I hope everyone who reads this does not feel discouraged by the book description. Although you are described as Sidney's brother, the reader is not intended to be white. I'm well aware Sidney and her family are white that is not to say that you are. I am a person of color, and my writing is never meant to exclude anyone. Fanfictions with reader inserts are notorious for being exclusionary, particularly to marginalized people.

There is no singular depiction of the reader because he is anything you envision him to look. To be inclusive, the reader should not be generalized to have a specific look. I will not be using any specific descriptors for the reader. I have had enough of reading 'character x reader' fanfictions just for the author to describe their reader as having pale, blemishless skin. They might as well be writing an 'oc x character' story. I see no reason to feed into white supremacist beauty standards. Every reader looks different, and you should have no shame in your looks.
