《HER LOVE • davina claire》7 | PERKS OF BEING AN ORIGINAL

We are currently in the basement of our temporary home, the plantation. I am leaning against one of the walls, watching Max - the vampire we didn't kill last night - and Josh -the vampire Nik has under his compulsion - while Bekah and Nik are on the phone, talking about our meeting with Marcel.
"Niklaus, for the love of Mary Magdalene, how long does it take to ask a simple question?" I heard Bekah, with my supernatural hearing, ask Nik in an annoyed tone and I snickered at my twin's equally annoyed expression. Just because I'm watching the young ones, doesn't mean that I don't eavesdrop. It's one of my favorite pass times.
"Hey Bekah!" I yell at her and I hear a 'hello' said back. I grin while looking over at the two scared vampires. Josh looks like he's about to vomit all over the basement.
"Much longer than you'd think, considering the answer was, as expected, 'no'. Marcel's man, Thierry, is suspicious. He thinks you killed ten nightwalkers." Nik tells her.
"Well, that's a lie! I only killed seven and Lex killed one." My blonde sister exclaimed in feigned offense, causing me to chuckle. Yes, dramatics most certainly runs I the Mikaelson bloodline. "Should I make Thierry the eight?" She asked in an after thought.
"Marcel is playing friendly. We can't kill the favorite son, or he'll catch onto us." Nik warns and rejects her question all on the same breath.
"Yeah, and then we may never see Elijah again." I chimed in, smirking as the two vampires looked more uneasy by the second with my gaze trailing over them. Like I'd touch them, I thought with a disgusted scoff.
"So, war it is, then?" She asked my twin.
"Indeed. Do you know what to do with the witch?" Nik says and we exchanged devilish grins, making is look some dangerous than normal.
"I believe I do." I hear her said and there was a tone in her voice that let me know that she was smiling.
"Good. You manage Sophie Deveraux. I'll take care of the next step." Nik says hanging up.
"I can not wait until we get to kill her, she works on my nerves like it's a hobby." I told him, huffing unhappily. Nik just shook his head with a fond smile on his lips. He turns to Josh and annoyance seeps into his expression.
"I ordered you to drain him of blood. What's taking so long?" He asked, cleary irritated with the new turned vampires lack of violence.
"Sorry. I'm not, like, medieval-torture-expert-guy or girl." Josh blurts out anxsiously and amusement fills me.
"And you assume I am?" I ask him, a grin on my lips and my eyebrows raised.

"Sorry, I just assume, cause you know..." He says, trailing off and I nod.
"Yeah, I know." I said. "And you assume correctly, being over a thousand years old, I have an extensive knowledge of torture." I continued, crossing my arms over my chest and his eyes widen in fear. "However, I only use torture when there is no other way. Unlike my twin over here." I assured him and he gapes at Nik and I.
"You're twins?" He asks surprised and I nod in confirmation. Nik sighs and grabs a pitchfork before he impales Max with it, making Josh wince but I'm not even fazed.
"What did he do to you, anyway?" Josh questioned my twin, mortified by his actions.
"It's not about what he did. It's about what he's going to do when we're done here, which is whatever I want him to, just like you." My twin informs the younger vampire. "For example- drive this through his torso." Nik compels him and hands the weapon to him. Josh immediately obeys, though he looks horrified as he does so.
"That is crazy. I didn't want to do it, but I did it anyway." He blurts frantically, his eyes comically wide.
"It's part of being an Original." I say smiling. Thank God no one can compel us.
"It's called mind compulsion. Vampires can compel humans. Originals, like my siblings and I, can also compel vampires, and no one can compel Originals. You following?" Nik asks Josh nods, looking frightened.
"It gets better eventually." I tell him and he nods again.
"Good. That is how a brand-new nightwalker such as yourself is here doing my bidding with no one the wiser." Nik tells him and I see the oppertunity to tease him.
"I know." I tell him raising my hand. He gives me a playful glare and I laugh at him.
"But I never had my guts drained out of me." Josh says confused.
"Yes. That, young Joshua, is because I got to you before you had even a drop of herbal vervain in your system. You see, it prevents compulsion. Marcel has had his whole crew taking it since I returned to town, and that is why our friend here needs to be bled dry of it, so I can compel him to follow my every command. And with my brother currently in captivity awaiting rescue, we can't afford to be gentle about it, can we?" Nik says and takes back the pitchfork and runs it through Max's abdomen before twisting it roughly.
"Oh and about vervain." I started, looking at Josh and he turns to me. "Might not want to try it, burns like a bitch." I explain to him and I heard Nik's phone buzzing.

