《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 15: Dumb and Dumber

So. Ummmm. Yeah...I blacked out until I landed. And for once dreamed of Absolutely nothing.
Landed where you may ask, though? Well I don't know yet. I landed in the water, which woke me up.
And Holy Hera everything hurts.
I tried to swim to what land I could see, but my body literally just went nope, we are on vacay until the system is repaired.
So I just drifted to shore...and laid there...face down in the sand.
I heard a light gasp, before the movement of feet over sand replaced it.
"Relax hero" I heard someone who oddly sounded like Zoë, but wasn't, say, "I'll take care of you"
...
...
...
I swear whatever god decided to help me get here I have an arrow with your name on it and a six foot deep hole for you to rest in. Please contact me via Iris message so I know where to send it, and your corpse.
And yes I know I'm on Calypso's island. And no I don't hate her or dislike her. She's just my adoptive sister's sister and well this is gonna be hella awkward, I think.
I tried getting up...key word tried, though, Calypso rushed over and put a cool rag on my head. "Shhh. It's ok hero. Rest. No harm shall come to you here"
"I'll be fine just leave me out in the light for a few hours" I mumbled, "and maybe a little Nectar and Ambrosia will help"
I could tell Calypso was rolling her eyes at my resistance to rest. But I had plenty of time to do that when I was in flight. "You need rest" she stated firmly but left.
A few minutes later, she returned, a little stunned to see that I've turned myself over so I'm on my back. Though she sighed and spoon fed me Ambrosia and Nectar.
"Thanks Calypso" I said, as I felt some of my energy return to me and my injuries beginning to heal at a better pace.
She however gasped and dropped her flask, "how...how do you know"
"Well, for one: a strange island I land near, when I should be dead. Two, a girl with a voice that reminds me of my significant annoyance, I call sister. Three, the whole hero thing...despite not knowing me. And finally the ambrosia and nectar" I answered

"You're...you're a son of Atlas" she stuttered
I began laughing like a maniac, and well I think she thinks I lost it. "Oh Hera no. He's not my sperm donor. Though I am the adopted brother of one of your sisters. The one that no longer lives there" I said after calming down from the few minutes of laughter I had.
"Zoë" Calypso questioned
"Bingo" I answered
"So you won't stay or fall for me" Calypso said, sounding a little depressed. But still leaned back over to me to give me another spoon full of nectar.
"No" I answered, "I won't"
She seemed a little upset about it though. And I don't blame her. I mean the curse she lives with isn't a nice one, and definitely not just for the 'crime' she 'committed'.
"Then why are you here"
"I don't know why sis"
"Sis" she questioned
"Well you're Zoë's sister and Zoë is my sister. Thus you are my sister as well" I explained, "well unless you're like the rest of the family who disowned her, then I am wrong"
"I'll allow it" she stated, though she didn't seem happy about it. "I suppose you are looking to leave then"
"Yes"
Calypso sighed, "a raft should arrive sometime tonight. You can leave in the morning after breakfast" she said
"Thank you for your hospitality Calypso" I said, "I'll see what I can do for your release"
"You mean it"
"I promise nothing, but I will talk to the gods about it. I'm sure you're already well aware of how stubborn they can be"
Calypso let out a light chuckle, despite the thunder that accompanied my statement. "Dinner will be ready in a few hours. Just head to the cave off to your right when you can. Otherwise I'll bring a plate out here for you" she said getting up and leaving to her cave.
I'll admit Calypso is by definition beautiful, as most immortal woman are. But she's not really my type, and I view her as more of a sister than something else because of Zoë. Though I don't know how she views me, but I feel that the curse is still taking its toll on her.
So it's been a few hours of me basking in the light of my uncle and the sun is starting to set, "PERSEUS DINNER" Calypso yelled from her cave.

