《Chasing Rain ✓》Pain

All I need is you. Nothing more and nothing less.
-Damien
I got up from the bed untangling myself from Rain. She was sleeping peacefully.
"Amber?"
I heard her voice as her hands started searching for someone on the now vacant side of the bed.
I placed a pillow there as she cuddled with it. I picked up my boxers and wore it.
I looked at the clock. It read 9:30 a.m. I sighed as I made my way to the bathroom to take do my business and take a bath.
I turned the tap of the shower on as cold water droplets made contact with my skin. The water was freezing cold but I didn't feel like changing the temperature.
The events of last night played in my mind. It was a beautiful night. Just like the first one.
But there was a difference. That night was filled with passion while yesterday night was filled with pain and sorrow.
It was our way of running away from the reality. A way that wasn't fine. But an escape is an escape.
A sob left my mouth as my tears got mixed with that of the water falling from the shower.
Why you left Amber? Why Amy?
Ones nothing remained inside of me. I turned of the shower as I wrapped a towel around my hip as I exited the bathroom.
I looked around the bed to see Rain was still sleeping. I quickly got dressed as I rang Dominic's number.
I don't know when we grew this close but it was like right now he was the only one who can understand me.
"Morning brother.", Dominic said.
I muttered a morning as he asked me why I called him?
"Rain has started to hallucinate. She is saying she can see Amy. I don't know what to do. I tried telling her that she was hallucinating but she refused to believe.", I said.
"Jesus! We need to do something before the matter gets out of our hands. I will book the appointment of the best therapist. You can take her to him. I will book your appointment with him for tommorow.", Dominic stated.
"Alright. Message me the details.", I stated.
I could hear cries from the back.
"Do you have a child in your house?", I asked.
"No I am standing outside. Must be one of the neighbor's kid. I am sorry I couldn't make it for Amber's funeral. Something really important came up.", he said.
"I don't think you wanted to be here. Rain was literally ready to shoot anyone who came near Amber.", I stated in a monotone. A shudder ran down my spine as I recalled those happenings.
"Rain is in a very poor state right now.", Dominic made a statement.
"She even said she ate her ashes when we didn't even burn her.", I stated.
"She really said that?", Dominic asked.
"Yeah.", I stated.
"Umm, brother I will come tomorrow with Reece and Ray. Rain will feel much better with a child and a woman to support her.", Dominic stated.
I furrowed my brow.
"Who are they?", I asked.
"My wife and daughter.", he stated.
My mouth was ajar. He was married and even had a daughter.

"You never told me about it.'?", I stated.
"I wanted to keep them hidden so that no one comes behind them. I have left the underworld, the underworld haven't left me. It was the only way.", he stated.
"Does Rain knows about them?", I asked.
"Yes she does.", Dominic stated.
"So your daughter's name is Reece.", I asked.
"No, no. Reece is my wife. My daughter's name is Ray. She is five years old.", he stated.
"Alright.", I stated.
I didn't know what to say. I felt ashamed at my self. He's able to guard his family so well without any help and even with all the help I had I wasn't able to guard my family.
"Juat get me the details.", I stated as I cut the call.
I looked at my angel. I didn't want to leave her alone in the house so I have decided that I would take her with me.
There was no need for me to go to the office but again it was a mere escape.
"Rain.", I said softly as she slowly opened her eyes. After two days I was seeing that her eyes weren't red. It calmed it.
"Yes?", she asked confused.
"Get ready love. You are going to my workplace with me.", I stated.
She didn't say anything. No questions.
She wrapped the duvet cover around herself as she made her way to her room.
I made my way downstairs. I didn't feel like hiring new staff after my last work staff was assassinated.
I started preparing breakfast myself. I knew Rain won't be eating much thus I just made chicken salad with fresh orange juice.
I looked at the watch to see it was half an hour since Rain has been in her room. It worried me so I went upstairs to check upon her.
How much I say I don't believe in God but I constantly begged to him that Rain doesn't do anything reckless.
I knocked at the door but no voice came from inside. It worried me more.
I opened the door and luckily it want open.
"Rain.", I called out but she didn't reply.
I entered the room and saw that she was already dressed up and was staring at the vacant bed.
"Rain.", I called.
She looked in my direction and rushed towards me.
"Rain what are....."
Before I could complete my statement she signalled me to shush up. So I did. I raised my brow at her questionably.
"You will wake up Amber.", she stated as she looked at the bed with adoration.
My heart clenched seeing her state. I ran a hand through my hair.
I made my way to the bed.
"Damien what are you doing?", she asked as I peeled off the duvet covers.
"No one is here Rain.", I stated.
Rain rushed towards the bed. She looked at the bed and then turned in my direction.
"She was here Damien. Trust me.", she stated.
I placed a kiss on her forehead. She shook her head as tears fell from both of our eyes.
I got on my knees as I hid my face in her clothed stomach.

