《Chasing Rain ✓》Last Time

I have moved far away from hell and heaven. Today I am at peace, away from the chaos and you know what I love it.
-Rain
I rushed out of the door. My heart was beating like a wild animal trying to escape my chest.
I raced to the backyard to see indeed Rain laid there covered in blood. I made my way to her as I kneeled down and placed her head on my lap.
"Rain!"
I called in desperation. I took her right wrist and felt her pulse. It was there.
Faint but there.
"Take out the car.", I barked the order as I picked her up.
As I went back to the front door a car was ready. I got inside the back seat with Rain in my arms.
"Call the nearest hospital to prepare a bed.", I said to the guard who sat on the passenger seat.
I looked at her. Her eyes partially opened. Thank God she was awake. I needed to keep her awake.
"Keep your eyes open Rain. We are about to reach the hospital.", I stated.
She passed me a weak smile.
"I am g-oi-ing to A-Amb-er.", she coughed out as blood spilled out of her mouth.
"Don't say like that. What will I do alone? I love you so much.", I begged not caring that the others were listening to me.
"Lo-ve you.", she muttered as she closed her partially opened eyes.
"No! No! Please angel stay.", I begged to her.
Soon the hospital came in view. The doctors and nurses were standing there ready.
As soon as the car halted in front of the main hospital. The doctors with my help took Rain out of the car and transferred her to the stretcher.
The doctors rushed her inside the hospital.
"Quick. Get the operation theatre prepared."
One of the senior doctor said as they tried stopping her bleeding.
"What is her blood group?", the nurse asked.
"Give me a moment I will tell you.", I took out the phone from the pocket of my blazer coat as I dialled Naomi's number.
She picked up in two rings.
"What? I don't want to talk to a man like you.", she barked.
I didn't find a need to clarify so I directly came to the point.
"What is Rain's blood group?", I asked.
"A+", She stated.
"But why?", she asked.
"Come to the Central Hospital. Rain tried dying by suicide.", I said as I cut the call.
"A+", I stated to the nurse.
I wanted to go inside but she asked me to wait.
Minutes turned to hours.
From nowhere a punch landed on my face. I turned around to see it was Samuel.
He got me by my collar and I didn't resist. I wanted him to hit me. He punched me and I felt a sharp pain in my nose.
He broke it.
"You monster!", he yelled.
I didn't respond because I knew I was one. He was about to land another punch but a hand stopped him.

Dominic
"This is no time to fight Samuel Octavis. Instead let us use this energy to pray for Rain.", Dominic said in a sharp tone making Samuel flinch.
"Come brother let us get your nose fixed. It is bleeding.", Dominic stated but I shook my head.
"I won't leave Rain.", I said.
"Why not? You caused all this."
I heard Naomi yell while Walton tried calming her.
"My babies.", she wailed.
I looked in her direction.
"I will call the nurse. She will aid you here.", Dominic stated and as his words a nurse came and started stopping by bleeding while applying some bandages over it. She said I needed an x-ray but one glare and she ran away.
The doctors came out.
"Her condition is very critical and she is in coma. She has lost too much blood.", the doctor said.
My heart dropped in the pit of my stomach.
"But she jumped from the first floor then how the damage is that much", I asked.
"We are sorry to inform you that she was two weeks pregnant. The miscarriage created a lot of blood loss through her private. We don't know when will she wake up. Or will she even. But don't lose hopes.", the doctor stated as he went back.
"Brother.", Dominic called but I wouldn't hear what he said afterwards.
She was pregnant.
"How many more children you want?", I asked Rain curiously.
"Well handling one in itself is difficult. So I don't think any more.", she said while nodding her head to herself.
"Hey, that is not fair. At least two more.", I said.
I heard her laugh.
"You are such a pouty baby", she teased.
I growled and got on top of her.
"Really?", I asked as I cherished her cheek.
She nodded her head while bitting her lower lips.
"You don't have to give birth to then so you don't know anything.", she whispered.
"I am content with one child also. Amy is the best child I could have.", I said as I softly pressed my lips on her.
Once I broke the kiss. She looked at me and smile.
"You know what Damien Black, I just thought something.", she said.
"What is that?", I asked while tilting my head.
"Having one more child won't be that bad.", she muttered as I gave her a huge smile.
"Brother."
I felt someone shaking me. It was only then I realized that I was sitting on the floor.
"What?", I snapped.
"Keep this locket of Rain. The nurse gave it.", Dominic stated as he passed me this locket.
I took the locket and kept it in my pants pocket.
The doctor said we could meet her. We all went inside. I stood in a corner as everyone talked to her.
Her head was bandaged. I even got to know that she had broken three of her rib bones.
Everyone talked to her and encouraged her to get up.
But something else was swirling in my mind.
I went to her and sat next to her.

