《Knock, Knock》Seventy-four

I cock my head to the side, my eyes never leaving Kathryn as she spoke to the cashier. She tucks her card back into her wallet before grabbing the receipt and our cups. My eyes trail from her braided brown hair, past her exposed shoulders, and to her cute ass that was prominent through her jeans. She moves from the counter, checking the receipt and approaching the table.
"I think I should've gotten the oreo shake instead of the vanilla shake" her voice grabs my attention. I look away from the cashier and towards my girlfriend. She sighs, eyes landing on me. "I'll survive. Emily is supposed to meet us there."
Nodding my head, I sit up in the booth and grab her by the hand, pulling her to take the spot beside me. She chuckles, placing her hand on my bare leg. "Are you nervous?" I question, throwing my arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer. She chuckles, "About getting a new apartment? It won't be my first."
"Yeah, but this apartment complex is different from where you currently live. It's a gated community and they have active security. And from what Sophia told us, they're really strict on who they let live in their apartments. What if your neighbors are assholes?"
Kathryn hums. "I guess I'm not nervous because you're here with me right now and you'll be with me when I apply for the apartment. And You'll be with me until August so if I have any asshole neighbors you can put them in their place before you leave" the brunette smiles.
I kiss her cheek with a smile, "You're damn right baby. I dare someone to say something to you. I will beat the sh--"
"Aren't you still recovering from your injuries?" the brunette questions sarcastically. I lick my lips cocking my head to the side, my eyes still on the beauty. "I will still beat the shit out of them. I don't care if I had a broken leg. I have to keep my baby safe" I mutter, raising my hand to cup her face.
Kathryn smiles, leaning into my hand. "Kathryn!" we hear and jump apart. The brunette chuckles and stands, leaving her belongings on side of me. I watch her head to the front to grab our order. I watch in annoyance as the cashier tries to flirt with her once again. The woman shows that she's not interested but the boy continues.
I sigh, it's always the men. They can never take a fucking hint. I stand from my seat and make my way over, "Babe." Kathryn turns to me, realizing what was happening. She smiles and shakes her head, grabbing the tray and heading back to our table. The cashier shows obvious annoyance in my presence.
He begins to walk away but I stop him, "We're missing a vanilla shake."
His eyes trail over to Kathryn, realizing that he had in fact forgotten her drink. He nods his head, swallowing down his ego. "I'll get that right to you."
I chuckle and nod my head, turning to spot Kathryn. The woman was too focused on the food to notice my hungry eyes on her. All I could think about was our visit to the doctor's office. We'd been told she either suffers from Dissociative identity disorder or Bipolar Personality disorder.
We wouldn't know which one until Doctor Wells called us, which we're expecting a call later this week."Here you go."
I bring my attention away from my girlfriend, grabbing the shake. I lean over the counter, startling the cashier. I smile kindly, "You know, the key to being attractive is when women tell you no, you listen. The persistent creepy shit," I trail, keeping my eyes on his. "Will get you beat the fuck up."

He swallows timidly, nodding his head. I step back and smile, "Cool." I head back to our table. I set Kathryn's shake next to her before grabbing our cups. "What do you want to drink?" I question. "Lemonade or sprite, no ice."
I nod my head and walk over to the fountain drinks, filling our cups with lemonade. I place the tops onto the cup and head back to our table, sitting opposite my girlfriend. I immediately grab a nugget from the tray and throw it into my mouth.
Kathryn's eyes watch me before she shakes her head. "What? I'm hungry."
"You threatened that poor kid, didn't you?" she questions, pointing towards the cashier. I shrug my shoulders, "I'm protective. It happens."
The brunette scoffs, "You're possessive is what you are."
Once again I shrug, "Same difference."

My eyes move all around the office, admiring how pretty it was. It was so neat and decorative and cozy. Kathryn and Emily sat across from the manager, speaking business. Since I would be in California majority of the time, Emily would be on Kathryn's lease for emergencies. I was just here to check out the apartment itself.
"And what about your friend over there? Will she be staying with you?" the woman, Erika, questions. Kathryn nods her head, "Only for a few months. She leaves for college around late July early August."
