《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 25

As I'm a hunter I don't necessarily have armor. But I did have my hunting outfit which is better than mortal clothes but worse than a breastplate for protection. I prefer maneuverability anyway.
I check my weapons, Riptide could use a little sharpening, Blackbeard's cutlass was fine but was a little dull for my preference, the rest of my gear was in good condition. I sighed. My preferred weapon of choice needed work, but I don't have the time to maintain it. I left both my swords back as I would prefer making them better before making them worse.
I head out of my cabin to join Clarisse and the others at the Labyrinth entrance. It was noticed that I didn't have my swords, but none commented on it. They knew I was proficient in other weaponry. The other cabins started flowing in as well taking up defensive positions.
"Percy Thalia" Annabeth yelled
I went to where I heard her voice and saw both, "yes wise girl" I ask
"You two should take point. Use your shields to break apart the front line and then we can move in with a counter"
I liked her plan. It would definitely work. But fear tactics only work for so long.
"It's a good start but what should we do after they reorganize" I asked
"We will need everything we can. You two will have to use your powers, and I mean all your powers. If we can keep them off balanced and disorganized we should be able to push them back for a long time"
"But wouldn't they just endlessly come" Thalia asked
I knew it was the case, if they defeated us here they would have a clear path to Olympus, they wouldn't be keeping any reserve to defend their palace.
"We'll think of something" Annabeth said but it sounded like she was trying to reassure herself.
Thalia and I nodded, and gave Annabeth a hug. We knew we were in the most dangerous place, but we also knew that only a few besides us will be able to survive it.
"NICO I SAID NO GET IN THE BACK WITH THE YOUNGER CHILDREN" I heard Bianca shout
"Shall we go help our cousin" I asked
"Go. Both of you" Annabeth said, "I love you"
"Love you too wise girl" Thalia and I responded, which drew a blush from her.
I'll admit we usually weren't open in camp with our relationship, but this might be a last. Battles are never a guarantee.

Thalia and I ran to Nico and Bianca. "Nico I said no head back" Bianca plead
"Bi you have to let go of him eventually" I said
"He's still my little brother"
"I'm aware" I said, as Thalia was sneaking Nico out. "You're forgetting I have a group of the pantheon's most deadly women as my older sisters. I know if they could choose they wouldn't allow me to fight despite training me to"
"But"
"It's hard to see the ones you love risking their lives when you know it should be you" I said. "It's nothing to be ashamed of. It is only natural being a child of Hades, a child of one of the big three. It is natural to want to put those you care about behind you to face the dangers yourself as you feel responsible because of the power you possess"
"Why are you so damn philosophical and family oriented"
"Milady Hestia most probably" I replied, "now will you let Nico do what is natural of him to want to do"
Bianca sighed, "I suppose I have too"
"Good now let's go join him and Thalia on the front" I said, and Bianca looked around
"You bastard, you tricked me" she scolded lightly
"He did a good job helping destroy the Titan's palace" I replied trying to defend myself
Bianca rolled her eyes before dragging me off to Thalia
Nico hid behind Thalia like he wasn't there, "it's fine Nico" Bianca said, "but if you die I don't care what father says I'm bringing you back just to kill you myself"
Nico gulped and nodded rapidly. If there's one universal truth that I will attest to it's that older sisters can be really scary when they want to be, especially in my family tree
We didn't have to wait long before the Labyrinth opened up. As soon as the first monsters came out Thalia and I activated our shields causing them to turn and run straight back in.
A momentary victory that allowed our lines to go on alert and be ready.
Monsters started coming back out, "ARCHERS. FIRE" Thalia shouted, and a hail storm of arrows started flying over our head. I took out my bow and started firing as well.
I know we wouldn't be able to keep this suppression fire forever. We will run out of arrows eventually.
As predicted the arrows ran dry, so we cousins started using our powers. Even Peter, I honestly thought he died already, I'm truly impressed he's survived this long in battle

