《Feral | ✓》FERAL: chapter three

gaius
The room falls silent while both Gray and Foster stare at me. Foster's brown eyes widened as he took in my words while Gray, on the other hand, stared at me with an unreadable expression.
Gray moves towards me and I immediately tense not knowing what his next move would be. He tries to make his way to the bed but I grab his arm before he can do so.
Gray snatches his arm out of my grip before he turns to me, eyes full of rage.
"Move out of my way, Gaius," he says, voice cold.
"You know I can't," I sigh. "He's my mate, Gray- my mate! You know how long I've been waiting for this," I plead.
Gray doesn't bat an eye. "He's feral, you know the rule about feral rogues."
"He probably can't even feel your bond, Gai. It's better to take your chances with a second chance mate," Taylor says from behind Foster.
The suggestion makes me frown, most wolves don't get a second chance mate. It's extremely rare to get one.
I shake my head. "He might not, but I'll never know if you just kill him."
"Enough!" Gray booms as he uses his alpha voice. "He's feral, Gaius now I'm going to ask you one last time to move."
Those ice blue eyes that used to scare me throughout my childhood meet my brown. I frown at the threat and my head drops slightly. Gray, once again, moves towards the bed and the growls increase. After fighting with the other rogue, my mate's already weak and wouldn't be able to defend himself. Before Gray can pass, I quickly grab his hand one last time.
"Gai-" he starts but I cut him off.
"What if it was Quinn?" I ask quietly.

Gray tenses at the mention of his mate. His cold eyes waver for a second before returning to their stoic state.
"If it was Quinn would you be able to kill her?" I turn to Foster. "What if it was Taylor?"
Both men stare at me with unreadable expressions and I wait for a reply.
"It's not Quinn or Taylor. Look, Gaius-" Foster tries to explain.
"-You really think there's a person behind those red eyes?" Gray questions and I nod.
I wasn't sure if my mate had an ounce of humanity but I wanted to believe so. Why else would the Moon Goddess mate me to them?
My eyes drift towards the bed where my weakened mate lays watching the whole scene play out. It seems that earlier he was running off of adrenaline because now he makes no move to get up. This scratches another one of the assumptions about feral rogues off the list. People say that the only thing on their mind is killing and that they won't stop for anything, but as my mate lays here, they watch the situation play put hesitantly. It almost makes me want to believe that they can understand what's happening.
"One chance, Gaius," Gray says through gritted teeth. "You have one chance to prove to me that he isn't just some monster. You can take him back with you but he stays inside your house and doesn't come out, if he attacks anyone then I'll kill him on the spot."
A smile makes its way onto my face. "Gray tha-"
"Don't," Gray snaps. "Like I said, if he attacks anyone while he's here, then I will kill him but I will also banish you."
The room falls silent and the smile falls off my face. I nod stiffly at him before looking back at my mate. His red eyes meet mine and multiple emotions swirl through them, hesitantly I make my way towards him. He growls slightly but stops when I get close and sniffs around for a few minutes. I turn towards Gray and offer him a smile.

"He won't attack anyone," I tell him confidently.
Gray watches us for a few minutes before he moves towards the door.
"I'm going to check on the other rogue and make sure Gaius didn't sneak another feral into pack lands."
I ignore Gray as I turn back to my mate. The first thing we're going to have to do is give him a bath. Now that I was looking up close, I notice just how dirty his brown fur is.
"So you're really going to keep that thing, huh?" Foster questions.
Oh, I forgot he was here.
"I am," I tell him.
Foster sighs as he leads Taylor to the door but not before turning around and offering me a small smile.
"Look, Gaius," he starts. "I know how long you've been waiting for your mate but just-" he pauses. "Just don't get your hopes up too much."
I watch as Foster leaves before turning back to my mate.
"Alright," I say out loud. I still wanted to talk to him even if he may not be able to hear me or know what I'm saying. "Let's get you checked out!"
I consider linking one of the doctors to come back, but seeing how my mate acted before, I figured it would be best not do so.
So how am I going to get you out?
I consider this for a minute. Maybe I could use the same method I used to bringing them in.
I turn back to them and slowly reach out only to be met with growls. Continuing, I try to grab at him but an attempt to bite me has me pulling away.
"D-do you need help?" A quiet voice asks from the doorway.
I turn towards it and standing there is a girl in a nurse outfit. She looks absolutely terrified.
"Actually yes," I tell her honestly. "Are there any doctors who can help me put this wolf back to sleep?"
She stared at me for a minute before her eyes gloss over and I assume she's linking someone.
"Doctor Glassman is on his way," she tells me and I smile back at her.
The girl slips out the room leaving me alone with my mate again. Their eyes dart around the room and take everything in before landing on me once again. Like this, they almost don't seem feral but the red eyes are a dead giveaway. The door opens to reveal Doctor Glassman and I offer the man a smile.
His black hair is neatly brushed and his thick rimmed glasses frame his green eyes that scrunch up as returns my smile.
"Hi, Doc-" I try to greet but a quick growl interrupts me from doing so.
I turn back towards the bed where my mate lays with his teeth bared and snarling. A frown forms and I let out a sigh.
Someone doesn't like doctors.
