•••••••Iris' POV•••••••
"Iris, did you hear about the football team?" Kayla asks. "Yeah, they won against the Panthers which they consider their 'arch enemies'." I reply.
"Well yeah, it's a big win for them, it's their first time winning against them. I heard they were throwing a party to celebrate." Kayla says, grinning. "So?" I look at her, dumbfounded. "We should go!" She exclaims.
I laugh, "What makes you think we'll even get an invite?" I raise an eyebrow. "It's Terrence who's throwing the party." She answers, wiggling her eyebrows.
I freeze a bit, "T-that doesn't mean anything." I say, crossing my arms. "Oh really?" She cocks an eyebrow, smirking. I nod firmly. "I bet you ten dollars he's gonna ask you first." She says. "Psh, that won't happen." I shake my head, chuckling.
"Hey Iris," I freeze again hearing his voice, I turn to face him, "If you're not busy later, would you come to the party later? I'm sure you already heard about it." He asks, smiling. "Uh...uh-"
"She would love to." Kayla answers for me.
"This doesn't mean I'm the first person he asked." I whisper to her, seeing her grin.
"Who else did you invite so far?" Kayla asks. "So far, only Iris." He answers, nervously.
I glance at Kayla who's grinning ear to ear. I pull out a $10 bill and hand it to her which she greatly accepts.
"Kayla, are you coming also?" Terrence asks her. "Definitely." Kayla smiles.
"Ugh, don't tell me you invited these two." We hear Chad groan, walking up behind Terrence. I forget that he's the football captain. "So what if I did?" Terrence replies. Chad sighs, "If you want your party to be lame, invite them, be my guest, but I warned you." He says, walking off.
"Sorry about him, I'll make sure he won't bother you at the party." Terrence assures us, smiling politely. "Well, see you around." He says before walking away to invite other students.
I look over at Kayla who's still grinning. "Stop that." I glare at her. She just snickers.
*************
"So, he invited you first?" Ross repeats, looking at me. I nod sheepishly. "Ooooooo, he must like you!" Lucas shouts. "No duh, Captain Obvious." Adam says, shaking his head.
"Did she freeze while talking to him?" Lucas asks. "Like a deer in headlights." Kayla replies, grinning.
"Are you guys going to the party later too?" I ask the boys, ignoring Kayla and Lucas. "Eh..maybe," Adam replies. "We might just crash it," Ross shrugs. I chuckle. Typical Ross.
"Hey Oliver, what's up with you?" Ross suddenly asks, causing us to turn our attention to Oliver. He's looking down at the table, lost in thought.
"Someone's jealous." Lucas smirks. Oliver snaps his head in his direction, "Am not!" He shouts.

"Are too!"
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Am not!"
"Are-"
"Guys, shut up!" Ross shouts, stopping the two from bickering any longer. Oliver sighs, "Sorry, I was just thinking about stuff," He apologizes. "Yeah right, you've been thinking about 'stuff' since your fight with The Reaper. What even happened?" Adam asks. "Nothing important." Oliver mutters.
I frown. Oliver has been acting strange since the fight...he hasn't told anyone why.
The bell rings, signaling the end of lunch. Oliver stands up quickly and leaves silently. We all share a worried glance.
*************
After telling Ms. Sullivan about the party and being picked up by Kayla, we drove off towards Terrence's house.
A while later, we stop outside his house and I cover my ears from the music blasting throughout the neighborhood.
"We heard this music three blocks away from here.." I mutter. Kayla giggles, "It's pretty cool though." She replies. I give her a weird look and she just laughs.
Kayla parks a bit further down due to no parking close to his house. "Kayla, you better not drink, you're my only ride out of here." I warn her, giving her the stink eye. "Wow, so you wouldn't be worried if some guy tried to lure me to a bedroom?" She asks, dramatically gasping. I simply shrug, earning another gasp and laugh from Kayla. "I won't drink anyway so you don't have to worry." She assures me.