The monsters weren't making much progress, but that's when one of the few monsters I fear arrived, and just to put the whipping cream on top, she couldn't be killed quickly by our powers. Kampê arrived finally leading the charge. I would honestly prefer a titan right about now.
As soon as Kampê came in that's when the monsters finally broke out of the bottle neck and started engaging the other campers. Thalia, Bianca, Nico, Peter and myself were forced to engage with Kampê.
Tyson tried helping, but he was busy fighting four other Cyclops and other monsters that decided to join in
Kampê though seemed like she was rushing. Trying to defeat us before we could get reinforcements to help fight her. You would think a 1 v 5 is an unfair fight. Especially when the five is five children of the big three and one of those five being the adopted son of Artemis and the champion of Hestia, the eldest goddess.
You would be right in most circumstances. But Kampê is one of the monstrous children of Gaea and Tartarus. Honestly, I would prefer fighting her brother, Python, even though he scares the crap out of Uncle Apollo. I could only think at least we're not fight Typhoon.
Kampê was pressing us hard using her scimitars with a skill I haven't seen before. Now would be the perfect time to have my two swords but I left them behind. So I was like Thalia using shield and spear. Kampê took a swing which I deflected off with my shield and attempted to stab or even just nick her arm but by the time my stroke arrived she was already attacking another.
"We need to work together" I shouted
"Oh ya think" Thalia said, striking Kampê with a blast of lightning
"We aren't doing anything we need the gods" Peter argued
I swear this boy is dumber than Heracles. The gods are just as reliable as heroes most days. I got an idea though, "THALIA TOGETHER ON THREE" I shouted I hope she understood.
Kampê took a swing to my head but I rolled to dodge and came closer to Thalia, "one" I said, and charged my spear with lightning. I honestly hope this works. It will rely on Nico and Bianca though.
Kampê continue the attack on me towards Thalia, who dived and came back up next to me, "two" she said, charging her spear.
Kampê's second blade was now coming at us as she was turning to face us. We ducked, and I think I had a little taken off the top. "Three" Thalia and I said together and sent both lightning bolts at Kampê.
Halfway there the bolts collided combining into one bolt and slammed straight into Kampê at center mass. It stunned her heavily, maybe even momentarily paralyzed her.
Bianca and Nico seemed to catch on and started using their powers to open up a hole to the underworld. The crack started forming in the grounded and slowly started widening until Kampê was doing a full split.
Though Nico and Bianca were sweating heavily, and were barely remaining conscious. I sighed knowing what needed to be done. I started summoning water and sending it Kampê's feet, hopefully losing the soil and causing it to be more slippery. Peter caught on and appeared to be trying the same thing, but was only able to cause one stream on one side.
It wasn't a bad idea, but I knew he would try taking credit for all three water streams.
Kampê, began to fall on the side Peter and I were working on. Thalia sent another blast of lightning at Kampê's legs, probably hoping to cause a spasm or twitch to get her to fall.
I don't know if it was Thalia's lightning, a last ditch effort from Nico and Bianca, or Peter and I wetting the soil, but the little ground Kampê had a grip on gave way, and she began to fall. She quickly moved her swords out and took a stab into the ground to try and save herself.
Gravity, however, is a bitch to all and didn't care. The battle tired Kampê out and she continued falling, losing her grip on her swords.
As soon as Kampê fell through the ground closed up leaving a giant crack. The DiAngelo siblings, who had already fell to their knees to open the hole to hell, face planted into the ground. And Peter well he too face planted, rather dramatically if you ask me. Hopefully grandpa won't be to mad that his nephew is trying to steal the drama queen title.
I noticed all the sudden a bunch of rocks started flying and taking out monsters. This caused Grover to scream. And it was a scream I have never heard before nor wish to hear again. I guess the monsters felt the same way as they all retreated into the Labyrinth.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