"Thanks for the tip." He said, appreciatively, nodding his head and I smiled at him while Nik pulls the pitchfork out of Max's abdomen and hands it to the terrified vampire.
"Be quick about it. I have an army to build, and one compelled minion does not an army make." He says and I roll my eyes at him. And people call me impatient, I though to myself.
Nik answers his phone, which has been buzzing incessantly and I listen in.
"Well?" Nik asks to the person on the other end.
"You were right about the traitor. Luckily, she's just a kid and she doesn't know anything about us and what we're up to. Do you want to hear the part that's gonna please you the most?" I heard Rebekah's voice on the other end inform my twin and I grinned. I adverded my gaze from Nik to Josh, who looks constipated.
Rolling my eyes, I push myself of the wall, sped to the duo of youger vampire and took the pitchfork from Josh. I roughly and violently stabbed the vampire in the abdomen, twisting it in his gutsand I heard Joshua gag, making me chuckled in amusement. He's a vampire, and yet he can't handle blood.
"Oh, do tell!" I hear Nik exclaim excitedly. I turned my head in his direction, to see he's smiling.
"She's in love with someone in Marcel's inner circle. Guess who it is?" She says and I gasped as my eyes widened. No way, this is perfect. I bet be it's Thierry. I pulled out the pitchfork and handed it to Joshua, who looks at the tool like it's carrying a deadly disease.
"Right-hand-man type, favors silly caps?" Nik asks, voicing my thoughts.
"Two points for you. Thierry is fraternizing with the enemy." Bekah replies.
"Well, that means he just unwittingly became the key to our entire plan." Nik says matter-of-factly and we smiled at each other.
"I told you you'd be pleased." She says, proud of herself.
"Nice, Bekah." I compliment, impressed with the information she found out.
"Oh, to be young and in love in a city where witches and vampires are at war. How very tragic." He says with a smirk and hangs up on our blonde sister.
"Lex, you come with me. And you, Joshua, you carry one with draining him." Nik says pointing to each of us. I roll my eyes at the command but complied anyway.
"Bye, Josh." I say to the baby vampire and he smiled at me.
We speed up to the house, where Nik told me that Bekah texted him and told him that she was coming and she was bringing Sophie. We are having a drink in the study when Nik asks a very stupid question.
"Tell me, Lex, are you getting soft for young Joshua?" He asks me, a smirk on his facr and I scrunched my face up in disgust.
"Now you know he's not my type." I told him and he lets out a laugh.
"Oh, I know." He said, laughter in his tone and nodding his head. "I still remember how you would punch any guy who would try to kiss you. Even a thousand years ago, when it was forbidden in the eyes of the elders for girls to like girls, you knew who you where and damn it all to hell of someone was going to try and tell you different." He says a look of remembrance on his face and a fond smile on his lips. I nodded with a smile of my own.
"Yeah. How the times have changed." I said, sitting down on the couch and he joins me.
"Yes, it most certainly has." He says and we sit in silence for a couple of minutes before he spoke up again. "Do you think you'll ever fall in love?" His tone was hesitant and I sighed heavily.
For a thousand years I've known who I am and what I want. I like girls and I want girls. Yet, I've never fallen in love. I've never said anything about it but it does bother me? Why have I never developed feelings for a girl? I know for sure I don't feel any attraction to males, my ones night stand have proven that. So, what is wrong with me? And I really heartless, like everyone says? "I don't know." I eventually answered him honestly and another silence fell upon us.
"What about Hayley?" He asks me, breaking the silence after a few minutes.
"No, thanks. Not my type, and she slept with you so I'm positive she doesn't swing that way. Besides, from the way she talks I'd say she's falling in love with Elijah, if not already." I declined with a very detailed description and he nods.
"You're right." He says.
"Aren't I always?" I ask him with a grin and he rolls his eyes.
"Klaus!" I hear Bekah yell before he could retort.
"In the study." He says in a normal voice, knowing she can hear us and a few seconds later, she is standing in front of us with Sophie Deveraux besides her.
The witch's face falls when she sees me and I smirked at her widely. I may like witches, but I love working on their nerves, especially since magic doesn't work on me.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
