Aleksios P.O.V:
Patience has never been one of my families biggest virtues, so going through boxes of documents on the supernatural community for some names was slowly but surely ticking me off. If this wasn't for my family, I would have left a long time ago and when I think about shutting the book and going to a bar for a drink, 'Always and Forever' flashes in my mind and I suck it up and keep going. At least the pain in my chest is gone so I assume that they stopped whatever they where doing to him.
"Marcel, here’s another name from our list: Brynne Deveraux. Says here she drowned herself some twenty years ago. Do you recognize the name?" Elijah asks and I look up from my book and to Marcel.
"Brynne? Yeah, yeah, we used to hang out." He tells us and he smirks and I groan, already knowing his next words. "Knock around a bit." I gagged and went back to my book.
"You can spare me the details, please." Elijah says in his usual stiff manner.
"You do realise that 'Brynne'," I start, looking at Marcel and using air quotations when I said the name. " was actually Celeste." I finish off my sentance and at his disgusted face, I smirk.
"She used to do some spells for me now and then. Girl had power. Cursed a whole pack of werewolves just because they were pissing me off. Speaking of, what do you think Klaus is gonna do when he finds out that you left him to suffer while you saved Hayley and her wolf friends?" He says, effectively changing the subject.
"Let’s avoid discussing matters that are not your concern, shall we, Marcellus?" Elijah suggests and I nod and add on.
"Let's." I say, not comfortable with the current subject.
"Oh, come on, Elijah. I got guys all over this city. You honestly think that I don’t know that the Crescent wolves had a little family reunion out at the plantation last night? Thanks for letting the house burn, by the way. Good riddance! But my question is, what’s Hayley doing with that bunch?" Marcel questions and I sigh.
"Marcel, I’m aware of your history with the city’s wolves, and I assume you understand that if you lay a finger upon Hayley, it will be the last thing you do on this earth." Elijah threatens and I roll my eyes. Like mama-wolf needs protecting. She's got toxic werewolf teeth and she could hold her own against me for a while. I tried to kill her in Mystic Falls when I found out that she was the one who helped Tyler to break his sirebond to my brother but when she fought back, I let her go out of respect. Nik wasn't very happy with me but I just rolled my eyes at him and told him that I love him.
"I see I hit a nerve. And just when we were getting along." Marcel says and that's when I lost it.
"Enough!" I yelled, silencing them both. "Either you shut up or get out." I tell them and I go back to going through the records for the last name.
"We were right!" Elijah exclaims after a brief silence. I shut my book and Marcel and I walk over to my brother. "Every name upon my flesh signifies a witch who died by her own hand. All but one. Clara Summerlin."

"Ring any bells?" Marcel asks and I think back.
"None." Elijah answers.
"Nada." I pipe up.
"Okay, well, if she didn’t off herself, then how did she die?" Marcel asks and I raise my eyebrows at my brother, silently asking the same question.
"Influenza Epidemic of 1919." He answers and suddenly, the names tattooed on Elijah's body vanish and confusion floods through me.
"What in the bloody hell does a flu epidemic has to do with Nik and Bekah's capture?" I question, confusion lacing my every word.
"I suppose we have our answer, though I have no idea what it means." Elijah says and I let out a heavy sigh.
///
We returned to the compound again and I decided to grab a bloodbag before I join them in the study again. In the study, Elijah is staring a a alarmed and worried looking Marcel and my guard goes up.
"Marcel? Do I need to remind you that Niklaus and Rebekah are somewhere suffering horribly? If you know something, talk." Elijah orders him and I listen but I don't say anything yet.
"The Sanitarium. That’s where you’ll find them." He tells us.
"Are you sure? How do you know?" Hayley questions.
"I just know." He says adamantly and I didn't need to hear another word before speeding of to the Sanitarium. Arriving at the hospital, I'm shocked at how it still looks the same. Warn, but the same. My phone buzzes in my pocket but I ignore it. I'm about to go inside when I feel a rush of pain go through me but this time, it's not physical pain, it's emotional. I waist no further time before I speed inside. I listen, praying to hear something.
"Rebekah! Rebekah!" I suddenly hear my twin scream and a joyous smile lights my face.
"NIK!" I roar out as loud as I can, hoping he hears me in his weakend state.
"Lexie?" I hear his disblieving voice ask.
"Nik! It's me! Where are you?" I shout as I speed around, trying to find him.
"Lexie!" I hear my twin's voice behind me and a clinging sound follows and I spin around, and there at the end of the hallway - a tired grin on his face - he is standing, staring at me with sad, yet happy eyes. I blink a couple of times to make sure that it really is him before I speed to him and envelope him in a much needed hug.
"Twin sister." He breaths out and I smile as tears gathers in my eyes.
"Twin brother." I say softly and we pull apart. Tears shining in both our eyes but there's also happiness in there. Happy to be with each other again.
"What happened?" I ask him and the happiness dissapear from his face and a dark look takes its place.
"Back in 1919, when Mikael found us here. It wasn't an accident. Marcel and Rebekah used Genevieve to call our father here to the city. To kill us. I saw it with my own eyes" He explains to me and a few tears of hurt and betrayal escapes both of our eyes.
"What?" I ask him in a whisper, hoping I heard wrong but he nods in confermation. A wave of hurt washes over me, not the worst I've felt but it comes second. Then anger takes me over.
"They are going to pay." I tell him, anger taking me over.
"I agree." He says and bends down and picks up a knife. "This is what caused my pain and immobliasation. And now I'm going to use it on Rebekah. Marcel I'll kill infront of her." He tells me and my eyes widen.