I groaned moving to sit up, everything still hurts but it's bearable atleast. Though some will say I'm insane because I'm pretty sure I still have multiple fractures in my right leg as I'm using it to walk...in pain but ehh I have a quest to get back to...and probably angry family members.
Calypso walked out and saw me limping to her cave and shook her head at me before walking back in. I made it about half way before she came back out with a crutch and she marched up to me. "YOU NEED REST" She yelled in my ear after she gave me the crutch.
"I can rest when I'm dead or immortal, but for now I have a camp to save and a quest to complete. Which I cannot do from here"
"Stupid stubborn gods and passing it down onto their kids" she grumbled. But I don't think she meant for me to hear her
She pulled aside whatever material she was using for a door, my best guess is some sort of cloth material but I don't know enough about that.
I saw the dinner spread which surprisingly had some new world food like potatoes, as well as stuff from back in Ancient Greece. And well she made stake and fries. She's trying to win my heart.
She sat me down and told me to dig in. I ate it and it was good, not Hestia good, but still good
"I appreciate the bribery of food but I can't stay Calypso. I'm already in a committed relationship and I wasn't raised to cheat on those I'm in a relationship with"
Calypso sighed, "usually food alway gets them to stay longer"
"I understand it's lonely here. I mean I can't imagine life with out my sisters, even if they try annoying me to death on occasion, but I'm not the man for you. I view you more as a sister than anything else and I'll try to have you freed but"
"The gods are stubborn and you can't guarantee it"
"Exactly"
"But what harm can come from staying a couple of days" she asked
"A lot. I don't know how long I've been flying. And I care about my family. I don't want to see them harmed when there's something I could have done...well except Peter and a certain sea god but that's besides the point"
"You can go now if you want" calypso sighed, "the raft is here"
"So you don't want me to stay for breakfast now" I questioned
She looked thankful at that, "thanks for remembering that" she said
"It's the least I can do. But I will be taking my leave after that" I said as we finished up dinner and I made my way outside.
"Where are you going to sleep" she asked
I just pulled out my tent and set it up. "In here" I replied, "I don't want to intrude"
Thankfully, Calypso abided by my wishes for me to stay in my tent. And when I woke up in the morning the raft was still there but so was Apollo, Hephaestus, and Hermès.
"Hell uncle Hephaestus" I said ignoring the other two
"Yo nephew did you tap" Apollo started to ask
I slapped him on the backside of his head, "no you dimwit. I was raised by your older twin sister. Not you or your father"
"Ohhh that's got hurt Polly" Hermès replied, only for me to slap him upside the head too.
"Uncle Hephaestus why are you here with dumb and dumber"
"I'm dumb" Apollo and Hermès said at the same time before they started fighting each other.
"Well they just followed me and I came to warn you Annabeth told your mother and now Artemis and the hunt are threatening to kill the others and well...we kinda need you back to quell your mother's rage and so she doesn't kill me for sending you to my forge"
"And Dumb and dumber"
"To escape her wrath"
I groaned, "did they head back to camp"
"Yes but they haven't arrived back yet" Hephaestus answered, "and thanks for clearing my forge of those demons. I've also updated my security there and in my other forges so it'll be harder for them to break in"
"No probs uncle" I responded as calypso delivered two plates of pancakes out here for Hephaestus and myself. "Thanks Caly"
"My name is Calypso" She responded before heading back to her cave.
Hephaestus and I ate, watching Apollo and Hermès fight.
After I finished, I shouted bye to Calypso before jumping on the raft and heading back to Camp Half-Blood, while Hephaestus sat on the beach watching Hermès and Apollo still fight.

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.

Sick - An Irondad Story
"I looked over at my usually gallant father, who had dried tears streaking his face. I felt awful, not because I was in pain, but because I made my father heartbroken. I never wanted him to feel this pain." Or, Peter's battle with a terminal illness that will destroy so much more than himself. This was a school project, so I had to cut some real MCU things out, but other then that the names stay the same. 06/20/2022 AN: Hey guys. This story is five years old at this point. That's pretty crazy. While I have moved on to other fandoms in that time, it's great to see people interacting with this. I'm not sure how well it holds up, especially with Creep by Radiohead being in it (idk what I was thinking lmfaoo), but I'm glad to see that some people still enjoy it. Have a good one. :)
