《Changing The Course of Fate》Chapter 10 - Design

Pier was currently in the training grounds of the Central Mansion once more. He was training with Liza, the instructor assigned by his father.
"Maintain your focus, young master!" she said as sweat dripped down Pier's forehead. He was concentrating so much to produce a new form of wind in his palm. Two weeks had already passed and he became proficient at producing wind orbs and was now trying to manifest a new form at his control in the wind element
'Ugh, why is this so hard?' He thought as his hand shook and sweat continued to form. Pier thought of the time he created the wind orb. He did not think about the form when he was concentrating at that time and so he hypothesized that creating a new form would not also need any visualizations either.
'Fucking...hard, ugh!' he thought before gusts of wind gathered in his palm. When Pier opened his eyes, he was disappointed to see that it was a deformed wind orb in his palm. The transparent orb had multiple cracks and it seems it was about to crumble at any moment.
"This is hard," he uttered as he grabbed his handkerchief and wiped the sweat off his face. He was stuck in a wall producing a new form in his wind element. He thought it would be the same as how he created the wind orbs but it was much harder than he expected.
Despite his constant mumblings and disappointment, Liza thought otherwise.
'It was his first day to train in producing a new form in his element and he already made progress! A prodigy!' She was flabbergasted at how talented Pier was in magic. He was already able to start deforming the wind orb in a single day which would usually take weeks to even form cracks in it.
"Do not worry, young master. It will be hard since you have been training magic for only two weeks at most. It is already a great achievement to start disassembling the wind orb and you might already be able to procure a new form in the next few days!" She complimented the exceeding talent of the young master in front of her. She observed how Pier was breathing heavily and was catching his breath along the process.
Liza heard that talented mages around the continent had a similar experience with the young master in front of her. They can use magic proficiently even at the early stages.
But Pier was sort of different. While these so-called talented mages can properly use two elements and slowly increase their proficiency in using them, Pier was the opposite. He was able to achieve almost maximum proficiency at using only a single element in a short amount of time.
'I guess prodigies differ in the way they handle things.' She was convinced that Pier was indeed a prodigy at using single elemental magic.
'Should I lessen my time practicing my fire elemental magic? I want to learn how to produce a new form in my wind magic for now.' Pier contemplated. With Liza, he was practicing his wind magic and when he was alone, he would practice his fire magic. Two weeks ago, he was able to produce a fire orb but for only a short amount of time.
Right now, Pier was able to produce a fire orb with almost the same proficiency as his wind orb. He was happy that he was now able to cast two elemental orbs but he was also disappointed that his growth was stunted with the other form manifestations.

Eliam was a very competitive person and does not settle himself unless he achieved what he desired and his dilemma with the form creation is making him annoyed.
"Thank you, instructor. I will continue training my wind magic formations," he said before respectfully bowing to his instructor. Pier had learned a lot from Liza, who was a high-ranking mage in the kingdom. Mages ranging from high ranked to the highest rankings are already considered as important weapons in the battle brigades thus his increased respect for the instructor assigned by his father.
"Yes, continue training your magic forms but do not overexert yourself!" She said as she patted Pier's head. Liza could already see the bright future that is ahead of her student. She's guessing that Pier would reach the intermediate level by the end of the month. It would be a phenomenal achievement that can rarely be seen in the continent itself.
After training for almost six hours, Liza had returned and Pier took a rest for the time being. He still had other matters to attend to.
The Royal Banquet is closely approaching and he needs to practice his performance. Not just that, he also needed to meet with Lady Morata to place an order for a new suit. He was thinking of altering the style a little bit and he already had the perfect plan for it.
After resting, Pier started going back into training before attending to his needs for the Royal Banquet
'Liza said that to produce a different form aside from orbs, I should put extreme focus on the form I wanted to produce.' He closed his eyes and focused on the force that was starting to gather in his hand
"By my commandment, heed my call and grant my wish," he lowly muttered. He definitely needs to learn chantless magic because he was cringing so hard with the phrase. He could feel the orb swirling in his palm and starting to shake a little bit
Minutes had passed but the orb was still continuing to shake without signs of deforming.
"This will not work," he groaned and opened his eyes. He observed the wind orb in his hands. The gusts of wind around it were giving him a somewhat refreshing feeling.
"Imagining a new form will not get me anywhere. I want to create a tornado-like form with it but the manifestation of the actual form is hard." He squinted his eyes and sighed again. He stood up and the wind orb disappeared from his hand.
'Wait...'
He immediately sat back on the ground and opened his palm
"By my commandment, heed my call and grant my wishes," he muttered again and a small wind orb formed in his palm. Pier closed his eyes and his consciousness drifted inside his mind.
It was dark, he could not see anything except for a small orb that was in front of him
'Hmm?'
Pier started touching the wind orb that was in his consciousness.
'How about making it smaller?' After the thought of making the wind orb smaller, a sudden pressure began to burden his whole body.
'What... is this?' He thought as the wind orb started reacting in his touch. He imagined the tornado that he wanted to manifest in the orb, but this time it was smaller than what he previously imagined
The orb began cracking. Gusts of wind were starting to encircle the orb faster and in a more organized motion. As the orb cracked, the pieces of the transparent orb floated along with the gusts of wind

