《Knock, Knock》Fifty-seven

My eyes move from the gold chain wrapped around the base of her neck to the white Hollister long sleeve shirt and down to her ripped black jeans and white vans. Casey looked delectable, however, she was standing on the other end of the hallway. I was beginning to regret prohibiting her from interacting with me during school hours.
I groan as I enter my classroom. Just one more week then spring break would be in play. And not even 48 hours after the break is over, all seniors would be in Tampa Florida for a week. I wasn't ready for it. It might not have been obvious but I'm clingy, even a few hours away from Casey Kings is hell.
My ears perk when I hear knocking at my door, my heart skips a beat in hope that it would be Casey. To my blatant dismay, in comes Naomi. She smiles as she greets me, entering my classroom. She hands me a sheet of paper, "The school is going to have classes for seniors and juniors during spring break for those who need to get the right amount of credits to graduate. Principal Espinoza informed me a few minutes ago that the two of us are scheduled to be there."
My mouth hangs ajar. "What? I already have plans" I complain as I take the paper.
Naomi nods her head in agreement, "We would get paid during this break." Naomi doesn't say anything else as she exits my classroom, leaving me to pout. That will be 2 weeks without spending majority of my time with Casey Kings. But then again, it was probably needed.
The ringing bell grabs my attention and I make my way towards my door to greet my students. Glancing down the hallway I spot a particular brown-skinned already eyeing me. She sends me her breathtaking smile before making her way towards her classroom.
Once the second bell rings, I shut my door and glance at my class. "Good morning all, I hope you all had a great weekend. If you all have heard from last week, today we will not be learning anything. In a few minutes, we will be heading to the gym for the school's annual pep rally."
My students all cheered, grateful that we wouldn't be going over work. "With that being said, you can go ahead and get out your homework. You all had since Friday to get it completed. I will not be taking late work for the rest of the semester."
I move around the room collecting their homework, overall pleased that I was receiving more than usual. Just as I finished gathering the paperwork the announcements were on.
They released us all by hallways, starting upstairs first then moving downstairs. My hallway was last to be called to the gym. Students raided the hallways to get to the gymnasium, excited for this upcoming rally. I immediately find Emily and we walk side by side behind the students.
"Finally a damn break from these kids. I love teaching but I'm starting to think once the seniors graduate, I'll go to Elementary."
I scrunch my nose at her suggestion, "Children are more difficult to deal with. Imagine little kids running around not listening to you. At least with teenagers, they know what they're doing wrong."

Emily chuckles and rolls her eyes, "And with teenagers, you have to deal with horny guys, popularity getting to their head and dramatic girls. At least with children, you don't have to deal with teenage rebellion."
I nod my head, she had a point. I'm startled when I feel a hand on the small of my back. I jump slightly and turn to my left, spotting Casey. I frown as I glance behind us, making sure no one was watching. "Your class should've been here by now. What are you doing?" I question as we near the gymnasium. Casey smiles, "I may or may not have hid in the restroom and waited for you."
I roll my eyes at the teenager. "Exactly what I mean. Instead of horny teenage boys, you get hormonal teenage girls" Emily jokes as she makes her presence known for Casey. The girl flicks her teacher off to which Emily gasps. "Detention Casey Kings."
I chuckle and bring my attention back to my girlfriend. "What was it I told you like a month ago?"
The girl faux confused before shrugging her shoulders, "Uh, I don't know. Probably something along the lines of, I'm cumming."
My heart stops and my face heats up at her comment before I slap her arm away from me. She and Emily laugh before entering the packed gym. I follow behind them, shaking my head. A few students were standing on the side of the bleachers along with the teachers. In the middle of the gym stood the principal.
Once everyone calmed down and there was a pin-dropping silence engulfing us Principal Espinoza began with the morning announcements like any other regular day before getting the rally started. Casey and I were tucked away in the corner of the gym, hidden behind a few teachers and students.
"You look beautiful today" Casey whispered in my ear. I smile and turn my head towards the girl, "Really? I'm dressed like any other teacher, what makes me so special? Or are you saying the other teachers are also beautiful?"
The curly-haired girl rolled her eyes in annoyance. Her arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer. I quickly take a step back a bit startled by her actions. I glance around nervously, to see if there were any eyes on us. Casey chuckles before pulling me back into her. "Don't be scared. I'm making sure we don't get caught. You trust me right?"
I hesitate before nodding my head and relaxing in her arms. She smiles and presses her lips against my neck. "Even if you and Mrs. Perez are wearing the same plaid skirt, you look a million times better in it. Even if you and Mr. Mason are wearing the same white button-up shirt, you look a million times better, especially when you expose this much cleavage."
My lips pull into a wide smile as I feel her finger on my exposed cleavage. We immediately pull away when a student exits the gym. Feeling as if we'd get caught, I put a safe amount of distance between us before turning my attention to the cheerleaders. Casey takes the hint and finally gives the rally her attention.
My brows knit together as I notice Desire among the cheerleaders. I had no idea she was a cheerleader. I turn my head to glance at my girlfriend to see if she had a clue, only to find the same shocked expression on her features.

