《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 2

Annabeth's plan worked excellently. Mainly because Thalia listened to it and used her powers first to strike the manticore and then immediately took cover behind her shield as an array of spikes were sent at her.
I followed by going around flanking him and took off his tail as Annabeth had planned and thankfully he turned and missed Annabeth charging at him upon which she jumped on his back as planned. Only for a few seconds later a spear to ram it's way through most of the manticore vital organs dusting the monster.
Mom congratulated us, though I don't know how much train we actually got in. Surprisingly everything went as planned, which has to be like a first for three demigods.
After that we started looking for other dangerous monsters of which we have little intel right now.
Athena has finally joined us though she's still irritated by my presence now. "Sister if you are just going to glare at MY son and not train either him, Thalia, or your own daughter, Annabeth, then I don't see the point of you being here" mom said.
Ok I'll be honest Apollo, Thalia, Annabeth and I were all spying on this conversation outside mom's tent.
"But he's not your son he's that stupid sea scum's spawn"
The next thing we heard was a hard slap, if you want to know one thing about my mom, it's that you don't call me a son of another being, except my birth mother, she lets that slide, everyone else though, well they get what Athena got or death. "If you ever call him the son of that wretched male ever again I don't care if you are our best strategist I will throw you into the void" mom stated, "I am his godly parent. I am the one who raised him since he was a baby not that scum"
I don't know if Athena was looking ashamed of herself or not but I'm most certain that she is rubbing her check. All I could hear was a huff and then Athena storming out of the tent as the four of us all scrambled to not get caught spying.

Mom walked out shortly thereafter, only for Athena to walk into a tent she summoned for herself. "Well she still has problems" Apollo stated
"What are you going to do? talk to her" mom asked
"Gods no she'll stab me at the moment" Uncle Apollo replied, hmmm I guess he does has a few brain cells remaining after all
"Is she seriously going to be that stubborn for the remainder of the mortal school year" Annabeth asked
"It's most likely at this point" mom responded, "maybe you should talk to her"
When lady Artemis suggested I speak to my mom I sighed. Honestly it's not a talk I want to have. Mainly because one, I discovered that I'm not only bisexual, but also want a polygamous relationship with Percy and Thalia. And two, because Percy's nature of being is incredibly confusing that I just stick with what he and Lady Artemis say and that that Poseidon was effectively only a sperm donor or rapist, depends on which of the two you ask. However my mother refuses to recognize what she use to recognize, and that is that Percy is lady Artemis's son and not anyone else's.
"So" lady Artemis asked
I sighed, "I'll talk to her. And see what her problem is"
"Are you sure. I'll go with you" Thalia said
"I'll do it myself, Thalia" I said heading off to my mothers tent in a mixture of emotions ranging from anger at her, confusion on her change of opinion, and disappointment that she's making a scene in front of my two significant others.
However before I entered I heard Thalia ask Percy why he didn't offer to go with me and his response was saying that Athena hates him right now, so it probably wasn't the best idea. Well at least he has a brain unlike his uncle, well our uncle since Apollo is mom's half brother after all.
I knocked on my mom's tent to get her attention, "WHAT" she yelled, "WANT TO EMBARRASS ME IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN EVEN MORE SISTER"

"Mom your embarrassing yourself at the moment" I deadpan, "can I come in"
She opened the tent door and guided me in, "what is it daughter"
"You" I stated
"Me" she asked, making it sound like I was in the insane one
"Yes. You mother" I stated trying to keep tears out of my eyes
"Well whatever could I have ever done" she questioned
"Why do you insist that Percy is Poseidon's son" I questioned, "The only person who is agreeing with you on that statement is Poseidon himself"
"Because he"
"WHY DON'T YOU ASK HIM HOW HE FEELS ABOUT POSEIDON?" I questioned, breaking down and starting to let the tears flow, "SERIOUSLY MOTHER. PERCY HATES POSEIDON JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE THAN YOU"
"Inconceivable" mother stated
"Really then ask him. Or are you forgetting his first, technically second summer at camp, when he spent a bunch of time cursing at Poseidon after Peter was claimed" I said, "or are you afraid of admitting that you were wrong and that your momentary change of opinion was a stupid one and you don't want to seem weak by going back on it"
I saw my mom flinch a bit at the end, "so that's it. You just don't want to admit you had a momentary lack of judgment by reacting on emotions instead of logic and reason as you claim is the only way to act"
"Daughter, I still don't approve of him for you"
"Really after everything him and I have been through already. Killing the Furies, Medusa, Echidna and the Chimera together. Traveling through the sea of monsters, forcing himself to listen to the siren's song just so I wouldn't have to listen to it, and risk my sanity. The weight of the sky for Hades's sake. Seriously mom he's probably the best thing for me"
"Then what about him dating Thalia"
"What about it" I asked
"He's cheating on you" mom stated
Look I love my mom but somethings, even if they were more common place during the ancient times, she just doesn't like or understand I guess. Artemis is the same way but at least she's accepting and being supportive of our choices.
"He's not cheating, mom. I'm dating Thalia as well mother. It's a three way relationship" I said
"I don't understand"
"You don't have to. Nor do I expect you to. All I want is that you support my choices as I am happy with them, both of them"
"But"
"Just know I'm happy mother. That should be enough for you" I stated with a slight glare in her direction
"Fine" she pouted like a five year old. I swear I am starting to question how the gods remained in power for so long.
"Now will you stop acting like Hera does to children of Zeus, that aren't by her, and actually help" I asked
"I will"
"Good" I said standing up to drag my mother out of her tent, "I prefer not being monster chow, anyways and we've lost valuable training time with you being stubborn"
"I am not stubborn" she said, as I pulled her out of the tent
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, mother" I said running off to Percy and Thalia to give them a hug, and get comfort from their embrace.
"It's alright" Percy whispered
"We love you" Thalia said
"Even if my mother will never understand this relationship and question us constantly" I asked them
"That's her not you" Percy said
"You wouldn't have a problem if I accidentally sent some lightning her way right" Thalia asked
"I heard that" mother said
"Well don't question me about my choice in romance" Thalia responded
Mom sighed, "come on you three you need spear training"
"We need more than that to fight the Titan lord" Percy said
"Yeah but we are starting with spears" mom finalized, with Lady Artemis struggling not to laugh with Apollo behind her losing all of his composure. Ah my poor uncle has lost the few remaining brain cells he had apparently.

World governments raced to find and eradicate the abilities and those who possess them while using the media to rule by fear. Whereas corporations sought to exploit the abilities for profit. Raz Owens was living the dream - a rising star at a job he enjoys, a girlfriend he loves, but it all comes crashing down when Raz disregards his late father's advice. He is pulled into a chaotic underworld of clandestine labs, shadow organizations, and super-powered criminals. Used as a human test subject in a place where few survive the day, he must last long enough to escape. His only advantage? A power that seems nearly useless—a heads-up display. Contains: monsters, violence, death, dismemberment, gamelit, superpowers, superpower consequences, good guys, bad guys, good guys who might be bad guys, bad guys who think they are good guys, good guys that might go bad, bad guys that might turn good, guns for hire, competence, incompetence, continence, incontinence, conspiracies, and some of what I just said wasn't true. This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.
