《This Isn't Mongolia》Chapter Five

Amy was now 6 months pregnant and getting bigger. She wasn't the usual Amy and hadn't touched a horse since getting out of Hospital.
Thankfully Ty had good Life cover and he also had life cover as a partner in the Clinic leaving Amy One and a half million for her and the baby if it came down to the worst case scenario, Amy Just prayed that nothing serious had happened to her husband.
Tim had dropped off a horse he wanted fixed even though Lou had told him that Amy hadn't worked with a horse for over 3 months.
Although Amy shouldn't ride she still did but only at a walk, Spartan was all she had left and spent a lot of time at the Graves talking to her Mum.
Diner time and Tim turned up as usual, they were all eating when Tim asked how his horse was coming along, "I wouldn't know Dad I told you I'm not ready for that yet and besides that I'm 6 months pregnant and the doctors told me to not work with Horses or I could lose my baby".
"But I need him fixed Amy so get on with it "
"NO , you don't tell me what to do, I'm not your slave nor do I work for you".
"Well you've got to get back to it Amy, it's been 3 months since Ty disappeared so pull yourself together.".
"How dare you try to put a time stamp on what I'm feeling, BACK OFF, and leave me alone".
Amy slammed her knife n fork down, gave her father a look he'd never seen before and walked off to her room making a point of slamming her door shut then Locked.
"Nice one dad, what part of not working with Horses while pregnant did you not understand".

"Your treating her with kid gloves too much, get her back to work".
Jack stood up "Why's that Tim cause you need a horse fixed, The only time we get a peaceful Dinner is when you dont show up. So take your horse with you and make alternative choices for your Lunch and Dinners, your not welcome here anymore, now please Leave".
Tim got up and left, saying he'd pick the Horse up in the morning.
Lisa looked at Jack " I know he's your Dad Lou, but I'm glad you told him to go Jack, he's always upsetting our family Dinner time".
"Your right Lisa he is my Dad and sometimes I wish he wasn't, thank you you Grampa, Amy doesn't need that, 3 months isn't enough for her to come to terms with what's happened and in another 3 months she will be having the baby".
Another month had passed and every evening was an enjoyable Dinner time just like they used to have with talking about things in general, Amy thought this may be the best time to approach the subject of where she was going to live as she wasn't comfortable of having a crying baby upsetting the whole Ranch house.
" Grampa, I want to bring something up while everyone is at the table, and I know this is a touchy subject for you but I need to make plans and there's 3 ways I can go with it. The first is that I'm going to need another bedroom in the Loft for the baby which goes against how you feel, as it would mean extending the Loft and barn by about 20 feet.
The second option is to Build my own Ranch on the Land you gave Me and Ty".
"Oh, well you know my feelings about the Loft, and you can build your own House on the Land if you want, but I don't see the need to build another Ranch so close to Heartland, I mean you can use everything here".

"Well I'm trying really hard to see a future for me and the baby and hopefully Ty if he's still alive and what I want to do, I have a few Ideas.
You know what, extending the Loft wont work because the Barn would still be to small, If I can't build my own Ranch on the Land you gave us then you may as well have the Land back, I was hoping to save money by not having to buy land as well.
So that leaves me with option 3".
Amy got up from the Table and started to wobble to her room when Lisa Spoke,"Amy, what's option 3".
Just as Amy was about to walk into her room she stopped and looked at Lisa and Lou " Option 3 is for me to move away from Hudson and Buy my own Ranch where I don't have to ask permission to build on my own Land unlike Lou who was able to build a complete Dude Ranch".
Amy closed the door and locked it .
Everyone was speechless for a while.
" Jack, why can't Amy build her own Ranch on Her Land that you gave them, as Amy just said Lou's built on her Land".
"I don't mind her building a Ranch House , but to many buildings is not necessary, we have a Barn and a Hay Barn, we have paddocks and Coral Rings for Training. We don't need anymore."
"Grandpa that Barn is way to small, we barely have enough Stalls for Family Horses ".
"Look , that's my decision and that is the end of it, I don't want to hear about it again".
Amy was listening at her room door so made the the only choice left to her. She was leaving whether they wanted her to or not, and decided not to say anything until the very last moment. She wanted to find and buy her own Ranch first.
Amy went to bed and it didn't take her long to fall into a deep sleep.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