The woman types onto her keyboard, keeping notes. "And your name?" she questions me.
"Casey Kings" I answer, feeling slightly shy. The woman smiles, "As in Christian and Lillie's daughter Casey?"
I nod my head slowly. How did she know me? Or more specifically, how did she know my parents? Erika smiles, "It's so good to see you all grown up. How old are you now? 18? 19?"
Kathryn eyes me but all I can do is stare at the woman in confusion. She chuckles, "You probably don't remember me well. I usually wasn't home around the time you and Bella were."
My brows shoot up at the information. She wasn't possibly talking about Bella Martinez, right? No way. I really didn't want to see her anytime soon. However, the universe (as always) is against me. The door to the office opens and in comes two people. I eye the couple.
There was a brown-skinned boy with curly hair, his arms draped around the girl who undoubtedly looked like a younger version of the woman sitting at the desk. I bite on my cheek, hazel eyes moving from her boyfriend and landing on all three of us.
She smiles shyly, "Sorry sis, I didn't know you had applicants coming today. Juan just invited us to the game next Thursday and I was coming to tell you."
I glare at Erika, already knowing what her next words were going to be. She doesn't notice the threats behind my glare, "Bella so glad you're here. Look who's magically reappeared" she points at me.
For fuck's sake. "It's Casey. Remember, your little girlfriend from freshman year."
I inhale, forcing my eyes away from the dark-haired girl standing a few feet away. Emily clears her throat, wanting to get this situation over with. I approach my girlfriend, placing my hands on her shoulders as I ignore my brain telling me to look at the girl behind me.
I didn't want to see her. I never wanted to see her after she dumped me, or rather cheated on me. Was he the same boy from before? Or was this a different guy? I roll my eyes, why should I even care?

"Well, we have an apartment ready if you guys would like to see the floorplan. Unfortunately, I have to stay here, I have another couple coming in, in a few minutes. Bella would you be kind enough to show these three to the apartment in section B?"
Fuck me. Seriously, fuck me.
"Yeah sure. Juan, you can stay here, I'll be back soon."
Bella comes into view to grab the key from her sister, her eyes casually landing on me. I eye her for a few seconds, watching her lips pull upwards into a teasing smirk. "You guys can follow me" she mutters, eyes never leaving me. I furrow my brows in confusion but follow behind her.
Kathryn grabs my hand, forcing us to walk a little slower than Emily and Bella. "Such a small world. Your first girlfriend's sister works here as the leasing manager." Groaning, I rest my hand on the small of her back, "Please don't remind me. If you get this apartment, I'm staying inside forever in hopes to not see either one of them."
The woman laughs. We continue our walk. I glance around us, this apartment complex was a lot better than the current one Kathryn and I was staying at. Eventually, we make it to the apartment. Bella unlocks the door allowing us to enter first. Emily goes in first then Kathryn afterward.
I frown as I glance at the dark-haired girl. She only smiles and points her hand allowing me to enter. I step into the apartment, getting that amazing 'new apartment' smell. Emily and Kathryn immediately begin exploring. Moving from the living room to the den.
"You have got to move in here. It's so spacious" Emily grins to her best friend. I ignore the older women making my way into the kitchen. It's more spacious than I'm used to in an apartment.
"Have you already graduated?" Bella's voice grabs my attention. I raise my brows and glance at her, feeling slightly uneasy since her eyes were already eyeing my figure over the counter. "Yeah, a few days ago."
She smiles and licks her lips. "How have you been? We haven't kept in touch since the breakup."
This atmosphere makes me uncomfortable. Why does she want to make small talk? "Uh yeah. Things have been great for me. H-how about you?"
The girl shrugs, her eyes leave me and land on Kathryn who was heading into the room. "So you're still going through the lesbian phase?" I frown at her comment, not pleased in the slightest bit. Sighing, I move out of the kitchen and head towards the balcony. "Being a lesbian was never a phase for me. It's just who I am."
Bella scoffs, "You're just rebellious. Let's face it lesbians in the real world aren't actually lesbians. They just say they are for a trend or to get a mans' attention."
I eye her in annoyance, "The way you're thinking, lets me know that you truly have not grown up at all. You're still the stubborn ignorant girl you were 4 years ago. People are fucking gay Bell, it happens. And it's not like we're choosing to be this way."
