The group spent the rest of the night playing games like hide n' seek and pillow fights. None of them have energy left by the time the night ends, but they're all happy, more happier to get Jay to confess he might felt something for the optical doctor's daughter.
They decided to get a break around midnight, getting into pajamas and whatnot. Y/N hadn't changed yet when she saw Sunghoon sitting out on the porch.
When she walked outside, he looked up and smiled from the wooden chair.
"It's so pretty out here at night", she said, leaning on the railing.
"Yeah", Sunghoon's eyes scanned over her face, "It really is", her heart fluttered at the comment.
"Real smooth", she said to him, walking over to the chair and standing before him, "Maybe Jay was right, you're getting soft for me", she teased and ruffled his hair, turning to walk back over the railing.
"Hey", he grabbed her by the belt loop on her jeans and pulled her back towards him unexpectedly, causing her to fall onto his lap while letting out a shockled giggle.
"What do you want?", she asked, reaching up with her right hand and traced along the side of his face.
She was lying across his lap sideways, one of his hands on the bottom of her head and the other gripping her waist gently.
He leaned down and planted a soft kiss on her lips as she sat up a little taller, taking in a sharp breath.
Y/N broke away and made eye contact with Sunghoon, getting lost in his eyes before she was taking him in a hug.
"I wish it would always be like this", his voice was deep as he spoke against her skin.
"Me too", she breathed out, subconsciously bringing him deeper into their embrace.
"I'll make up for it once we get back to the city", he spoke again and a tingly sensation went down her spine.

"You better", she flirted back and he grinned as Y/N returned her lips to his, softly bringing it together with his bottom lip.
She began hearing faint sound of whispers around them and broke apart from him to look in the background. Obviously not hearing them, Sunghoon shot her a confused look.
She quietly got up from his lap and peered around the corner of the cabin with Sunghoon behind, only to find the silhouettes of Heeseung and a curly haired girl talking to each other against the side of the house.
It didn't take long for the first couple to notice their friend had the biggest smile on his face as the girl before him complains about her day.
They shot back around the corner and looked at each other surprised, holding back their chuckles for Heeseung. They went back inside and finally let it out, not quite grasping what they just saw.
"Well then, I'll be mentioning it to him tommorow", Sunghoon said, calming down his laughter.
They went into the girl's room, considering the others were busy with their boyfriends and Jay was clearly already asleep in one of the couches to be away from anybody's public display of affection.
Therefore, Y/N's room was empty for now.
"So we're leaving tommorow", Y/N said, plopping down on the bed.
"Yup", Sunghoon replied, not sounding disappointed in the slightest, "So I take it you had a good time with us?"
"I did", Y/N said sincerely, "But I don't think Minji will let this slide. I have a feeling she'll have me spoke everything that happens here", she added, making him chuckle.
"She's not a boring friend for that", he told her and rubbing on her arm.
"Well according to everyone I am the bad friend, but I don't really care, they don't know me", she said, letting out a laugh.
"I had you pegged as a hidden softy from day one. You might have been Ms. Miserable but you never had me fooled", Sunghoon told her, and Y/N scoffed.

"Trust me, I haven't shown you how bad of a person I can be", she said, sitting upright with a playfully threatening glance.
"Trust me, neither have I", he fired back, and he shot her a casually surprised and enticing grin.
Just as Y/N started feeling the magnetic pull between the two of them, she hears someone at the door. She looked up to see Ming Xiao looking at them with a slightly embarassed smile, Jake right behind her.
Sunghoon kissed Y/N on the cheek and hopped off the bed, strolling towards the door.
"Let's go", he said as he walked by Jake, ruffling his blonde hair.
Jake pushed Sunghoon's hand away and chuckled. He said goodnight to Ming Xiao and followed Sunghoon to their room.
Ming Xiao shut the door and turned to face Y/N, letting out a squeal and running over to her bed before plopping down next to her space.
"The two of you were about to kiss, don't you?", she asked, sitting up and looking up at Y/N with an eager look.
"What about you and Jake?", Y/N chuckled and Ming Xiao smiled.
"He loves hugs more than anything and sometimes I felt not like the first woman in his life. It'll always be his lady Layla", Ming Xiao said lovingly and laid back down.
A few moments passed before Y/N broke the silence, "Sunghoon told me he love me", she told Ming Xiao who shot up and for a second, she thought she fell off the bed.
"What?", she screamed. Y/N laughed and shushed her.
"Sunghoon, he told me he loves me", Y/N shared with a small smile, feeling the ice cream charm around her neck.
"Did you told him you love him back?", Ming Xiao asked, urging the story forward.
"Yes", Y/N said, a strange feeling struck her inside. She felt off all of a sudden.
"Do you?", Ming Xiao repeated, sensing the hesitance in her voice.
"I really do", Y/N replied sincerely.
"Then why does it sound like you don't?", Ming Xiao asked in a more sincere tone.
"Because I don't know..", Y/N shrugged as she remembered what her ex did to her, "I guess I'm just afraid to love someone again..", she stuttered out. She felt weird being vulnerable.
"Why?", Ming Xiao was trying to comfort her, even though she didn't know what was wrong.
"I don't know. It's just like every time I've loved someone, they'll leave, you know? It's almost like I'm cursed or something. Everyone I've loved is gone", Y/N's voice faded into a whisper at the end.
She felt a single tear fell down her cheek. She could tell Ming Xiao didn't quite know what to say. She've never show this side to any girl other than Minji. Or to anyone really, besides Sunghoon, that is.
Ming Xiao reached over and hugged her tight. It was exactly what she needed in that moment. Y/N cried into her hair.
"If it makes you feel any better, from what Jake told me", she leaned away to look in Y/N's eyes, "you've made Sunghoon happier when you came into his life. No matter what your past is, you aren't a curse to him... You're a blessing"
Y/N bit her lip and pulled away quickly from her before this surge of emotion overwhelms her within herself.
Her heart is pounding furiously and her palms is sweating despite of the cold.
Perhaps Sunghoon and her wouldn't last. Perhaps they were not meant to.
But maybe, just maybe, they will.

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
