《Battle Scars|✔️》The Grocery Store

Joseph Turner felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He looked at the caller and frowned. What could he possibly want now?
It was just me being paranoid.
It had to be. Why would Joseph be looking for me?
I didn't know and to quite honest I didn't want to find out. I never told anyone about him simply because I wanted to convince myself that I was imagining it.
It was Saturday and Dad was leaving for a business trip
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay?" He asked for the millionth time. I sighed and repeated my previous answer. "I'm gonna be fine. You'll be back by Monday and I'll have the boys with me." He hesitated. "Okay...but if you need anything and I mean anything have Alex or Hayden call me okay?"I nod. "I love you Thea. Be good for the boys." I smile up at my dad
"I love you too dad, I'll be good." He kissed my cheek and then he left. Alex put a hand on my shoulder. "You me and Drew are going grocery shopping." I looked at him curiously
"Drews coming?" Alex nods "He's grounded so he wants to get out of the house as much as possible." I giggle and Alex tells me to go get ready.
Once we were in the car it was slightly awkward. Alex attempted to make small talk with his brother but Drew was having none of it and replied with one word answers each time. Eventually Alex gives up and we drive in silence. When we get there, Alex sends me and Drew on a mission to find eggs
"Drew don't lose her please." Alex pleads tiredly. "I can manage to keep and eye on a 9 year old for 10 minutes jeez." He grumbles as if he can't imagine why Alex is reluctant to trust him.

With that, Alex goes off to find his items while me and Drew set off in search of our lost treasure. Of all my brothers I have bonded with Drew the least, he's usually out with friends or avoiding the whole family. At first neither of us said a thing but I guess Drew got sick of the silence because he started a conversation
"So school starts in a few weeks you know." He said not meeting my eyes. "I forgot school existed." I giggled more to myself than Drew. "Ya know you're gonna be in the same school as me and the twins." I looked at him confused."But you're in high school and I'm gonna be in 4th grade." He smirked at me. "It's a private school that goes from kindergarten to 12th grade."
my mouth goes into an 'O' shape. "Is us being there a good thing?" Drew asked with that same smirk on his face. "Yeah!" I exclaimed. Drews smirk turns into a genuine smile. "I'm glad." His voice is uncharacteristically soft but I don't mind it one bit.
We got our eggs and made our way back to Alex. The whole time we were out, I made sure to stay very close to one of my brothers. Just in case.
We went home and ate dinner and watched a movie. It was actually a really good night. It was nice having all of the boys home at once.
It so rarely happens recently due to Alex and Hayden being busy with work and Drew and the twins being out with friends most of the time. Someone's always home with me but it was refreshing for everyone to spend time together.
I got sleepy halfway through the movie so Alex had me go to bed but at that point I was too tired to argue. I got dressed and brushed my teeth before sliding into my bed. Alex and Hayden both tucked me in with a kiss on the head, wishing me a good night.

I woke up a few hours later, with sweat covering my body and my breathing uncontrollable.
Joseph.
He had been haunting me for days now and without the usual comfort of Dad's bed, I felt utterly terrified. I jumped out of bed and ran to the closest room which happened to be Drews. I didn't think twice before diving into the bed beside my brother
"What the fuck? Thea is that you?" I didn't answer but instead moved my body closer to his
"What happened kiddo? Nightmare?" He asked wrapping his arms around me. I wordlessly nod into his chest
"It's okay. I've got you." He whispered.
I fell asleep cuddled up with the brother I would never expect to comfort me. The next morning I wake up in an empty bed remembering what happened last night. I go downstairs and see all the boys sitting at the table. "Morning baby." Hayden says setting a bowl of cereal in front of me
"Morning." I grumbled. I was still tired from the lack of sleep last night and in no mood to be my usual cheerful self. "Hey Thee you know you snore right?" Drew said with a smirk. I turned to look at him
"Nu uh." I protested. "Uh huh." he retorted childishly. I shrug. "Whatever helps you sleep at night." He scoffs. "Are you implying that I was the one snoring?" I fake gasp "I said no such thing." he playfully narrows his eyes at me."We'll see who really snores."
I laugh "You do that." He was about to respond but Alex cut in. "Alright enough you 2. Thea eat your breakfast." I begrudgingly do what he says. The rest of the day is long and boring but I did enjoy the time I spent with Drew. Things were looking good.
If only I knew then what I know now.

Peerless Hegemon
Warning: Can be quite tearjerking and depressing (or so others say). If you are weak to that and hates that kind of thing, then this story is not for you === Ye Feng lived two lives in one lifetime. First, he basked in the light of Righteousness, becoming an idol of peace and justice. Second, he trod the mired path of the Darkest Path, becoming an object of fear and death. One lifetime, Two Identities, countless experiences, still without purpose. A meaningless existence. An empty husk. In his selfishness of wanting to fill the void in him, he became the catalyst that destroyed Reality. He now controlled everything, ultimate power, uncontestable by none. But he cast it away, to be reborn anew. With a new name and a family, his goal was to understand, his place. To understand how to no longer feel empty. With his family consisting of a Reincarnated Twin Sister and Parents with inscrutable pasts, his desire was not that of grandeur. In this lifetime, he wishes not to hold power, not to gain eternal life, nor control of everything, he only wishes to live, and hopefully look at sunrise with a smile on his face. === Disclaimer: The story focuses on the Main Character’s emotional and personality growth. He is someone who is, obviously OP in some perspectives but almost crippled in others. He is not soft and does not spare anyone because it is “Bad” so expect that there would be genocide and some bloody encounters. I want this instead of just the MC’s search for life and its complication. Where Philosophy and values exist. A story where every action has proper consequences, and not everything can be conquered with a single punch (unless it can be, no need for an unnecessary complication if it can be avoided). Further Notes: This is a story that will gradually increase in word counts and become Chunkier as it progresses and will almost never be below 2000 words, but if the word count will only lengthen the chapter at the expense of a finished tale, it could and would be cut off before 2000 mark), give it a try, it won’t disappoint (I hope). And if by chance that you like it, giving a good Rating and Review will be encouraging to me and possible readers. Schedule: Monday and Friday If you want to read ahead and/or support me to creating this story, you can do it through my Patreon (link below the next chapter button.) This is also a rewrite of this: Peerless Hegemon [OLD] | Royal Road

The Shattered Circle
Aleyr Frostborn has survived a hundred prophecies of her defeat, breaking each one by slaying the champions of light sent to kill her. Amongst the forces of good, her very name is a curse, and with good reason. Beyond her own evil, it is said that so long as she lives, the reign of the Godslayer himself will last: the lich king who the terrified masses call the King in Black. While the kingdoms and empires that surround the blighted lands of the undead lands struggle to survive and beat back the tide of evil, the machinations of the Eternal Kingdom's dark court barely contain the bitter struggles for power between the forces that have made it what it is. With one foretold hero brutally snuffed out, another will inevitably arise. For Aleyr, the cycle only further embitters her towards the gods of good and all those who serve them. But the truth is that her downfall might be something much closer to home than their prophecies, those last dregs of mortality beating inside her own chest. With a thoughtless intersection between cruelty and mercy, she begins a chain of events that threatens to tear the Eternal Kingdom and her own loyalties into shreds. After all, many things can be broken, not just prophecies.
