Weeks passed, and we all got the hang of things. Jack sat with me on the bus on the way to school, and Ellie on the way home. Finn and I became closer and closer, and I developed a big crush on him. We were so similar, and I felt like he really understood me. Jack insisted we were meant to be together and did everything in his power to keep us near each other. October rolled around, and the air began to cool. We were working on a project in college prep involving designing the "perfect" school. That class was so pointless, but I had Jack and Finn to make it fun. Luckily, they were my partners for the project.
"We should have sleeping rooms in the school. With no security cameras," Jack suggested. I was sketching a layout of what the school was coming to be using colored pencils.
"That's stupid. You can't just miss class to sleep. Plus, the beds would be gross and dirty," I argued. Finn nodded in agreement.
"No, we could clean the beds every week. It's a good idea," he insisted.
"Jack, do you not see a problem with unsupervised beds with no security cameras?" Finn asked.
"Yeah. Kids would like, do stuff," I added.
"Yes, they would do stuff. Like sleep!" He exclaimed, knocking my colored pencils all over the floor. Unfortunately for me, the bell rang.
"See you tomorrow," Finn said before leaving the room. Jack followed him out. I had to stay behind and clean up the colored pencils, and by the time I finished and got outside, the bus was long gone. "Great. I have to walk" I thought. It was about 50 degrees out and I didn't have a jacket. I sadly began my hike home, my backpack weighing heavily on my shoulders.

"Wait up!" I heard someone call from behind me. I heard the rolling of wheels to my left, and a moment later Jack rolled up next to me on a skateboard. He pulled to a stop and hopped off.
"What are you doing here?" I asked. He got out of the classroom in time to get on the bus.
"I knew you'd miss the bus because I knocked over the pencils, so I decided to walk with you!"
"Thanks so much. Also where did you get the skateboard."
"I always keep a spare in my backpack! I'm a skateboarder, nothing can stop me. Except pebbles. Pebbles are my kryptonite." He explained. I cracked up.
"You're funny." We linked arms and kept walking. The wind picked up and I began to shiver.
"Here, have my sweatshirt. I'm hot anyways. In two ways," he winked, taking off his hoodie and handing it to me. It smelled like the cheap cologne Jack always used.
"I missed hanging out with you. You know? Just you and me. We were such a duo," I confessed. We only saw each other at school together lately.
"Movies on Friday. Just us. Ok?" He told me.
"Let's do it," I confirmed. We continued to walk, talking about random things. I missed being with Jack. He was the easiest person to talk to, and I never had to try around him. I dropped him at his house and returned home quickly.
Friday finally came after a rough week. Jack and Ellie had a fight and spent two long days refusing to talk to each other. Jack decided to get drunk the night of the fight, came to school hungover, and failed his algebra test. Basically this week sucked, but the thought of my friday movie night kept me going. I boarded the bus in a good mood Friday morning, but that would be short lived. Jack took his usual seat next to me, and we discussed our evening plans.

"We have two options for tonight. We can go to the movies at the theater and shit and watch Infinity War, or we can go to my place and watch 16 Candles like old times," he asked me. When we were little, we watched 16 Candles every Friday night. It used to be our ritual, after school we'd take the bus to Jack's house and make popcorn and watch the movie.
"Your house. It's our tradition," I decided.
"What's your tradition? Something about a movie I hear?" Ellie, who had just came on the bus, asked us. Oh god. Ellie better not ruin our night.
"Just a thing with me and Jack. It's nothing really," I try and tell her.
"Bullshit. You're going to the movies aren't you?" She insisted. I groaned to myself. "Jack, can I come? Please? You don't want to make me mad, do you?" Ellie said to Jack, making a sad face and biting her lip. I knew Jack couldn't say no to her. Not after their recent fight.
"I guess you could come... we were going to see Infinity War at 8 tonight," Jack said reluctantly. Of course, Jack wouldn't want to reveal his sappy romantic side, so he opted for infinity war.
"Can I come?" Finn asked, joining us and sliding into the seat next to Ellie. If Finn came it wouldn't be so bad. I wanted an alone night with Jack but this would have to do.
"Yeah, movies at 8. Bring the good stuff!" Jack said. I could tell Jack was thoroughly more excited now that Finn was coming. Ellie and I alone with him would have been hell, and he knew that.
"He can't bring alcohol to the movies Jack. Chill," I scolded him. Finn agreed. The bus stopped and we got out, all walking towards school together.
"See you later," Finn said, and him and Ellie walked away.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.