We walk inside the house since the front door is already wide open. I see beer bottles scattered everywhere, people dancing...some dancing on each other, and, of course, people making out. Sounds like a typical high school party to me.
"I wanna leave now." I whine, looking at Kayla. "Iris." Kayla says in a warning tone. I sigh.
"Iris!" A familiar voice shouts. I look over to see Terrence who is walking over with a big smile. "You made it!" He adds. "Wouldn't miss it for the world.." I reply sarcastically, causing Kayla to elbow me in the ribs.
"Would you guys like something to drink?" Terrence asks. Kayla and I share a glance. "We're underage." She reminds him. "We all are," He laughs, "But I meant something other than beer." He says.
"Do you have soda?" Kayla asks after we share another glance. It's as if she's reading my mind. "Yeah, we have Pepsi, Sprite, Coke, Fanta, and others." He gives us our options. "I'll take a Fanta." Kayla says. "Sprite for me." I add, smiling.
He chuckles, "I'll be back in a minute. Go have fun you two, I'll find you when I have the drinks." He smiles, walking back into the kitchen.
"Are you sure we should be accepting drinks right now?" I ask Kayla, a bit paranoid. "I will only accept drinks from Terrence, you know he's not that type of person." Kayla reasons. I shrug, "I guess you're right."

"Lets go dance, Iris." Kayla suggests, smiling. "In front of everyone?" I ask, feeling my face heat up a bit. "C'mon Iris, just let loose this once." Kayla pleads. I bite my lip, thinking for a moment. "Alright, fine." I give in to her and she squeals, grabbing my arm and leading me towards the speakers.
We danced for a little while, getting attention from some people when we did the tango to a rap song but whatever. We're weird. Deal with it.
We look over to see Terrence laughing and holding cans of Fanta and Sprite. He hands us the soda we asked for, smiling wide. Kayla gulps hers down while I take a few hesitant sips.
Terrence bites his lip awkwardly, seeing me do this. "I hope you're enjoying yourselves so far." He says. Kayla nods, "The party is amazing!" She grins. "I'm glad you think so." He smiles at her and looks at me.
I guess he's waiting for a response. "I'm not really a party person," He frowns at this, "but this party is pretty cool." I admit, smiling at him. His smile reappears on his face. "Thanks," He replies.
The front door swings open abruptly and in steps three males. "What's up, f*ckers?!" Ross greets, shouting so everyone could hear, and grinning. Adam sighs, shaking his head. Lucas laughs hysterically.
Nobody seems phased and they keep doing what they're doing.
"This isn't the first time Ross has entered a party of mine like that." Terrence mutters, sighing softly.
"And that's how you crash a party." Ross finishes his explanation as we reach them. "You didn't really crash it though? I invited you." Terrence says. "Don't ruin my moment." Ross says quickly, his grin fading slightly. Kayla and I laugh, placing our cans of soda on the table beside us.
"Where's Oliver?" I ask, looking past the boys outside for him. "Don't worry princess, your knight in shining armor is coming." Lucas teased, wiggling his eyebrows. I shoot him a glare and he chuckles.
"Why do you want Oliver to be here?" Terrence asks. I jump a bit, forgetting he was there. "N-no reason. It's just that he's usually with them a-and he's not so I'm kinda worried.." I explain. "Okay..." he raises an eyebrow at me, "I'm gonna go make sure Chad isn't wasted." He announces before walking off.
Just as he walks into the next room, Chad comes bumping into the table beside us. "O-oh, s-sorry s-sir..." He mutters to the table, then walks away obviously drunk.
We all glance at each other before laughing hysterically. I pick up my drink from the table, realizing Chad almost knocked it down. I shrug, picking it up and chugging the rest of it down in one gulp.
**************
•••••Oliver's POV•••••
"Oh shit, Iris, are you okay?" I hear Ross ask as I stand outside the door of Terrence's house. What? I rush into the house to see Iris leaning on a table for support.