Desire takes the mic from the principal. "I have an announcement to make," she says her eyes searching the crowd of students. "Casey Kings" she spits causing other students to glance around for the brown-skinned beauty. One of the teachers in front of us turns, immediately spotting Casey. He smiles and pushes her to the center of the gym, grabbing Desire's attention.
I frown, in confusion. What did she want with my girlfriend?
Desire smiles as she turns to her fellow cheerleaders. She grabs a bouquet of flowers from an unfamiliar brunette. She hands them to Casey.
The girl swallows hard before taking the flowers from her friend. The gym is quiet, so quiet I was almost certain they could all hear my jealous heart beating against my chest in anticipation. Desire gets on her knee, causing students to lean on the edge of their seats, waiting for her to speak.
"Casey Kings, will you make me the happiest senior in school and be my date to prom?"
My heart falls. I had already told Casey I was fine with her and Desire going together but I felt as if this was going too far. Was she hoping for a reaction from me? Casey glances around nervously. Students egg her on, telling her to say yes as well as a few teachers. Desire eyed Casey hopefully.
"Yes," Casey spits. The crowd goes wild, cheering the two of them on. Then it gets a bit carried away. You could hear guys egging them on to go in for a kiss. I watch as Casey bites on her lip, she knew I was watching. I hold my breath waiting for the next moment. Surely they wouldn't kiss. Surely Desire knew I was watching. Surely Casey wouldn't let it happen a second time.
But the students continued wanting a kiss from the two. Casey took a step closer to Desire. I watched everything unfold. Casey wrapping her arm around the dark-haired girl. Her lips getting too closer to her lips. Even Desire was taken back at her actions.
I blink, hoping she wasn't going to give in to their wishes. Casey leans in. The gym grows quiet, every boy on the edge of his seat hoping for some girl-on-girl action. My lips curl upwards when Casey plants her lips on the girls' cheek. Everyone boos the two but Casy doesn't seem to care. She smiles at Desire before walking away.
She doesn't come back to my side. She doesn't even acknowledge me as she exits the gymnasium in a hurry to get away from the booing crowd. Once everyone settles down and the band begins playing, I slip away to go find Casey.
I immediately find her at her locker, shoving the bouquet of flowers into the small confinement. I don't speak as I watch her slam the door and groan before slamming her head on the door. I raise my brows in amusement. When she finally turns she lets out a breath. "Sorry, I didn't hear you."
I nod my head, "Are you okay?"
The girl nods her head. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Did you come out here to make sure I was okay? Or were you hoping to get a few extra minutes with your favorite person?"
I shake my head. "That was, that was something. You had everyone on the edge of their seats in there. I even got a bit worried."
Casey frowns, "I worried myself as well. I almost gave in to their wishes. I almost kissed her. I just wanted them to shut up. I couldn't think with them practically yelling in my ear. I was already going crazy in my head because I had no idea she was going to publicize us going to prom together. I was so close to kissing her, Kathryn. And then all I could see was you."
I clench my jaw at her confession. "If you weren't here, I'm afraid I would've done it. And I don't even know if I would have the guts to tell you. You would hear about it from someone else."
I take a step closer to her, "But you didn't. That's all that matters."
The girl shakes her head, "Kathryn I almost kissed someone else. I almost hurt you. I came back to my senses so quickly and I'm so happy that I did because I don't think I could face you again after doing that. I am so sorry."
I smile at the girl, "I know baby. I forgive you. Being under that kind of pressure can make you do a lot of things. I wouldn't be mad at you probably would've been hurt but not mad. Don't beat yourself up over it, okay."
The girl sighs, her eyes meeting mine. "You are too good to me."
I pull the girl into a hug. We remain in that position for a bit longer before finally pulling away. I smile at the girl. "Let's get back in there before someone suspects something." Casey smiles and nods her head allowing me to lead the way back into the gymnasium. However, I'm stopped and pulled back into the girl. Without any hesitation, our lips collide causing me to smile.
"You are a bad girl Casey. You just use your good grades and attendance to give us that visage. In reality you are bad" I hiss.
Once the pep rally was over students were instructed back to their classes. It was already nearly lunch time, so some of these students were halfway through their day. I enter my classroom and close the door behind me.
I let out a breath as I run my hand through my hair and make way to my desk when a voice startles me. "How would Principal Espinoza react to the image of seeing Casey Kings and Kathryn Howard kissing in the hallway when they should be in the gymnasium for the pep rally?"
My heart drops as my eyes glance up from my laptop to the man standing at the back of my classroom with that terrifying smirk. I blink a few times in disbelief, there was no way he was in here.
I try to make a run for the door but I'm stopped by the man's booming voice. "I wouldn't do that if I were you Kathryn. I have proof this time around, I'm not afraid to use it."