"You can't kill Marcel." I tell him in an apologetic tone.
"Why not?" My twin asks confused.
"I made a promise to her." I say simply.
"You can't be serious." He says exasperately. "They brought Mikael upon us." He argues.
"I made a promise. And if you make me break it, I will be very cross with you and you won't see me for a century." I tell him sternly and he gapes at me before huffing and nodding his head. We speed off together, looking for Rebekah.
"Rebekah! Rebekah!" Nik yells for the umpteenth time and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah, cause she is going to willingly come to her two anger filled twin siblings." I say sarcastically and before he can throw a retort, we spot a panicked looking Rebekah at the end of the hall we're in. I don't blame her. One of us is bad enough but Nik and I - together and in our element - are a lethal and dangerous combination that you don't survive.
"Nik. Lex, it isn't true." She says in a panicked tone and I go red with rage.
"Are you suggesting that Nik lied to me?" I ask her, my rage growing.
"I want to believe you, sister. But your face tells a different story." Nik tells her. Afraid, Rebekah speeds away from him. He starts to yell after her again. "You cannot hide from me, Rebekah! Nor can you run. This ends now." He tells her. He glances at me and I nod and we speed of after her again. We eventually find her in one of the abandoned rooms.
"Rebekah! Tired of running?" Nik taunts and I chuckle darkly.
"Maybe she's accepted her fate." I suggest to him.
"I know how much you enjoy the chase. I'd sooner deny you the pleasure." She says, eyes flickering to both of us.
"Well, then I'll take my pleasures in other ways. No more "daggered in a box" for you. Trust me, sister, you'll long for what the dagger offered. This will be far less merciful. How to describe exactly what this blade does?" Nik says, holding up the blade.
"You don't have to do this, Nik." My sister says. Should I even call her that?
"We swore a vow. 'Always and Forever'. So why, Rebekah? Why do it?" I ask her.
"I wanted to be free." The blonde answers simply and I glare.
"After I plunge this into your heart, you will be immobilized, imprisoned in a state of raw, inescapable anguish. Time loses all meaning. It's not unlike a living hell, which I find rather fitting, given your treachery." Nik tells her and sympathy blooms in my chest as I remember the pain that shot through me, when I was trapped in the barrier spell.
"Then do it. If that's what you really want." Rebekah tells us.
"Are we skipping the part where you beg for mercy? For forgiveness? Because I was really looking forward to that." Nik asks her in a taunting manner.
"I'll pass. I know better than to think it would do me any good." She tells my twin and looks to me. "And I know better than to ask anything of you. You don't give second chances to when it comes to your twin." I nod in response. I don't give any second chances when it comes to my family but what do I do when the person who hurt my twin is my family?
"That's it, then? You concede? Like a lamb to the slaughter. What would your father think of you now?" Nik taunts again and Rebekah seems to lose it as she lunges towards my twin, but he throws her off easily. Still weak from the werewolf venom, she grunts in pain as she falls to the floor. Covertly grabbing a wooden plank as a weapon, she gets up and rushes toward Klaus again, hitting him repeatedly with it. Nik is stronger, though, and throws her off again as I just stand and watch. Before he can do further harm to her, Marcel suddenly arrives and starts to attack him and that's when I lose it. I grab him and I throw him accross the room.
"Hurt him again, and I'll break my promise." His eyes widen at my words and I turn to my twin and I blink at him once, he returns the signal and I sigh in relief. It's our signal for telling the other to play along.
"Just the man I wanted to see." Nik says and speeds to Marcel and hits him and the latter groans as my twin continues to hit him.
"Rebekah's punishment won't be complete until she watches you die." Nik says but I know he wouldn't do it. He doesn't fancy the idea of not having me around for a hundred years.
"Nik, it was my idea to summon Mikael. If you're gonna hurt anyone, it should be me." She says frantically and I scoff, trying to save Marcel's life that isn't even in danger. "Lex, would you really break your promise to Davina?" She questions and my hybrid face grows and a blinding pain shoots through me.
"You don't get to say her name." I spit out before adding: "When it comes to my twin, you don't have any clue what I'm capable of." I tell her and it isn't a lie but it isn't the truth either. I would have killed Marcel the second he entered this room if I didn't make a promise to her.
"Such loyalty to your beloved. You know, if you had offered me even a fraction of the same, I wouldn't have to do this." Nik says and he lifts the blade, about to stab Rebekah in the heart with it, but Elijah intervenes and stabs it into Nik' chest. I fall to my knees from the pain and my twin is laying in Elijah's arms.
"Go. Both of you. Run as far and as fast as you can. Run!" My eldest brother tells them and I start to get up as the pain starts fading. I'm about to go after them when my neck is snapped.

The Card Thief of Culnivar
Deep with the cozy kingdom of Daeton, among the generation-old farmlands and villages, a young farmer’s daughter stumbles upon a dead man. His elaborate clothing has been torn to ribbons, yet his skin remains unblemished. His face is peaceful, and tucked into the hand lying across his chest can be seen a solitary playing card. He is a Ludum Haeres. The last remnant of a Summoner. Numbered among those few capable of changing their destinies. The unseen rulers of the world known as Vesperia, and one of the most powerful creatures in existence. The woman knows none of this. And so, she picks up the card... This is my third novel on Royal Road, the first being "Beyond the Horizon's Eye", and the second being "The Dawnfire Archives". This story is something of a test in a new genre, that of CardLIT. We'll see how well it succeeds as the story continues. It takes place in a different setting than my other tales, with an entirely new cast of characters. It does, however, contain several ties between the stories. Average post between 1000 - 3000 words.
