《HER LOVE • davina claire》14 | DRINKING IN A BAYOU BAR
Advertisement
Nik, Marcel and I in a bar called Big Auggie's Bayou Bar. The music is horrible but the liqour is good so it's bearable. We are taking our next shot when Nik's phone rings and he excuses himself to take it.
"So-" Marcel starts out and I turn to him. "-how's the love life going?" He ask and I laughed lightly.
"What's that? Can you eat it?" I ask him in mock-cluelessness and this time, he laughs.
"So, no special lady in your life then?" He ask me - already knowing the answer. I've never had a girlfriend in all of a thousand years - one night stands, yes, but no relationships.
"Nope." I say popping the 'p'. "However, there is someone who caught my attention." I tell him with a smile on my face as I think of Davina.
"Really?" He asks in surprise and I nod. "Well she has to be special to have you of all people smiling like an idiot." He says with a grin.
"What do you mean, me of all people?" I ask him, confused.
"Let's face it. You're not exactly a people person. I grew up around you so I would know. You've also never smiled like that. Ever. So whoever she is, don't let go." He says sincerly and I nod.
"Thank you, Marcellus." I say in the same tone. "When did you get so wise?" I ask him with a teasing grin.
"I know right." He says with a chuckle. "And I hope to meet her some day." He adds on and I nod. I'm not exactly sure he would like or aprove of the fact that my interest is peaked by Davina but I could care less.
"You will. I promise." I assure him and he grins widely. Before he could say anything else, Nik sits between us. I wack him upside the head for interupting our conversation and as he turns to me I hear Marcel stiffle a laugh. He glares at me and I hold his glare, not backing down - he doesn't scare me.
"Everything okay?" Marcel asks bring us out of our stare down.
"Oh, just the usual. Temperamental sister." Nik says. "So, where's your informant?" He asks and I narrow my eyes. What is going on?
"Tomas? He's out sniffin' around. Grab a drink, and then we'll chase him down." Marcel says unbothered and I look around the bar, bored with this conversation.
"Well, I suppose it will give us a chance to talk things over, like why you haven't returned Elijah. Maybe your young witch has grown partial to his company? She must get so bored." Nik says and just like that my boredom fades away at the mention of Davina. I keep my face expressionless though. Marcel is many things, stupid isn't one of them.

"You never stop, do you?" Marcel asks exasperated and I snort.
"Never." I confirmed, getting a slight glare from my twin.
"You never answer, do you?" Nik retorts and I snickered to myself.
"Why're you so curious about Davina?" He asks suspisiously and for the first time since I first heard her name, I welcome the fluttering feeling in my stomach. I'd have to ask Beks about it later.
"If I had a 16-year-old all-powerful witch at my beck and call, you would wonder about her, too." Nik says and I call over the bartender.
"Bourbon, please." I ask him politely and he nods, giving me what is supposed to be a charming smile and I snort.
"You're never gonna get her." I hear Marcel say.
"Okay, okay. I'll ask the harmless questions, then. How did you meet her?" Nik asks as the bartender brings my drink.
Marcel laughs and answers as I throw back the whole drink. "That might surprise you. This was eight months ago, before I banned the witches from using magic. Relations between vampires and witches weren't what you'd you call friendly, by any means, but let's just say we were a little less... divided. In fact, some of us were getting along just fine. Me and Sophie knocked around, infact." He says and my drink goes out of my mouth and decorates the bar table just as I was about to swallow it.
"You and Sophie? You hypocrite! You torture those witches, and yet there you were, getting positively Romeo and Juliet with Sophie Deveraux." Nik says incredulously.
"Oh, hey hey hey, it wasn't like that. It was a... mutually satisfying hook-up." He denies quickly.
"Thank god. Although we probably shouldn't tell Bekah. She might just get blinded by her jealousy and kill Sophie." I say with a grin and Marcel shoots me a glare.
"Rebekah being jealous would imply she still feels something for me, which she doesn't." He says and I snort.
"Who are you trying to convince: Me or yourself?" I ask him with raised eyesbrows.
"So, if Sophie didn't turn to you, her secret vampire lover, in her hour of need, what did she do?" Nik asks, deciding to change our current subject back to the original one.
"She did what any good girl do. She went to her priest. The witches were furious with Kieran. Sophie tells me that the witches put a hex on his nephew Sean, made it seem like he was slowly losing his mind in order to distract Kieran while they kept planning for the Harvest." Marcel says and my eyes widen slightly.