"Can I talk to her alone? Please.", I asked.
Naomi was about to object but Walton stopped him as he took Naomi and Samuel's hand and went outside. Followed by Dominic.
"Hey Rain.", I started.
"I know you can hear me. I won't tell you to get up. Because I know you don't want to. It takes a lot of courage to jump. I surely don't have it.", I said as I cherished her cold cheek.
"I free you Rain. From this hell and heaven on Earth. Go and be with your loved ones. This world doesn't deserve you. I don't deserve. Just go Rain. Be the bird you wanted to be. I know even if you wake up you will go through a mental torture. First Amy and now the miscarriage. You deserve better.", I stated.
I made sure no tears slipped down my eyes. I wanted to bid her a happy good bye.
Suddenly I saw the lines on the heart beat monitor fluctuating.
"Amber..."
This was the last word that left her mouth before she fell into an eternal slumber.
I pressed a kiss on her parted lips. The last one.
I pressed the bell and the doctors and nurses rushed in.
They looked at the flat line and realize there was nothing more they could do.
Dominic and Rain's family rushed in. I stood there like a statue. But I knew I did the right thing.
The last thing in my mind before my body gave up was that I saw the glass half full. For the first time I could do that good that my angel couldn't do.
~*~
The next day came by quickly. The funeral was in Naomi's house. She didn't want Rain's body to go back in my mansion and I could understand that.
But I told Naomi, Rain's last wish of wearing a pink and white dress. Naomi cried hard when she got to know why she wanted to wear that dress.
I got up from the bed and the first thing I saw was the photo of us that Dominic clicked in our backyard. I had it framed and placed it just against the opposite wall to the bed so that it is the first thing I see in the morning to mock myself at how lonely I have again become.
I quickly got ready as I left my room to go downstairs. I didn't dare to go to Rain or Amber's room.
As I went downstairs I say Dominic standing there holding a girl in his arm.
Must be Ray.
I looked at the Ray's hands were tied around Dominic's neck and my heart clenched.
Amber also use to cling on to me like that.
My eyes then fell at a petite woman who came and took Ray from Dominic's arms.
Dominic came close to me as he put his hand on my shoulder.
"Ready brother?", he asked softly and I nodded my head.
We left the house as I saw Ray rubbing her eyes.
"Good morning.", Reece cooed.
"Good morning.", she chirped.
"Daddy.", she addressed as she threw her hands in Dominic's direction. Dominic gladly took her.
We sat in separate cars. I didn't want to go with a happy family rather I would be much more glad to drown in my self inflicted pain.
Soon we reached Naomi's house. She didn't invite many people and definitely not me but I still went.
I had to see her for the last time. Also I had something that belonged to her.
We rang the door bell. The ring has changed and how couldn't I recognize this voice. It was Rain's lullaby.
I felt my eyes moistened.
A woman opened the door as we all entered. I went to the backyard.
There laid my angel in a coffin. She looked radiant and looked just like a marshmallow. Just as she wanted.
Everyone stood near the coffin as some of them shared her childhood stories.
No one asked me to speak anything. They were picking her up to lay her next to Amber in the graveyard.
"Stop.", I said.
There movement halted as they placed her down.
"I want to give her something and say something to her.", I said.
Naomi was about to curse me but Walton stopped her.
"Go on.", Walton stated.
I nodded my head as I went to Rain. I got on my knees as I clasped the locket around her neck. Where it deserved to be.
"I won't apologize to you for what I did yesterday because I know even you wanted that. I am just here to say that I dearly love you. More than I ever have loved anyone. I thought of adding my photo in this locket but I didn't do that because I know I don't deserve to be in that. You are far better than me. You are an angel and I am a beast and how much we say, even Hades had to leave Persephone then who am I.", I whispered in her ear.
I got up as her coffin was picked and then taken to the graveyard.
I didn't went to the graveyard. I didn't have the courage.
I decided to take the car and drive back home but mid way I stumbled into someone.
"Ahh.."
I heard a small cry as I bent down to see it was Ray. I smiled at her as I picked her up.
She looked at me shyly.
"Hi.", I stated.
"Hey!", she said cheerfully.
Would my Amber should have been this cheerful.
Yes, she was always filled with energy.
"Ray", I heard a panicked voice.
"Here....", I heard Ray say.
"You scared me princess.", Dominic stated as Ray giggled. I let Dominic take her and without a word I left the house.
As I went to the car it started pouring, hard.
I never liked Rain but today nothing felt better than drenching in it. It was like all my pain was being washed away but the void in my heart only grew.
I looked up at the sky and smiled.
"I loved all three of you.", I stated.