Pier continued to solidify his thoughts with the form that he wanted and the orb started cracking more. The pressure that he felt became more intense until he felt like he was being crushed
The transparent orb continued to break down as it got smaller and every time a piece drops, it would float along with the wind that was surrounding the orb
'Ugh!' Pier grunted. He could feel the immense pressure along with the shrinking of the orb.
It was then that the last piece of the transparent orb fell and floated along with the wind
'You ... called?' The weak words that resonated throughout his consciousness made Pier flinch.
"Huh?"
Gasp! The wind orb, no, the orb was no longer existing in his consciousness. It was not a formless force that was bobbing up and down in front of him.
'You ... called?' He heard the weak whisper again but found no one in his consciousness. Pier decided to answer nonetheless
"I did?" He suspected that it was the wind orb based on how breathy the voice was
'You...' The breathy voice asked.
"Yes?" Pier was confused with the things that were going on.
But the breathy voice no longer answered him back. After the voice disappeared, the pressure disappeared as well. The crushing force he felt while inside his consciousness no longer existed and was replaced with a calming breeze from the formless force in his hand.
'Can I change the form now?' Pier opened his eyes and saw that the wind with a spherical shape was no longer there but was now a twisting force
Gasp!
It was a small wind tornado.
--
"Greetings, young master" Lady Morata greeted the young master who was approaching the same place they talked to before when the young master ordered new sets of clothes.
'The young master seems to have changed.' it was her first time seeing the young master with well-trimmed hair and the clothes that she had made for him were truly appropriate.
"Welcome, Lady Morata. Thank you for heeding my request once more." Pier smiled at her as he handed her an envelope containing papers
"May I ask what's inside, young master?" She curiously looked at the pretty thick envelope, to begin with.
"I want to order a suit for the Royal Banquet and the papers inside are the designs I wanted to input in the suit, please take a look at them and identify if my request is possible," Pier said. Lady Morata seemed shocked at what she heard.
"Design?" She was dumbfounded at the statement of the young master.
"Yes, I have created my own design for the suit I wanted." he smiled and his pearly white teeth revealed themselves to the world.
Lady Morata opened the envelope and started reading each and every one of the papers that were inside it. Her eyes started squinting as she finished reading every paper
"What's wrong, Lady Morata? Is my design not possible?" He asked with slight worry in his tone. Pier did not want to look for other dressmakers because that would be too much of a hassle and he's pretty sure they would simply make fun of his suit because... well, he's Pier and a Pier is a symbol of being a loser in the kingdom right now. He also remembered the tragic endings the previous Pier would get whenever he approached such dressmakers.
"N-No, young master. It is possible but how..." She read the papers once more and was astounded at the designs she had read.
"These designs are extremely beautiful, young master!" She gasped and covered her mouth while staring at the design that caught her attention.
"All of these are very beautiful but this one stands out the most!" She said as she showed Pier the paper that contained the design for a specific suit. It was a three-piece suit that was pretty much popular back in Eliam's world.
She was pointing at the last design
"Ah, yes. That's the design that I wanted you to tailor for me, Lady Morata. It was a suit inspired by a book I've read." He smiled while imagining how good it would look on Pier's body.
'Amazing, to come up with his own design after reading a book!' She was baffled at the extremely elegant designs that the young master has presented. When these are released in the tailoring industry this would definitely make a revolution in the current status of dresses and suits!
"Young master, is it okay for you to easily give these designs away? These are extremely good-" She started fretting over the fact that Pier handed her some of the most beautiful suit designs she had ever seen in her career as a tailor and dressmaker but Pier stopped her midway
"It's fine for you to have it, Lady Morata. Please consider those designs as a payment for the partnership we have in this business." He calmly spoke and Lady Morata shivered at the choice of words Pier decided to have
'Partnership...'
"Perhaps, does the young master want me to be..." She trailed off and Pier finished her sentence
"Yes, I want Lady Morata to be my personal tailor and dressmaker," Pier said. In fact, it isn't even worthy to be called a partnership because Lady Morata would have nothing to lose when ignoring Pier's proposal and only benefits would await her.
"Of course, I will also provide proper compensation for the materials and effort exerted into creating the suit." Lady Morata could not believe what she was currently hearing. This is like a god offering her wealth and fame and in exchange, she would be that god's devotee.
Pier did not have a clue about what was going on inside the lady's head and he would surely freak out once he learns that he was being compared to a god right now.
The reason why he's offering a one-sided partnership was that he's starting to act on the plans he had on his mind for quite some time right now.
'Lady Morata would serve as my vessel inside the tailoring and dressmaking industry, this would be the first step in me punishing those who ridiculed Pier back in the past.' Pier's memories were as clear as day. He still remembered how those whom Pier approached made fun of the suits he had ordered and made him look like a clown at the different gatherings Pier appeared with lies and deceptions and the perfect vessel to carry out his plans had been by his side the whole time.
'Lady Morata from House Morata, a noble who truly loved making dresses and tailoring suits, what's better than offering designs that would certainly become a game-changer in this industry and becoming my way for revenge?' He inwardly smirked. Lady Morata looked like she was in a daze as she stared back and forth from the designs to Pier.
"T-Then at least allow me to pay you for these designs, young master!" She exclaimed with utmost joy
'Bingo.' Pier smiled sweetly at her and Lady Morata thought that she was seeing an actual god in front of her
"Ah, the partnership is enough-" he tried refusing but the Lady cut him off
"I insist, young master. These designs would definitely break the current paradigm in the tailoring and dressmaking industry of the kingdom and even if I work my whole life making dresses, I would never be able to pay for these designs!" She told him with a tone of finality
Pier faked a troubled expression and thought about the things he could do with the 'payment' he would receive from the Lady.
"Then how about this..."
