"You do realize that you sound crazy, right?" Louis hisses. "He cheated on you, Tay! He was with someone else and they are dating now! It wasn't an accident or anything. How, how the fuck could you forgive him?"
"You don't know how falling madly in love with someone feels, Louis."
"Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I must have forgotten my five year relationship with Aiden." He's pissed now at Taylor, proper pissed. He doesn't get it. He is furious at angry for what he has done to her, and she would forgive him in a heartbeat? It doesn't make sense to Louis.
"An before you know that I don't know how it feels to be cheated on, newsflash Taylor, the exact same shit happened to me."
"You wouldn't forgive Aiden? If he was begging for a second chance? You wouldn't give it to him? Everybody deserves one, Louis. It could have been a kind of mistake he made, thought that something would be better for him while it's not..."
"Then he should have thought about it without breaking my heart and choosing someone else over me."
"Some people love 2 at the same time, maybe that's what happened to Harry and he realizes now that he loves me more."
"If you love two people at the same time you don't love the first one enough to only stay with them, period. This is bullshit, Taylor. You're willing to forgive someone that-"
"I LOVE HIM LOUIS, OKAY?" she shouts through the phone and Louis checks that nobody is around, luckily that's the case.
"Love yourself first enough, Tay. He hurt you."
"Only the ones that you love can hurt. It means that I love him, because it hurts."
"Or it hurts because it was a shit move? Look, my day has been shit already and you dreaming about get together with that cheater doesn't make it better."
"Louis don't talk about him like-"

"Don't finish, Taylor." He sighs. "I feel like I'm more at your side than you are yourself."
"I know you are on my side and I appreciate it. It's just not at easy as it looks like, okay? I'm not over him, I miss him and I love him. We had some amazing times together and you know that Louis. You were with us on the Bahamas, you were with us when-"
"You don't need to sum up everything that happened he past half year." Louis interrupts. "Really I'm too impatient to listen to this now, Taylor. I have to go as well."
"Can you at least ask him about me today?" she asks.
"I most definitely won't do that."
Louis finishes the call without a goodbye. His mood has only gotten worse and he didn't think that was even possible. He checks his watch and sees he has to go downstairs. He needs another cigarette though and a coffee, a strong one, preferably with whiskey. Fucking Harry can wait.
--
"You took your time there, Louis." Harry smiles when Louis steps into the car half an hour too late.
"Did mister popstar have to wait?" his voice is monotone. "I'm not sorry."
"Louis..." Harry sighs desperately. "Can we at least act civil towards each other? I don't want to fight to get a friendly word out of you every single time we meet."
"Then stop stalking me." Louis snaps. He refuses to look at Harry so he stares out of the window, streets of LA passing by.
"I'm not stalking you."
"But you are, Styles."
"In your dreams, Tomlinson."
Louis turns around again and gives Harry an angry glare.
"Repeat that again." his voice is low and threatening.
"I said in your dreams, Tomlinson." A small smirk is playing on his lips and god Louis can't deal with this now. He should have been happy. Today he finally got his dream job but here he is at the back of an SUV with fucking Harry Styles, the most hated person by Louis.

"That you were at James' show I can understand." He says. "It's your field, your thing, habitat shit so I get that. What I don't get is that you are now, here at my working place while you know very damn well I work here."
"I didn't know you got this job, Louis. In my head you were still working in the office."
"You knew I applied for this job." He hisses.
"That I do know. I encouraged you to apply, remember?"
"They are looking for a social media assistant." Louis says. His laptop is resting on his lap as he is scrolling through his email. "They are looking for someone internal to do the job."
"What does that mean?" Taylor asks from the kitchen. She's preparing pasta for the three of them tonight. "The job, what do you have to do?"
Louis reads the description carefully before answering.
"It means taking care of the public image of the company using twitter, facebook, Instagram,... Promoting stuff, being a kind of ambassador for the company and it includes working together with celebrities as well."
"You got experience with those people." Harry winks at Louis and the two of them laugh. "But I'm serious, Lou. You should totally apply for that job."
"I don't know..." Louis whispers, staring at the screen.
"You should! You studied communication, right? Isn't this exactly the stuff you have always wanted to do? The social media content, the contact with people, taking care of the image,..?"
"I mean, it's really cool and all."
"It's your dream job, Tommo!" Taylor yells from the kitchen.
"Yeah but I'm not good enough and mister Cowell doesn't really like me. I'm happy at my little desk together with Zayn." Louis shrugs.
"Nonsene." Harry shakes his head. "You deserve better than that. If you want this, go for it!"
"I don't even have a proper resume. Mine is old and my picture sucks and a resume with a sucky picture while applying for this kind of job doesn't work." Louis shuts his laptop and puts it on the table. Harry takes it from the table again, opens it and starts to typ, falling down next to Louis on the couch.
"What are you doing?" Louis tries to follow what's happening on the screen but he's to lazy to actually sit up.
"Spicing up your resume." He says. "Now sit up."
Louis listens to Harry and he sits up.
"Show me that perfect smile of yours."
"What are you even doing?"
"Just smile."
"I'm not in the mood to smile, Harry."
"Why are you always so difficult?"
"Why are you always so persistent?"
"What do you call fish without eyes?"
"I don't know, Harry. Please enlighten me."
"A fsh."
And Louis starts to laugh so Harry quickly snaps a picture from the boy's face.
"Your jokes are stupid."
"You are stupid." Harry teases, poking Louis' side.
Louis doesn't pay attention anymore to Harry who is still on Louis' computer. Louis' eyes are closed as his head is resting on Harry's shoulder. It feels nice.
"Done." Harry says after a while and Louis who was already close to falling asleep, jumps up.
"With what, H? Is food ready? I'm starving."
"No, your resume." And Harry turns around Louis' laptop and shows him the perfectly styled document, the picture from Louis that's taken minutes ago shining in the right corner. "Now you don't have an excuse anymore to apply for your dream job, you lazy ass."
"Dinner's ready, boys!" Taylor shouts. Both of them stands up and Louis pulls Harry into a close hug before they go to the kitchen.
"Thanks, Haz. You're the best."
Louis looks away from Harry, back focusing on the view outside. He does remember, but he wishes he wouldn't...

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