"I have done alot of terrible things in my life but even I would never do a thing like that." I commented, disgusted with the witches.
"So, they attacked Kieran's nephew." Nik says angrily. What is his problem?, I thought to myself before shrugging. I'll ask him once Elijah is home.
"Yeah. Kid wasn't the same after that. Ended up going postal, killing all his fellow seminary students. All of them. And then himself." Marcel says and I feel sympathy for the priest.
"I might have read about that. The boy... killed a twin, or he was a twin, or something." Nik says and I narrow my eyes at him, seeing straight through his lie. He is up to something, I just don't know what.
"Ah, no, no, no, they said he had a twin sister." Marcel says knowingly and sips his drink. We drink in silence for a while when Nik's phone rings again. He goes outside again and I roll my eyes.
"I'm following him." I tell Marcel, my curiosity taking over, and he nods. I leave the bar and I see him talking on the phone and I listen in.
"Let me understand this- against all logic, you and Hayley went to the Bayou, where you ran into a man you think may be Marcel's informant, and then you lost him?" He says. Wait, what the fuck?
"Yes, and now that we've established that I am a failure as a sister, and a friend, and an Original, you should probably know he's on his way to Marcel right now to rat me out. Skinny guy in a hurry, looks like he saw a ghost." Bekah snaps and my eyes widen. What the hell did they get themselves into now?
"I'll handle it, but I'll need a distraction." He tells her and I roll my eyes at him.
"I'm on my way." She says and hangs up. By this point I am fuming because he didn't tell me that they were in trouble.
"Tell. Me. Everything." I say through my teeth with my hands on my hips as he turns around. His eyes widen and he nods.

After he told me about how Bekah, Hayley and Sophie decided it was excellent idea to go down to the bayou, where Marcel' informant saw them, we went back in to the bar. After I rolled my eyes and facepalms a few times.
"Your sister again?" Marcel asks as we sit down.
"She craves attention." Nik dismisses him. "So, come along, you were just getting to the juicy bits." He urges him and I tune into their conversation.
"I can't joke around about this. I've done a lot in my day, but I do have a rule about kids. No harming or killing them." Marcel says and I nod. It probably stems from his childhood.
"You're the one who stopped it." Nik says and I smiled proudly towards Marcel.
"Kieran knew every detail from Sophie. After his nephew's massacre in the church, he was so torn up, he left town just before the Harvest. But on his way out, he came to me, and he asked me to stop the Harvest. He knew I didn't want the witches getting any more power. And I do have a rule about people abusing kids, so, I did what he asked. But I was too late." He continues his story.
"I arrived there with my nightwalkers to see every girl, but Davina dead. She was fighting against the man who wanted to sacrifice her. There was something about seeing Davina fight. She didn't just go along to the slaughter, you know?" He says and I nod. I'm glad he stopped it. If he didn't I might have never go to know Davina. I shudderd slightly at the thought because I want to know her.
Nik smiles slightly before he answers. "I do... Marcellus."
"I felt like she and I... we were kindred spirits." He tells us somberly and I just sipped my drink, not knowing what to say.
"You were quite the knight in shining armor. Though Davina must realize you owe her as much as she owes you. You never could have banned the witches from using magic without her." Nik says.
"She's not exactly besties with them. I'm protecting her. A lot of them would like to get their hands on her and kill her to finish the Harvest. If they don't, the other girls stay dead, and they lose their power." He tells us and anger coursed through my body and I barely surpress the growl that itches to escape my throat. They can lose their power for all I care, they're not kiling her. I'll slaughter the lot of them if I have to.
"And if they do, you lose yours." Nik tells him and I roll my eyes.
"And Davina loses her life." This time, I couldn't stop the low growl that escaped my throat - making Nik and Marcel look at me weirdly.
Over. My. Dead. Body.