"What happened?" I ask once I get closer. "Oh, Oliver, we don't know what happened. Like fifteen minutes ago, she was completely fine...well, kinda more energetic then usual, and now she seems to be tired." Adam replies, crouching down near Iris.
I look down at the can in Iris' hand and bend down to grab it from her. "You think someone spiked it?" Kayla asks, looking up at me. I nod and look around at everyone else.
Addison and Chad are snickering in the far corner of the room. "Son of a bitch.." I mutter and begin to walk over when Adam grabs my arm. "We can deal with them later, Iris just passed out and you need to take her home." Adam tells me.
I groan. "Alright, fine. Are you guys leaving also?" I ask them. They all nod. "You can head outside now, I'll carry Iris to my car." I say.
Adam takes a worried Kayla by the hand and leads her outside after calming her down with a kiss on her forehead. Ross and Lucas follow after them.
I glance down at Kayla's drink she never finished. Probably spiked too... I pick it up and with one swift throw it lands all over Chad.
I quickly pick up Iris bridal style and hurry out of the house cautious to not hit her head against anything. I reach my car and lie her down in the back seat. I drive home slowly.
**************
Ruby and my mom are already sleeping when I get home. I'm not gonna say a word about this to them, they'd freak out...well, my mom would. Ruby wouldn't understand.
I carry Iris up to her room and lay her down in her bed. I take off her shoes for her and cover her with the blankets.
I sigh softly, sitting on the side of the bed. "You're such an idiot..." I run a hand through my hair, "...you really scared me.." First The Reaper...and now this..
I look over at Iris' sleeping figure. I try to resist, but I can't. I place a kiss on Iris' forehead. "Sleep well.." I whisper even though she can't hear me. Then I leave the room silently, closing the door behind me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heyo! I really like this chapter honestly, it's super cute, besides all the events at the party. This was supposed to come out yesterday but...let's just say, I was contemplating stuff and too distracted to update, but it's here now. Also, for people wondering about The Reaper, you'll just have to wait and see *wink wonk*
I Need Time
An action, adventure, mystery and strategy story about a strong male lead. Author note: First time author, good amount of buffer chapters (over 50k words) so I will not drop this book anytime soon. This book will mostly be from the perspective of the MC. On average +5k words will be published per week. I have not chosen some of the genres and tags as I do not wish to give away parts of the story. I added the content warning tags as there will come a time for profanities, gore and maybe "traumatising" content. Though, in my opinion the content will be mild if not light. *****SPOILER*****SPOILER***** Synopsis: A college ICT student transmigrates to another world filled with magic and learns magic from a dragon. MC uses modern knowledge to develop magitech technology. MC starts his adventure using the technology he develops! Saving princesses, fighting hidden criminal organizations, learning how horribly medieval peasants live, reasoning with uneducated narrow minded people, investigating the nature of magic and searching for gods... Story review: A fantasy/sci-fi story filled with some common cliches yet presents somewhat original ideas and a few unexpected twists & turns here and there. This novel also explores a few of the commonly ignored topics concerning medieval fantasy like hygiene, culture, education(ignorance, narrow mindedness) and the fact that everybody is short because magical crops cost too much. Modern knowledge in such a setting can often times revolutionize the world if the protagonist is not an idiot or weak willed or thinks something stupid like he should not intervene in a society that systematically practices unequality of opportunity, slavery and other nasty things, of course sometimes the protagonist can be just unlucky by being enslaved, etc. In our case we are granted a protagonist who had an initial stroke of luck, learning magic from a dragon instead of struggling for years without it or randomly dieing. After that his luck goes down the drain. It is arguable whether the princess is a good stroke of luck or not, I digress. Anyway the challenges the protagonist must face will grow and no more luck or helping hands. After gaining enough power and security the protagonist will change the world for the better or at least give it a stronge push onto the right track. He will make a lot of lives better but things are never so simple and there is much more to this world than meets the eye... Missing genres & tags: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Magic. *****SPOILER*****SPOILER*****
