were all quiet. nobody knew how to respond to that.
"i killed jungkook's father."
namjoon hung his head down low. heads turned towards him, but no words were spoken.
"he was forced to kill my father." a bitter laugh escaped jungkook, "he had no choice."
a faint smile spread across jungkook's face. his eyes met namjoon's.
"i would have done the same. if i were in the same situation as him."
the atmosphere went silent again.
jimin broke the tension, "i was abused by my foster parents-"
"-and i" haru paused, "i killed them."
each one of them had their own story, their own secret to share. a secret buried deep in their skin.
"i used my hacking skills to rob people," taehyung chuckled as he drove the car.
"taehyung!" his father called, "come help me harvest the crops."
taehyung groaned. he shut his computer down and trotted towards the fields. he harvested crop by crop in the sweltering heat. after all, they were farmers.
they earned just enough money to make ends meet. a farmer's life was dependent on their crops.
"taehyungie." his mother placed a plate on the table, "please bear with us. this is all we have."
"eomma. appa. aren't you going to eat as well?"
his parents averted their eyes. they rose from the table.
"taehyung. please eat." his father sighed, "we'll eat later."
taehyung had already lost his appetite. he watched as his parents slipped behind the door, towards their room. taehyung snuck behind, pressing his ear towards the door.
"there has been no rain for weeks." his mother shook her head, "our crops are dying."
"it's a drought. how are we going to make ends meet?"
taehyung's father embraced his mother, "we'll find a way to make it through the season."

"eomma!" taehyung screamed in joy, "i got a job!"
his mother ruffled taehyung's hair. a wide smile crossed her.
"that's good taehyung. what is it?"
taehyung pursed his lips. he couldn't tell her. his mother would forbid him.
"it's software developing." he lied.
taehyung didn't have a job. he only did what he did best. hacking. he would rather suffer than let his parents suffer.
it wasn't fair, why must his family go through this while the rich enjoyed their lavish lives.
taehyung coded day and night, hacking into bank accounts of the rich. he didn't take much, just enough to get them by.
his mother called taehyung from the fields, "taehyung! your friend is waiting for you in your room."
taehyung furrowed his eyebrows. he didn't invite anyone over. he ran up to his room, meeting face to face with a orange haired boy.
"are you fucking stupid." the orange haired boy's voice rose.
"uh, i have no clue who you are."
"hoseok." he held a hand out, "i'm hoseok."
taehyung held the hand firmly, "now tell me why i'm stupid."
"how thick headed are you?"
taehyung frowned. he didn't remember being stupid.
"you're that hacker guy right?"
"oh shit." taehyung mumbled.
taehyung ran to his window. he scrambled to open it. he needed to leave now. he had been found out.
"nice meeting ya-"
"wait no! i don't want to hurt you."
taehyung backed away from the window. he felt like he could trust this man.
"i'm here to warn you." hoseok's eyes sunk, "my dad he knows."
"remind me who your dad is again." taehyung shrugged, "sorry, i don't pay attention to who i rob."
hoseok smacked his forehead, "jung family? does it ring a bell."

"oh shit, i'm fucked."
hoseok rolled his eyes, "please just leave the town. before my dad does something."
"i will take your suggestion into account."
taehyung smiled at the boy in front of him. he flashed a thumbs up.
"i didn't get your name." hoseok chuckled, "i can't keep calling you hacker guy."
"taehyung. kim taehyung."
taehyung paced around. how on earth was he supposed to tell his parents? he had already dragged it out for two weeks. he couldn't escape any longer. taehyung spent extra time walking home from school on purpose. he had formulated a perfect plan.
taehyung knocked on his door. today was not the best day for him to forget his keys.
"eomma!" he banged on the door.
"hey!"
taehyung's head jolted back. hoseok?
"come with me." hoseok begged, "please."
"what the fuck do you mean?"
"my fathers on the lookout for the both of us."
"what do you mean by both of us." taehyung raised his eyebrows.
"long story short, i ran away." in hoseok's tone was a sense of urgency, "taehyung look. if my dad finds me, he won't do shit. but if he finds you-the person who hacked into his bank account and robbed him."
"he'll kill you."
"what about my parents?"
"trust me taehyung. it's better off without them knowing."
taehyung slumped, "alright."
"i'll come with you."
"i never saw my parents again." taehyung's eyes sunk, "if i had known i would have told them i loved them."
"i would have said i'm sorry."
hoseok's heart cracked, "i'm sorry taehyung."
"how much did we lose!" hoseok's father hollered.
the man whispered an amount. his father's jaw clenched.
"track them down instantly."
the man nodded as he got to work, searching for the robber.
hoseok's eyes enlarged. he couldn't have his father kill someone. he hated his father's job, he hated what his father did to live. he tracked down the hacker. hoseok had to ensure nothing happened to him.
"hoseok." his father called, "i want you to take him down."
his father pressed a gun into hoseok's hands, piercing him with a stare.
"i want him dead hoseok. do you understand?"
hoseok gulped. he understood.
hoseok ran to his room, afraid to show any hesitation in front of his father.
he had already met the boy earlier, warning him of his father. hoseok couldn't do it. he imagined taehyung's brown eyes staring into his. he imagined the pained smile taehyung would give him. hoseok crashed to the ground.
he couldn't live this life any longer.
"i ran away," hoseok's voice cracked, "i ran away because he told me to kill you."
taehyung kept his eyes on the road, "hoseok."
"it's alright. family always forgives family."
taehyung swerved the car onto the compound. his foot pressed onto the brakes.
"guys. i hate to break it to ya." taehyung spoke, "but, we're here."