She smiles, "It's disgusting."
"You know what? I don't even fucking care about your opinion. Being gay for you was a phase but for me, I like women. I have never found a guy attractive. If you don't like it you can kiss my ass."
"Casey" I hear. I turn away from the ignorant asshole in the den and towards my girlfriend. She glances between the two of us before speaking, "Come look at the room. This closet's massive, you should come pick your side."
I nod my head and push past the girl as I head to the room. I immediately take in Emily's displeased face, which causes me to smile. They were definitely eavesdropping. Ignoring any anger I was feeling, I explore the room.
The room is really spacious, a bit bigger than Kathryn's room in the other apartment. I make my way into the bathroom, smiling as I notice there was a stand-up shower and then a tub. This apartment has got to be about $900-$1000, there was no way this apartment was only $880 a month. That was being too generous.
Kathryn's arms wrap around my waist and she rests her chin on my shoulder. "It's amazing here, isn't it?" her lips press to the side of my neck. I nod my head in agreement.
"You should move in. It's got high security a great pool even a small park. And it's clean here and spacious. And it's not like the apartment you have now. I'm pretty sure that building was a hotel before it changed."
The brunette chuckles nodding her head. "Well, I'm sold on this apartment. It's not too far from everyone and there are some schools close by that I can check out."
I nod my head, turning in her arms. I smile at the beauty. My eyes betray me and I glance behind her to Bella, noticing the look of uneasiness on her features along with a tad bit of jealousy.
"Let's do it. Let's move in" I kiss my girlfriend. We all leave the apartment and head back to the office. Erika, Bella's sister, has other applicants here already so we have to wait. I pull out my phone, noticing several notifications from my sister. Unlocking the device I click on the link she sent me.
I read over the article, my smile growing wider after every word.
I jump up from my chair in excitement, startling everyone in the office. I turn towards my girlfriend, ignoring the onlookers. "Baby, that asshole has been caught!" I cheer. I do a small happy dance, happy that my girlfriend would no longer have to live in fear of that narcissistic creep.
Kathryn frowns in confusion so I hand her my phone, letting her read over the article. Once she does, her beautiful brown eyes land on me. "This isn't a joke, right?" she questions, a smile threatening to spill on her lips.
I bite my lip and shake my head, "It's real. He's finally be caught. I thought I was going to have to kill him" I mutter happily. He's finally be caught! I seriously thought I was going to go to jail behind that asshole.
Ryn smiles, tears forming on her waterline. "Hey, hey don't cry" I whisper crouching down in front of her. She sniffs and shakes her head, pulling my knuckles to her lips. "These are happy tears, Casey. I feel so relieved not only for my safety but for yours and everyone around us. I can relax a bit knowing he's going to finally be put behind bars where he belongs."
Smiling, I nod my head in agreement. "Miss Howard, did you like the apartment?" Erika questions approaching us. My girlfriend's brown eyes leave mine for a few seconds to glance at the leasing manager. "I loved it" she sighs, "Is there by any chance that I can move in tomorrow?"
Erika smiles, "Of course. Please come over here and we can get all the paperwork filled out and completed and I can hand you your key."
- - - - -
"I never agreed to help you pack and move" I complain falling onto Kathryn's bed. Though we barely did anything today, I was feeling exhausted. Maybe it was because of Bella and Rai, I don't know but I'm glad both situations are over.
I watch the brunette kick off her shoes before climbing into bed beside me. "But you are going to help right?" she questions pressing her lips sweetly against mine. I smile and roll my eyes, "You think a bunch of kisses is going to make me do unintended labor?"
The woman bites her lip, "Well I have something else in mind. Maybe that will help persuade your answer?"
Raising my brows, my eyes follow her rosy lips. "Oh yeah? What do you have in mind?"
She hums, gliding her finger against my arm, "Something we haven't done in a few days. Something I was supposed to do to reward you for graduating."
"Cook me dinner? That's not much of a persuasion" I joke causing her to slap my arm. "How about" she trails placing her lips next to my ear, "you undress me to find out."
"Oh, baby, you have a deal."