The guilt was eating me away. It was all my fault. If I shouldn't have brought Rain and Amy in this hell then all of us should have been fine.
"I am sorry. This is all my fault. All my fault. Our daughter paid for my sins. I knew I would pay for my deeds in the worst way in this life itself but I didn't knew my punishment will cause even pain to you. Cause out daughter's life. I am so sorry.", I sobbed.
I felt Rain put her hand in my hair as she softly stroked them calming me.
"Dad once said to me that things happen for a reason. It is up to us if we see the glass half empty or half full. Damien, I tried hard but I couldn't see the glass half full. I really tried thinking she is in a better place but still the thought lingered that wasn't she too small. If they wanted to take someone why not me.", she said. Her tone broken.
She bent down. Now she was also on her knees.
"Someone has taken away my hopes Damien.", she stated.
"I want to see the good but all I can see is the bad.", she said.
"Don't say like that.", I begged to her.
"I really loved you Damien I really did. I even do now and will forever.", she stated as her lips moulded with mine.
The kiss was gentle yet passionate.
I broke the kiss to look at her. She passed me a weak smile.
"I need to use the washroom. Can you make me butterscotch milkshake? Please.", she asked me as I nodded.
"I will be waiting for you down.", I stated as I left the room.
I made my to the kitchen and started preparing the milkshake. My thought went back to Rain's birthday.
Amy and I had such a good time together.
I looked at the clock. It read 8:30 I wanted to make this a very special for Rain and I have made all the preparations for it to.
I quickly took a bath and got dressed.
I picked up a sleeping Amber and left the room.
I tickled her on the way and soon she woke up.
"Good morning Amy.", I said as she kissed my cheek making me chuckle.
I took her to her room's bathroom and helped her do her morning business. After which we brushed our teeth. I had an extra brush in every room so I didn't need to go to my room to get my brush.
After that I decided to give her a bath but it was a very difficult job.
"Amy I will give you a big chocolate if you take your bath.", I cooed trying to bribe her and it worked. Well I was picking up a few things from Rain.
Once I was done giving her a bath. I tied the bath robe around her body. I picked her up and went inside the walk in closet as I choose her dress.
I settled on a maxi with a cardigan. It was pretty cold.
"Amber..."
I called her but she was no more behind me.
I exited the closet to see her jumping on the bed. I just watch her in awe as her hair danced while she jumped. She was content at her action.
But soon while jumping she moved to the corner. So I quickly went and picked her up.
Maybe I should get her a trampoline.
I quickly dressed her up. Meanwhile her stomach growled making me chuckle.
"Is my baby hungry?", I teased as she blushed and nodded her head.
I picked her up and made my way downstairs to the kitchen.
Breakfast was already ready.
I placed her on the counter. While I started plating her breakfast myself. I will have it later. I glared at the workers who were trying to help me. As I placed the plate in front of Amy she pouted and shook her head.
She made a rectangle from her hand and actioned eating it.
I understood what she meant and I felt quite proud.
"You want your chocolate?", I asked and she nodded her head.
But if she eats the chocolate right now then she won't eat her meal. I needed to find an alternative.
"How about Nutella and bread?", I asked and she nodded her head.
Soon the chef got us two slices of Nutella on bread with coconut garnish.
Amy finished them quickly as I made her drink water and then placed her down.
Zoe, our house maid came forward.
"Sir all preparation have been made.", she stated.
I nodded my head and I looked down at Amber. I bent down at her level.
"Amy do you know today is your mother's birthday?", I asked and she shook her head so I told her that we will make a gift for Rain that will be a cupcake made by Amber herself.
Amber agreed immediately.
So I dismissed all the workers from the kitchen as we both started to work over the vanilla cupcake.
I asked Naomi her favorite flavor and it was plain vanilla.
We started making the batter that Amy stirred with all her strength.
I poured the batter in the moulds and placed it inside the preheated oven.
Soon the cupcakes were done.
I by mistake set the temperature a bit higher thus, they were slightly burnt but I didn't tell that to Amy as we wrapped the best cupcake out of them in a wrapping sheet and then put it in a gift box.
We didn't try the cupcakes. I wanted Rain to take the first bite of the first thing baked by her daughter. I didn't want to take that from her.
Once done I picked up Amy and we went in the garden to play with the drone she bought.
I controlled the drone while Amber chased it making me laugh.
A beep brought me out of my daydreaming. I wanted to spoil her and I couldn't even provide her with the basic, protection.
The blending was done and the milkshake was ready. I was just waiting for Rain to come down.
I was startled as the main door was thrown open. One of my guards came in panting.
"Boss, Ms Rain has jumped from the balcony."

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
