《Mated to a Bad Boy》Chapter 11: You're Next

The folded note has my name on it, and with a fast beating heart I untie it from the rock. Unwrapping the note my heart stops. In bold letters taking up a large portion of the paper written in red.... You're next. But that is not the worst of it. Something fell out of the letter as I opened it and landed on the floor. Upon closer inspection I see that it is a severed ear. I feel my skin crawl, stomach churns and I begin heaving. Is that Calla's ear?
"What the hell?! I shriek with tears streaming down my face.
The door slams open and I'm in Hunter's arms. I bury my teary face into his chest. Why is all of this happening to me? Hunter lefts me up and sits me on the couch, holding me close.
Jasper comes running in moments later looking angry. "Who ever it was got away, Alpha."
Hunter lefts himself off the couch and runs his fingers through his hair before yelling and letting his fist fly. I hear the loud bang and I feel myself jolt. A fist-sized hole now adorns the wall.
"Take the.... 'evidence'.... to Jessica and have her check it out, and up all patrols. Leave no stone unturned till Calla is found." Hunter orders and Jasper puts the the ear and note into individual bags and Caleb goes to double the forces.
"Let's go." He whispers to me. With his arm around my shoulder, he walks me upstairs and to my room. I immediately head for my shower.
I scrub my body till it feels like my skin is ripping off but I still don't feel clean. This whole ordeal is fucked up. Who the fuck cuts someone's ear off and sends it to someone?

I get out of the shower and wrap the towel around me, then I reach for my clothes. Shit. I ran in her in such a hurry that I didn't grab myself a change of clothes.
Gripping the towel tightly around me, I walk out of the bathroom heading for my dresser. I reach out my hand for the knob of the drawer when I hear the sound of someone clearing their throat behind me. I turn to see Hunter sitting on my bed hiding a big grin. I thought he left and went to his room.
"Why are you still in my room, don't you have something you need to be doing?" I stand awkwardly.
"I was going to tell you to pack a suitcase. You're going to stay with your pack for a few days till things settle down around here. I have already talked to your parents. We leave in the morning." He tells me and I feel my jaw hit the floor. I'm going to see my family. I can't contain my elation as I jump into his arms and throw my arms around him.
Hunter leaves the room and I start packing a suitcase. I'm about halfway through with filling my suitcase when I get this uneasy feeling of being watched. I can feel the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I look out the window into the pitch black nothingness of the nighttime territory. The trees around the house are rendered dark twisted shadows with gnarled, claw-like hands reaching for the stars so far out of reach. Then I notice it, the shadowy figure watching me from behind one of the trees, their dark shape barely illuminated by the moon. I'm unable to make out their face but I can tell it's a girl. My heart is going crazy. How long were they out there watching me? Whoever they are, they realized that I have taken notice of them and bolt. I quickly close the blinds and pull the curtains closed. I put my hand on my heart and it is racing. What the actual hell? Should I tell Hunter about my watcher? Maybe not right now. There could be an explanation for this. She could be someone from the pack who was ordered to watch over me. Or maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me, after all with everything that's going on and my lack of sleep, anything could be mistaken for a human shape.

The next morning I excitedly get dressed and rush to the kitchen. Eggs and bacon are already sitting on the counter for me.
Sitting at the stool I hear the sound of someone walk down the hall from the office. I look to see Autumn giving me the most hateful look before walking out and slamming the door. Moments later Hunter walks out of the office, looking annoyed. Did something happen between the two of them? Deep down I can feel my heart ache.
"Are you ready to go?" He asks.
"Yes, I packed my bag and I'm ready. Is everything okay? I saw Autumn and she looked pissed." I ask shyly.
"It's nothing for you to be concerned about. Eat your breakfast and then we'll go." Hunter leaves it at that.
I finish my food and grab my suitcase. Following Hunter, he brings me to a white Bugatti Veyron. This is his car? I stare wide-eyed at the expensive car for a moment.
"What? Did you think I only had a motorcycle?" He chuckled.
"No. I figured you would have a car but not something like this." I croak.
