite whoever dared. Although, she expected that maybe Thunder wouldn't recognize her after being revived; that maybe because her body changed he wouldn't remember her. She merely stayed in her spot with no guard or hostility and let him come to her... which he did. He moved towards her and poked his snout in her direction. Zero extended her hand then and laid it on his face.
"It seems like you haven't forgetting me," she muttered to him. She let her fingers run through his dark mane. "Let's ride together one more time before I leave." Thunder stomped his hooves and she smiled with anticipation.
Sean secured the saddle and let Zero get onto the horse without a stool or ladder; she never needed it. Grabbing a hold of the reins, she felt the raw power of the beast tremble through her own body. His heart raced against her thigh and she felt his deep breathing match hers.
"You're all set," Sean gave the cue just as he pushed open the double doors.
Zero loosened the reins from her firm grip and Thunder took off into the fields without hesitation. He never needed to be told to control his speed, he always ran as free as he desired. And to Zero, she certainly never controlled him when she was on a run with him. Controlling him wasn't her right, she only trusted him to keep her safe and to let her enjoy the fun of being free with him. That's how she felt with Severin...
Letting the cold air flow through her wild hair and numb her skin was all a reminder that she had been reborn and a new life awaited her. Her past, her memories, the darkness around her wasn't painful because she knew the truth of this life. Life was a betrayer who would forsake us one day and death would make sure that we were taken at the end not matter what. However, that didn't mean that she would give up living out of spite. Zero would make sure to live to the fullest and this time accept death with a smile, like she did every battle.
After a few rounds down the track, Thunder slowed down to catch his breath and Zero took a look around them letting the mesmerizing view capture into her memory forever.
A sharp breeze kicked in and Zero wished she should've worn more than her leather jacket. She laid her hands flat on Thunder's neck and his neck heated her up.
"We should head back," she said to him.
The world was still around them. No sound interrupted the snow-covered hills, but why did Zero feel as if eyes were on her? She would not have been concerned if it wasn't for her wolf that had woken up and emerged. Although, her wolf was smitten as soon as she caught that sweet fragrance masking the bitter chill of the winter air.
A smile inched up her lips and she knew that her mate was close by. She looked back and on the top floor balcony was her mate leaning on the rail watching her. Even from the vast distance, she felt his blazing eyes and the deep shade of indigo penetrate through her heart. He was smiling too, that cunning grin of his that tested every beating pulse inside her. How was he this perfect? she wondered as she locked their eyes and it would take all the force in the world to pull them apart. Well, she'd kill whatever the fuck would even attempt to keep her apart from Severin.
Zero lifted her hand and motioned him to come to her. He turned into the room and in matter of minutes was outside the door. She didn't see it coming but Thunder sensed it when they both saw Severin march towards the stables.
"Ready for a race, buddy?" she didn't know why she asked. Thunder was always ready for his next match with his rival, Snow.
Severin mounted Snow and they both emerged from the stables. Thunder's heart hammered against her leg and she felt her own match his too.
It was like Thunder read her mind, when she thought of taking this race off the tracks. Thunder jumped over the fence and bolted down into the wild forest terrain. And he may be a fast monster, but Snow was not easy competition, and with Severin as his rider, they were formidable. Zero knew the moment they caught speed and Severin was hot on their tail.
Zero looked back at Severin and felt her heart bloom with excitement when she saw him coming closer to her. She really had been blessed and her blessing was Severin Salvatore.
We have reached the end of Dark Saviour; the sixth instalment of the Dark Series.
Can you guys believe that we finished yet another book? Like how is this happening!! I'm going crazy over here. 2021 was an insane year for me and for our family on Wattpad and Inkitt. Multiple books have reached over 100,000 reads and we've gotten to 2,100 followers! I am blown away every time I see the success of this series. Nothing makes me happier than to see everyone enjoy my work.
The next craziest thing that happened is that I got a job!! I never thought I would have the guts to do that, but life really knows how to play games with you. I wanted to thank you all for being patient with me because I know my schedule is not perfect to post regularly. But you all are super supportive and positive to me, so thank you!!
I honestly think that we're all a pack and we are growing together. All of your comments and votes mean the world and help me so much. I will continue to write even when I'm 100 years old! And don't worry, every character in the Dark Series will get a mate unless they are a villain- you know I don't do those toxic mates! But our next lucky fellow is River Drakov *a round of applauds* I think it's time he gets a mate and has a happy ending too. Don't you?!
I don't know when I begin posting for his book. A lot still needs to be completed! I have to pick a book cover and then character design and ACTUALLY WRITE THE WHOLE BOOK! I don't know how I'm going to write another book again, but you know I love stressing myself out. But honestly, please be patient with me. I don't want to post something I am not satisfied with. I love River and I want to do that man a good one, plus it's going to be another couple who will make a comeback in this series- *HINT* Ender!! Anyways, not going to spoil anything. But if you figured it out after reading chapter 12 in this book then you know what I am talking about!
Okay, I am done blabbering! I love you all and see you soon!
...will be coming soon to Wattpad and Inkitt.

Terminal
My heart was shattered that day. It was on that day that I realized that life had an end, and that mine was coming. It was on that day that I realized that I was going to die. Leukemia, they told me. It's almost over. I didn't know what to do after that. I thought that maybe it would be best to die right then, get it over with. I thought that I could push myself away from all my friends, all my family, stop them from missing me after I was gone. I thought that I could handle it on my own, that perhaps the world was better off without me. I was wrong. So please help me, I'm dying. Save me, I'm falling. They tell me I won't survive. Please catch me, because if you don't, I'll shatter. I can't grab on anymore, I can't keep fighting. It's going to swallow me up. My name is Alyssa Gray, and by the time you finish reading this, I'll be dead. ________________________________ A few warnings and things to note: -I've put up the tramatising content tag due to a lot of mentions on death, dying, illness, and a mother who tends to be rather cruel. I know that I take a perspective that many will strongly disagree with, and I'm okay with that. Just be warned that this isn't lighthearted stuff. This is real, and death is real, and this part streaches beyond the fiction into reality. -I'm going to say a minor spoiler, but I don't want it to take you unaware because it is something to be aware of. At one point, my MC attempts suicide and fails. It's a very violent scene and I will put up the gore tag after writing this, and it's also just really depressing. If this will be triggering, you need to be aware of this before you read it. -This is a christian book. It may go against some of your beliefs. I hope that you can read and comment anyway even if some of it does not sit well with you. Credits for the cover go to the user 'Media in Sanity'. Your help and assitance has meant so much to me, God bless you in your writing and your endevours. A proud member of WriTE. I've promised to finish this fiction and update it at least once a month. My schedule is very irregular, and I'm working on that, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that this book stays out there. I'm not ending it until it's done.
