《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 6

"I think that is enough for today children" Chiron stated, after the door to the big house closed, "we will reconvene tomorrow to determine who goes on and who leads the quest"
I wanted to protest and say we should still seek council from Lady Ariadne first, but the only two who weren't up and on the way out were Thalia and Annabeth.
"Geez I don't have much hopes on our chances, if they can't stay up to plan" Thalia stated
"That's why the planning should be left to me or are you forgetting the training we have been going throw" Annabeth questioned
"Yeah yeah" Thalia waved her hand as both of them got up to leave, "Just point me at something and tell me how it dies, I know" she finished dismissing Annabeth as they left.
"We should really consult Lady Ariadne" I stated to the old trainer of heroes, and my namesake.
"Or talk to Theseus" Perseus suggested
"He would have died if not for Ariadne's interference" I stated, "That place is designed...it's meant to confuse you...demigods more so than others"
"There's no need to be so hostile to him"
"you know out of all of the male heroes of old there's only one that my mother even remotely tolerates right" I asked him
"No really who" Perseus asked excitedly hoping to find out.
"I swear" I mumbled to myself, as I got up to leave, "If this quest is successful it will likely because we consult Ariadne or not" I stated clearly before leaving heading to my own cabin, but not before noticing Clarisse coming out of the basement of the big house.
"Wanna talk about it" I asked
"Like you would know" She stated angrily
"You love him don't you" I asked
"Who"
"Chris" I said, "the boy you found"
"Don't you dare mention it to anyone"
"What? That the daughter of Ares has a heart?" I questioned, "You know, if it is matters of the heart that are worrying you, maybe consult with Selena in private. It certainly beats talking to her mother" I advised
She looked at me angrily before punching me in the shoulder running off to her cabin, as I continued my now boring walk to my mother's, wondering if Clarisse does love Chris or not.

As I said it was boring at least until we reconvened at the big house the next morning. The councilors have seemingly thought over most of what was discussed, and was arguing about who should lead the quest.
I, however, was just sharpening one of my knives, because I just have a gut feeling that this is not my quest to lead. Firstly, because I don't know much about the labyrinth other than it being a place to go and die of confusion, and secondly I just don't want to lead this quest.
Thalia seemed to pick up the same way of thought sharpening her spear, while Clarisse was ignoring the arguing sharpen her spear having already stated her discontent to even return to the labyrinth, through her outburst.
While many of the councilors thought they were fit to lead the quest, I only thought that there were two people who could lead this quest, and one of those two refuses to return there. The other is Annabeth, mainly because of her wit would be a nice add on, especially if she limits her hubris which she has been doing well on that.
They were probably arguing for a half an hour before Chiron had enough and put an end to their debate, "CHILDREN ENOUGH" he yelled stomping his hooves to get their attention, "We shall hold a vote for who leads the quest. If you would like to lead put your hand up"
Surprise surprise, all who were arguing raised their hand, though a few were shocked by Clarisse Thalia and I not raising our hands. After that Chiron started the vote, and the others voted for themselves, leaving Thalia, Clarisse and myself.
"I'm voting the same way as Percy. He knows you all better than I do" Thalia said
"I vote for Annabeth" Clarisse said, "She knows the labyrinth better than the rest of you that want to lead"
The others turned to look at me, since I technically held two votes, and would determine who leads the quest, " I vote for Annabeth" I said, which some of the councilors claimed I was biased for voting that way, and it shouldn't count, but Chiron and Perseus said it did count, so they were overruled.

"Annabeth why don't you go get a prophecy from the oracle" Chiron suggested, ironically the same time that Rachel came out of her room Annabeth went up to the oracle.
"Are you all done and can I goto my classes now" she asked, slightly annoyed as she was technically partially captive, for now.
"Yes you can go" Perseus stated, to which Rachel ran out.
"Wait why was she here" Lee asked
"I thought she already left for her classes. I guess I was mistaken" Chiron stated
"Are we sure we can trust her" Lee questioned looking at Peter
"Yes, I'm telling you she's mortal" Peter defended
Lee scoffed at that and left. "What's wrong with him" Thalia asked
"about a quarter of his siblings didn't return. He's just having trust issues is all" Selena said
We were waiting for Annabeth to comeback from the oracle silently although I just have a feeling Peter is going to try and sabotage this somehow.
Annabeth finished walking down and she looked like she seen a ghost. Chiron though was immediate to the action asking what the prophecy was...though Annabeth didn't look comfortable.
"You shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze" she started, well that's fairly obvious follow the dark path in the labyrinth, though I hadn't yet shared my thoughts.
"The dead, the traitor, and the lost one raise"
"well that doesn't sound good. It sounds like Hades is going to try to put a stop to the quest" Katie said
"Or he has a few souls that escaped and are looking to overthrow him" I stated, "though the lost one is the God Pan"
"what" Most around the table yelled, "He is dead though"
"No he's not" I said, "during the quest this winter to rescue Lady Artemis, My sister and the satyr Grover, felt his presence. And him being in the Labyrinth would make sense as to why he hasn't been found yet" I stated, though many of the councilors thought I was crazy
"Look Percy and I felt it too though we aren't certain what it was other than that it was nature related" Thalia said in defense.
"We should get back to the prophecy" Chiron stated, which got a nod from Annabeth.
"You shall rise by the ghost king's hand" Annabeth continued, I immediately thought of Nico as him being a son of Hades, he could claim that title and would be a safer bet than a stranger.
"The child of Athena's Final stand" Annabeth said though I know what she was think that her time has come. Though, prophecies don't work that way. If uttered to the receiver it is always you not one of your titles. So Annabeth is likely going to lose a sibling
"Destroy with a Hero's final breath" likely Annabeth's sibling
"And Hermes loses a son to worse than death" She finished
"Well who's going" Chiron asked
"I suggest Grover and Nico at the very least" I said, "Though this quest should have more"
"Blasphemy" Perseus said
"Three is a sacred number" Chiron stated
"And so is six" I countered, which drew many gasps of shock, at the 'blasphemy' I speak
"A hero is only allowed" Chiron started
"yeah yeah yeah two companions we know. This winter we had five, technically four, turned one of the four around midway through, then picked up Annabeth and nearly lost my sister, and all it cost me was revealing who my sperm donor was" I said, "six will work. six is more sacred than three as there will be two groups. Pan needs to be found and we need to get to the string before the titan lord and his forces get it" I answered.
They were looking at me like I was crazy, and I very well might be. I mean I was raised by a group of girls, who according to Dionysius and Apollo are borderline insane, though I don't think my sister are insane, they are just different from the status quo, which is good.
"Annabeth" Chiron asked
"Alright I'll take Percy, Nico, Grover, Thalia, and" She paused for a moment to think
"Take me" Peter said, trying to sound flirtatious
"I would rather go alone than bring you" Annabeth stated, "And I'll bring Tyson" she said having thought hard about it.

It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
